We're leaving. I'm very upset that we had to move her again. The biggest reason and this is the most concerning reason, mom is a diabetic and she's on sliding scale and they knew that but they only have nurses there from 9 to 5 therefore they could not honor the sliding scale so they put her on a fixed amount and when we'd take her to the hospital every doctor asked why. They could not handle their medications well, they would say they couldn't give her medications because they didn't have them but they jsut didn't take the time to look for them. We were there 5 days in a row and not one time did any of them say that she was getting low, when I was two and a half hours away they called to say she was low and I had to drive back and fill it. I never authroized them to fill medications, but they did it through theirs and we got charged 900 dollars, if that had been the only problem it would have been fine but i am really concerned about the nursing and the activities that are not age appropriate

It's much bigger and they were much more expensive. I didn't like that they were a big, nation wide chain.

Very nice gardens. Rooms are smaller, price on the higher end, location is pretty far away. Staff was very warm and friendly. My tour guide, Christina, was very helpful, lots of information. Main concerns are cost and location.

This place was expensive. We managed to find something that was a smaller, homey place (which is what my parents were wanting) for a better price.

This is a very nice community. We were paying about $5,200 a month. They are more costly then comparable communities. It was very clean and staff was very nice. We really liked this community and felt it was a good choice. It seems as though it changed hands or under different management because it is not as good as it once was. Since the change it just wasn't what we were used to and was not as impressed.

Belmont was just not able to provide me with the good feeling we were looking for. Just does not seem like it would be a good fit for our situation. The community is nice and well maintained. The staff was friendly but just could not provide the confidence we needed.

The salesperson we met with scared me (it wasn't Amy). I had the feeling the first time mom was aggitated, they would throw her into a psych ward for medicine balancing. They no longer have water views at this facility and the sales person said they would not consider respite. The place was a little dark for a Sunrise and the residents that day didn't seem particularly happy there. This would have been a convenient location for mom, but not a place we thought she'd be happy in. They did take care of their birds better than at other facilities we visited. Points for that.

Sunrise was conveniently located for our family which made a big difference when choosing a community. The other reason we chose this community is the affordability of Sunrise. Our loved does say she is bored and they do not have enough to do. It seems like more activities need to be conducted and try to engage the residents a little more.

Not too impressed with young lady who took me on tour. Not sure if it is the right place upon observation of staff interaction with residents.

This is right around the corner from our home. They only have 1 bedrooms (and smaller) and the cost for the two of you for the larger size would be around $8000. While the place is new and nice and clean, it seemed overpriced to me. The kitchenette was kind of cheesy (even though you wouldn't necessarily be cooking a lot, it still looked cheap to me), good large bathrooms and walk-in closet. Have to take your laundry to facilities - that seemed like a hassle to me... lots of planned outtings.

The tour was fine. Pat and I were not quite as comfortable here as at the one one Chicago Ave. The price was also more for a respite stay - $145 verses $124 a day.

Reminded us of a nursing home...And pricey.

Strange layout to the apartments. Convenient to her friends at Waterford Towers.

Lovely place but no independent living options. Does not seem the right fit for now. Advantage is that they have places in Boston and CA as well.

Beautiful property. The staff i met were friendly and the they have a lot to offer in the way of activities and events to keep the residents occupied. The drawback is their pricing. It is a little piecemeal and somewhat confusing in trying to determine the bottom-line cost per month needed when on a fixed income. The cost for the room (and you have to buy all the furniture and fixtures and linens) is one price then they have 4 additional fees as needed plus two other fees. Oh did i mention the $2500 administrative fee just to get in the door? Those are things that need to be up front rather than sort of mentioned after the fact. It may price my sister out of considering this property.

My parent lives here and it is a middle of the road environment but was within the budget. Not fancy; apartments are not updated; cleaning is not very thorough in the individual apartments nor in the dining area; and carpets aren't shampooed on a regular basis. All residents eat at the same time, thus, food service is slow and cumbersome; restaurant-style would be much better so residents could pick their mealtime. The maids during the day also serve breakfast and lunch. The food is so so and the menu choices are not necessarily the best choices for a heart healthy diet. The residents are pretty friendly but field activities are limited to those who can climb into the van since there is no lift. The price was reasonable at the time of the move in but current prices are too high when compared to newer communities. The new pricing is the same you would pay at a newer community where the bathrooms are larger and are more handicap accessible and the apartments are updated. Pets are allowed which is fine, but the community has a real problem with pet waste from not only the resident pets but also neighborhood pets; neighbors by the Courtyard let their pets use the community's lawn and don't pick up after their pets. The community has a big turnover in management due to either a bad fit with the residents or the corporate office moving management teams too much. In the last few years, there have been at least 5 different management teams brought in; however, being a co-manager is a difficult job so ultimately there aren't too many people that have a true heart for seniors and their care. At one point there was a management team that got upset when disturbed during the night. This community could use a good revival to lift resident and manager morale.

Didn't like the fact that the rooms don't have closets or separate ''bathroom sink''. Kitchen sink is the only sink in the room. Nice size efficiency.
