Sunrise Senior Living

The community is very nice, my tour was very professional, the staff and residents looked happy, I liked the layout of the place and the grounds. The rooms were fair sized, not the biggest I have seen. The reason it has 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is very expensive.

It was a nice place but way too big for mom. It had 3 floors and she would likely feel lost.

Nice facility, however, my in-laws are looking for a 2-bedroom apartment. None were constructed here.

My 93 yr old mother fell down and fractured her hip. After the Operation she was never the same. I had to move her to Belmont because she Could no longer swallow very well and her mental and medical conditions changed. When they did the first assessment she still made sense. Shortly after moving in , it was obvious she needed to be in memory care which is now her final spot. She is. under the care of hospice as well as the staff at the Belmont. I am now satisfied. Basically, my mother was losing it and I felt that she wasn’t really being looked after as much as I felt she needed it. When hospice came in and more or less made appropriate improvements I felt satisfied. I am only giving four stars because even though they try there is a lack of communication between the nurses, the pals who do all the hands on work and the head staff. It is lovely and if you have a loved one that isn’t so close to death, I would look into moving someone into the Belmont because I’m sure it would be a great placement.

Facility was very grand. I believe it could house 80 residents, but my number maybe off. When I came in the front door, there was a pianist leading about 25 residents in singing carols in a large community space, and she informed me she was there twice a month. Spent first 10 minutes filling in the coordinator on my father's condition. She assured me that there was nothing of concern that they wouldn't be able to address and that there were people in the residence similar to him that were already being taken care of and that a resident who was bed bound was not a problem for their staff. She then told me that they also had regular housekeeping, laundry facilities for linens and residents' clothing, they had a beauty shop for hair and nails that was a separate charge, they used Doctors Making House Calls for doctors and podiatrists as a separate charge, that any Hospice services were welcome as needed, that there was a back up generator -- although there might not be electricity to resident bedrooms, as common areas and medical equipment would be the priority , that the three-story structure has a elevator, that they offered to supply articles similar to Depends for a separate charge or a resident's family could supply them, and that we could view a one-bedroom with a den. I asked if I could visit my father at any time of day or night, and she said yes. I asked the price for a resident who was in the one-bedroom and was bed bound. It was over $10,000 per month. I said that was a lot of money. We looked at a one-bedroom model. It was beautiful and very large with a room large enough for a king-sized bed as well as another large space set up as a living room. The bathroom was large and well-laid out with a walk-in shower. She told me all items in the room would need to be supplied by the resident, including the bed. I did notice a slight odor as I came in the front door, but nothing offensive.

This facility is nice and may work for mom. The rooms are fairly close to the elevators and dining area. Bathrooms are spartan.

My sister-in-law, for whom I have POA for personal care, needed assisted living services earlier this year. There was no such accommodation in Durham Region where she lived previously. Clearly, more of this level of care is needed for those who are not completely independent and yet not needing the services of a long term care facility. Sadly, the cost of care at Sunrise is prohibitive for many. I, myself, could not afford to live there. We recently held a family gathering in the Activity Room on the 2nd floor and the staff were very welcoming, gracious and accommodating in giving us the use of the room, providing and setting up tables and chairs, providing linens etc.. My sister-in-law has only one complaint - the quality of food served in the dining room is "uneven" at best. When visiting her, we ourselves have also experienced inconsistency in the quality of meals provided. Considering the cost of living there, this is disappointing. Otherwise, she is happy at Sunrise and is quite bonded with one particular caregiver. Sunrise provides good but high cost assisted living services for those who can afford it. We need more of this level of care at more affordable prices.

They took good care of my Mother until her passing

My mother has been living at Bedford Court for 3 months now, and despite strongly not wanting to move from her home, she is truly happy now. It helped to simplify her life, so she can still handle Independent living on her own. The staff and other residents are friendly. The facility is clean and has many services she needs - meals provided (that are delicious) when she wants them, weekly housekeeping, and laundry machines close by. We especially like that a shopping center with banks, diner, and grocery store are within a short walk. The courtyard is beautiful and well kept and an nice environment for outside. There are good activities available daily, and having the mailboxes in the hall gets her out too. My mother has some dementia, so has challenges, but is slowly figuring it all out. The staff have been most helpful with this integration, went out of their way to help her when she was most distraught early on, and have still kept tabs on her.

Quincy place is a very nice senior living complex. The meals are good, the staff is very friendly and location is very good. My mother is 93, lives in a studio and receives physical therapy from some great people that are contracted to work there. The studios are a bit small but this is one of the better priced complex's in the Denver area.

Sunrise was good for my Mom. The staff was awesome and helped us every step of the way. Unfortunately the expense was a bit much for us. I miss having my Mom there.

The Sunrise at Silas Burke House was almost new when my dad moved into it - and the staff have stayed on top of the normal wear and tear, and addressed the issues that are normal with a new operation (service in the dining room, knowing where things are, etc.). The staff are friendly, helpful, and patient – not an easy thing with residents that have health and mental issues and mobility problems. A couple of days ago, my dad said that he should have moved out his house a couple of years ago, and that he was more comfortable than he has been in years. He's also healthier – he likes the food, he's eating a balanced diet, and he's taking his medicine in the right amounts and at the right times. I would give Sunrise 5 starts except that they're the most expensive option – but not by a whole lot. If you can handle the $1K more a month, this is a much better option than any of the other assisted living facilities that I looked at in the WMA.

My mom swore that she’s never reside in an assisted living facility but there she is and it’s working out. She truly enjoys many of the stafff members and most of the meals. Brighten gardens is a manageable size, not too big. Occasionally her favorite activity is cancelled for no apparent reasons which is disappointing. I also feel the activities are limited. However the activity director is incredibly friendly and caring and loved by all the residents. I recommend Brighton Gardens

It was a very good move to put Mom in Sunrise. They are very good to Mom and work hard to keep Mom happy, healthy & comfortable.

We got my Aunt moved in to Sunrise st NorthHills with a minimum of fuss. Her care was great until the end. Good facility, good staff, good front office people. I’m glad she was there so I know she was comfortable and cared for right to the end.

We were very happy to find this facility in New York City for our parents! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and our parents are enjoying their life there. Lovely location!
