Really good community.

This is a good place for your loved one. I would recommend this community for you or your loved one. They have activities like musical entertainment, physical therapy and more for the residents to do to stay busy. The staff are great and professional I have never had any issues with them at all when it comes to my loved one.

We went with Sunrise of Leawood because they were able to take care of my husband and his special needs. It is a much nicer facility and it does not look or feel institutional, it looks more homey. For the most part, everybody has been very nice and helpful. As far as activities go, they had to shut down things due to covid, but I am hoping those start back up and they can encourage him to participate. He is very happy, his room is bright and open and he really enjoys the food. I am a little bit concerned about them being understaffed, but I know that is a problem everywhere. The consistency of care has been an issue and things are not getting done at the level I think that they can do. I think these things are getting worked out and they are aware of these issues. Everything is moving forward and they are learning what he needs.

The staff there, especially a few individuals have just been incredible. It is tough having your loved one in this type of situation, but they have been amazing and really have looked after our loved one. They have really helped out when we needed them most and we would most definitely recommend this community to other families.

We toured this community and thought it was very nice. I did feel that the interior needed some updating. I would still recommend others to tour this community.

Our tour at Sunrise of Alexandria was very good. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They explained everything and were on top of their game. They were just a little too far away, and a little out of our price range.

What really stood out to our family was the activities coordinator. She is so vibrant, engaged and full of life which is so hard to find these days. We would recommend this community to most families.

I think when you first start looking for an assisted living environment, you have expectations about how much care they will provide. For me, some of the gotcha's or surprises were around things like making sure my loved one gets to doctor appointments. They really prefer not to be involved in that at all, which turned out to be quite a surprise to me. With Covid in general and everybody being short-staffed, there have been some minor lapses in care, Foley catheter issues, etc. Sometimes it just feels like they lose focus a little bit. But I imagine it's difficult not having the staffing level that anybody needs right now.

Sunrise is a very good facility, it has such a cheerful environment to it. It is beautifully decorated, they have nice terraces and a beautiful garden. The rooms the residents have are very spacious, well appointment and comfortable. The upstairs was a wonderful area and such a great experience, but the facilitator downstairs and with the memory care unit was lack some serious communication. That was not a good experience. Other than that we would highly recommend this place.

When I first walking in, it felt very homey and comfortable and I knew this was going to be the best fit for her. The staff is very good and the care has been great. Since my mother got here, she was promised a shower. They had us order a special wheelchair and she still has not gotten it yet. She really loves bingo, I am trying to get her to participate in some of the other activities provided. I would highly recommend them to others.

I really liked Sunrise of Mount Vernon. I loved that they would have allowed my loved one to have a pet. But their pricing was a little higher than other places we looked at. They would have been my top choice if we could have afforded it.

We liked Sunrise of Cary, but it was way expensive. And our loved one didn’t need that high a level of care yet.

This was a very nice community during the tour.

The day to day staff and all of their operations were absolutely fantastic, however the management team would get around 2.5 stars, they just had a big problem with communication, we saw all talk and just no action. We had issues with the billing side, there were always some inconsistency or discrepancies we would have to go back and figure out. The kitchen staff are very friendly, but the meals themselves would get around 2.5, it is not so much the portion sizes but it is the type of food and all the food choices, it was just not very good. Considering all the circumstances, we do think they did a good job with the activities. At the time even with the struggles we knew our loved ones were in a safe place, but if we had to do it all over again we are not sure we would choose Sunrise.

I feel that my loved one is getting the care and the attention and the therapy that he needs to live a wholesome and productive life.

We had a wonderful tour experience with Sunrise of Leawood. The staff were great and the facility was very beautiful. It was just too expensive for us at the time.

This is a local community for your loved one and the people that work here are local and well trained so they know a lot about the area. They are very responsive at this community also.

This community was good but it was just too far from where I wanted my loved one to be located.

This is an upper tier community and it is nicer. We toured six communities and this was the one that we went with. My loved one is not able to do many activities due to her being [details removed] so it is hard to find things for her to do withihn the community that she wants to participate in. They do have bingo and painting and more for the residents to do.

We like the smaller scale of the community, and we also like the layout of our loved ones apartment. Her apartment had ADA regulations so its easy for her to get from her bedroom to the bathroom to the living room and kitchen. Also the bathroom has a walk-in shower.
