Sunrise Senior Living

What has really stuck out to me about Sunrise of Newton is definitely the quality of care that they provide.

This was a nice community. The community was dated community and it would be nice to see this updated in the bathrooms to make them walk-in showers for the residents. It was also too expensive for us.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a really nice experience

I think Sunrise is a good place and we'd be happy to tell others about the facility and staff.

There are not to many activities on the memory care side, and they could work on improving their overall friendliness, helpfulness and cooperation. Sometimes when we ask them to do things it does not get done.

This facility is good for assisted living, but I wouldn't recommend memory care. It's very clean and always smells nice. The food was good quality and had a good variety. The financial structure is confusing, they use a daily rate versus a monthly rate. Some of the care givers could have been more empathetic. Some of them weren't as attentive as I would have liked. Others were very good. They just seemed to be overworked. The care supervisor and wellness supervisor were both very helpful. It wasn't horrible here, it was ok. Ultimately, we wanted a smaller place. Memory care needs more one on one care and less residents to really get the care they need. I would recommend them for assisted living but not memory care.

Sunrise of Morris Plains was a nice facility. I like they had a wing for the Alzheimer's/Dementia community. The admissions lady was sweet and very informative. The price was just a little too steep for what we could afford.

I do overall think Sunrise of Willowbrook is a very good facility. This was the first assisted living place that my loved one ever lived in. We did have one issue where she was moved into a 2 bedroom suite. She was there alone for weeks and they ended up moving a roommate in with her which was fine. They did not get along and they moved our loved one out even though she was there longer and was already adjusted and used to that room - so then she had to readjust to another one. We felt the issue could have been handled a little bit better, but the whole experience was a learning process for all of us. It is overall a great facility.

I toured this facility and it was ok. The staff was very friendly. Facility was not as new as some of the others. I really liked that they have a rescue animal on each floor as a community pet.

Our Dad was one of the original residents of Aspired Living of Westmont when it first opened. Like all families we had our concerns of moving Dad from our Family home to an assisted living facility. I can say that we are happy that we did! Dad made so many new friends while he was a resident. Friends that consisted of fellow residents, staff members and other family members of residents. What separated Aspired Living from the other assisted living facilities was the staff. The staff treated our Dad as if he was a family member of their own. We knew this because Dad had medical rehab at other facilities that we thought could be a good fit for Dad. They were not. Unfortunately Dad passed away late last year and we still stop in to visit with Dads friends and the staff. So many fond memories!

Overall most things have been positive and most staff are very friendly. There have been a few minor miscommunications with care but overall it is good. When it comes to the meals and dining they started off really good but dad says they're frequently out of things. Activities are good as they have something daily, dad just chooses not to participate in many. With the value we're glad the county supplements the cost but it is still very expensive, especially when you add in nursing care and shares of costs for prescriptions and other medical needs Overall we're happy and would recommend!

This facility is good. They are a little short staffed, but they are doing their best and they bring in help when needed.. Communication with the family is good. Activities are good. The meals are good. They do housekeeping regularly and then a deep clean once a week and we're happy with that. The staff is overall good and we are happy with them. There are a few that aren't so great, but that happens anywhere. They do offer transportation and dad is happy with that also. I would recommend them to friends and family.

I would recommend Sunrise of Naperville North as long as you have the money. The staff handle our loved one's memory less very well, and they take very good care of her. She's always clean. If they have a question or if she needs something, they call me. As far as the meals, they cater to each individual resident based on their preferences and needs. And I was really impressed by that. They're always doing some kind of activity, and they choose things that stimulate the residents' brains. They have limited physical therapy there on-site, and they take her on walks and try to keep her active. They monitor her oxygen levels, and in providing her with opportunities for increased activity, they have been able to stabilize her breathing and increase her oxygen level. They do quite a lot to help her, which I have witnessed at all different times of the day when I come to visit. The cost is steep, but the value is good, and you're getting what you're paying for. I have been very impressed with them, especially with our prior experience at a different facility.

I think they're doing a wonderful job. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is kept together well, and it's very comfortable and homey.

Be active and present in your family member's care. I observed that the residents whose family was not present tended to be left alone quite a bit. Issues seemed not to stem from lack of management, but because the staff were spread very thin. There were some staff who tried to do their best. And then there were some who perhaps should have been let go for lack of attention and courteousness but could not be let go because the facility was so short-staffed. We found one of the attendants asleep in our loved one's chair. There were numerous instances of his clothes going missing. He came in with three coats and left with one. They told us they looked for the missing items, but they never did come up with them. The way that they treated our family was inconsistent. They were friendly to some of us and not to others. Again, there was variation depending on the workers. Some were very friendly and helpful and would go the extra mile to assist. And then there were some that were there to do just the bare minimum. I understand that issues with staffing are a challenge nationwide currently, be we were paying for a service we feel we did not receive.

Sunrise was a very nice community, but they are only private pay and nothing after money runs out.

We chose Sunrise of hunter Mill because of the proximity to our home, the cleanliness of the overall facility, and the biggest reason was the friendliness of the staff members - we connected with them the moment that we met them. They are very genuine people and they are the type of people you want to go out to happy hour with. I would most definitely recommend Sunrise to other families looking.

Be sure to look around and see what will work best for everybody in your family. Stratford Court is definitely better than many other places that I've seen. But you do need to follow up with them, so make sure you're on top of what's going on.

Dad is happy here, but we're still not sure about it. He loves the place and the residents. One of my biggest concerns is the response time. It's often unacceptable. I've asked if they are understaffed and they say they are not, but dad is still having to wait 30 minutes to an hour for a response a lot of times when pushing his call button for assistance. They have a bus for outings and we were told that they do them weekly, but they don't. Outings are very rare. I asked a few other residents and they said it's normal that they don't have outings very often at all. Every day seems exactly the same for them. Activities aren't organized. Dad has tried to participate, but some of the residents there to play can't mentally engage and he would get frustrated. So he stopped going to them. They did just get a new manager, so I'm hoping things improve. The staff is hit and miss, some are compassionate and to some it's just a job. Meals are ok, no complaints from dad. The facility is clean, it never smells. When I expressed my concerns/complaints, I was asked to give them 30 days to correct things and make it right, so we're still waiting. At this point, I'm not sure if I would recommend them.

Went on a family tour it was a decent overall tour, found it to be a little older than one of the others on the top of our list. But certainly very clean and well kept up.
