Sunrise Senior Living

If we wouldn't have found a better community, this was probably the one we would have gone to. Their a set down from the one we chose but they were still a viable option. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and seemed to be professional. It wasn't as big as the other place and it seemed to have all the basics covered but when you take into consideration the price, it was not as attractive of an option. We just didn't get as good of a feeling here. Plus, they didn't have any rooms available at the time.

This was very nice as far as the facility but it was quite a bit more expensive than a Sunrise location in New Jersey. That was a big factor.

The price was about the same as the others I was considering for my mom. The place seemed to be good, clean, and friendly. Honestly, I just really liked another one better.

Nice place, but too far away from us

The people are extremely caring and the professional staff has been wonderful to my mother. I would say the quality of care is good too. Their bookkeeping seems to be a nightmare. That I'm having an issue with that. I think it's an absolutely beautiful facility and it's well maintained. It did take two months to get a shelf hung in her room. That was concerning but when the new director came in he took care of it right away. I like him very much. I think this is as good a solution for her as possible for my mother.

Not sure if we can afford a buy in program but sounds more appealing than assisted living. We are now looking into active adult communities with real estate for sale and resale. My mom has good genes and could possibly live another 25 years. This place was really nice though

This was our first experience with respite stay and we didn't know what to expect. Mom has done better than we ever expected. She's made friends and been more active than she has in months. The staff has been most supportive to both Mom and me. They know everyone and are friendly and approachable. The facility is beautiful and clean. It feels like home and is not at all antiseptic. We're hoping that Mom will agree to respite on a regular basis and will look at Sunrise as a home away from home--and someday as a permanent home.

They were nicer and newer, a little more expensive. Probably the main reason that I didn't go with them was that they are a much smaller facility and I kind of had the feeling that my mother would do better in larger group of people with more staff to call on.

My aunt loved the place but is still holding out for a place closer to Hollis-Buxton area

My mom is really happy there, the managements kind of so-so but the people are nice, my mom has a nice room, it's cheap and she's really happy. Not a single day goes by that my mom doesn't fuss at me about taking dad to live with her. Maybe it'll work out, it would be wonderful if it did but my mom thinks she can cure his dementia. She's doing independent living and she's doing quite well, they have meals provided, housekeeping, she has a lovely room, the price is nice and they will take her in a little van to any place within 10 miles which is pretty standard. The management I'm not real happy with, they're full of promises and my husband says he doesn't trust them as far as they can throw them. They say anybody can live there but then it's up to the family to make sure that they, on their own, provide the extra care that people need. The managers there are sales people, I talked to one of th regional salespeople and she was one of the worst used car dealers I had ever talked to. I told her I was moving my mother here inspite of her, not because of her, they will promise you anything.

It's a beautiful place. The really nice thing about Sunrise is when you walk in the layout is very conducive to a community atmosphere. All the activity rooms are in a cluster. I think that helps people feel connected when the see each other all in one big area. What didn't work for me about Sunrise was mostly the distance. I know myself and if it's not very close my mom would see less of me.

Moving our Dad to a home was a very tough decision in many ways. We wanted him to stay in his own home where he was familiar with his surroundings however, as time went on we could not provide him with the appropriate care. We went through "A Place for Mom" and they were excellent in providing information and places for our particular needs. We decided on Sunrise of Braintree for its proximity to my sister, their expertise in caring for a person in my dad's condition, the physical grounds and the condition of the building and the decor which felt like a home. The care givers are wonderful, patient human beings and they keep everything light and happy. They get to know the patients and have a relationship with them. We have been very happy for my dad and of course for ourselves his children because we are giving him the best possible care we can.

My Dad is 89 years old with multiple health concerns. He came to Sunrise of North Lynbrook because of his need for additional hands on care. The staff is pleasant but numerous. They rotate through different responsibilities. My dad has vision concerns and this has made it difficult for him to identify who is assisting him. It would be preferable to have greater continuity in staff for him. He is assisted to the dining area by one individual, he is assisted with dining by another individual, he is assisted from the dining area by another individual. In addition the residences do not have overhead lighting which operate with wall switches. This is another concern for someone with limited vision and limited tactile use. These factors are my only concern. The staff is friendly and energetic. The attention to personal care is well done

It's a really nice place, it looked new, it was more spacious, more wide open, but it was also way more expensive than any other place we looked at.

The cleanliness is excellent, my aunt has a very high care level and they seem to be able to meet her needs. She does particiapte in activities and I know she likes bingo and flower arrangements, some of the games they play and sometimes the have Bible studies she goes to. Sometimes she complains she has to wait too long when she rings the bell but I think that might be normal or average for a place that has a lot of people. They did say that she would have the same caregiver all the time and I don't know if that's improved but in the begining there were several but I would definitely recommend it for another family.
