Sunrise Senior Living

The community is very clean as there are no odors, there's no mess in the hallways. It feels like its up to the standards you'd have in your own home. The staff is very friendly and they clearly build strong, personal relationships with the residents. They do their best to make the residents comfortable and accommodate for their needs. The care available to residents is very good. When Covid-19 came about, I offered to bring my mother home with me for the duration of the pandemic, however she elected to stay at Sunrise. She said she felt very safe and protected by the staff and that they had made a clear effort to keep the residents safe. We shopped around a lot for communities for my mother and we found this one to be appropriately priced for what you get out of it. The activities were one area where the community has room for improvement. We would like to see more intellectually stimulating activities as the ones they do have available seem to be geared less toward mobile or independent residents. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the activities coordinator has found some great ways to shake up the day by going room to room and offering small things like mobile happy hour or arts and crafts to the residents.

The communication with the staff is great. When my dad first moved there, the staff took the time to talk to me regularly and quickly got to my dad and his personality. The went out of their way and put effort into finding my dad suitable dining table mates with similar interests. These men quickly became his close friends. During COVID, the community have sent daily updates by email. The main reason we chose Sunrise is because my dad requires a ground diet and they were able to accommodate this need. He actually says the food tastes great and has gained weight. Also, the staff really respect the resident's privacy.

I have had a few times where I had to speak to the directors and they were very open to my concerns and helpful in finding a solution. My mom is having a hard time with the quarantine for the Pandemic. The staff are doing their best to try to help. My mom misses the socialization. The food is amazing, home cooked with desserts every night. The chef sat down with my mom on her first day to find out her favorites. They offer lots of menu choices. My mom has a nice large room with 4 windows. She really likes it. They have lots of activities throughout the day, wii tennis, Bingo, yoga and Trivia games

They are very flexible to your needs. They have Independent Living, Assisted Living as well as Memory Care, so residents can age in place. They are very easy to work with. The chef just came up to talk to me about my dietary needs. They have a gazebo, outdoor eating area and walking paths. The rooms are laid out well. They are in the process of remodeling and upgrading the rooms. They have wide hallways, which works well for my electric scooter. I feel safe here. The entrance is very attractive, it does not look or feel like a hotel it gives it a more home-like feel.

The number one thing is the caring attitude of the staff and the executives towards the residents and their families. They are flexible, caring, helpful, and it has turned out to be the perfect place for my mom. I chose it because it is close to my home so I can make more frequent visits. My mom's apartment is beautiful, spacious, with southern exposure overlooking a grassy area. There are to lovely courtyards. The executive staff send weekly updates, sometimes more, to keep families informed regarding COVID. The medication management is absolutely exceptional.

Sunrise has been beyond wonderful. They are on top of everything with the residents. The communication is excellent. Since the Coronavirus, they have had programs set up for the residents to communicate with their families through phone, facetime, email, window visits, and even individual activities in their rooms It has been incredible. They have been phenomenal with our care. Sunrise has been above and beyond what I anticipated . It's just been fantastic.

The staff is so attentive to my parent's needs, even though they live in Independent Living. If they have any issues with anything, the response is immediate. The atmosphere is welcoming and my step father says all the other residents are very friendly. The apartment suits their needs perfectly and is cleaned once a week by an employee. I would highly recommend Sunrise, Lombard for senior living.

Sunrise has been absolutely wonderful from the very beginning. The executive director and all of the staff have been caring, kind, compassionate, and excellent communicators before and during COVID-19. They send a evening report by email with updates to all of the family members. My aunt has food allergies to soy and peanuts. We met with the chef and he has her menu down to a perfect science. All of the staff in the building at Sunrise have a clear understanding for cognitive related impairments such as dementia and Alzheimer's. They are all educated in how to handle , talk to, comfort, de-escalate, and redirect the residents.

Upon introductions, the admissions director, certified recreational therapist, and executive director were very comforting, supportive, and kind in my aunt's transition to their new sister community. They have continued their same emotional support to my family especially surrounding the difficulties of moving a loved one with memory issues.

My sister really likes it there and she is not the easiest person to please so that makes me happy. It is a beautiful setting. The food seems to be good.The staff is very caring. We had heard good things about Sunrise when we were looking. I am very glad we have found a good place that my sister likes.

Sunrise was such a great place. My brother received excellent care there. We chose the community for its location but also because we had a couple of bad experiences at other communities in the area. At Sunrise, the care was absolutely stellar. I would definitely recommend it to other families.

They have been great with this virus situation. They have really done what needs to be done. Their communication has been 100% . They have been great keeping families engaged. They have a Facebook page where families can see what's going on. They have periodic virtual meetings where the families of the residents have a conference call which has been very effective. They really have their stuff together. The residents units are a good size.

The staff is so caring. They were very welcoming, she fit in very quickly. Aspired Living is a newer facility. The rooms are larger and they have all one and two bedroom units. They have open style dining no set times it is all restaurant style dining. Great with communication, lots of email and a Zoom meeting. They have been good at keeping families in the loop.

Super friendly people, clean, lots of activities. Larger community, my mom is on the 2nd floor which means navigating an elevator but there were always staff members there to help her if needed. Overall for our situation I was very pleased with the experience

I feel they are handling the quarantine very well. Very clean property. Staff is very friendly to my aunt. They have good care levels that can manage my aunts needs. I would recommend Sunrise at River Road to a friend. My aunt loves the food.It has been hard for me since I am 200 miles away but they have good communication and offer video conferencing to help families stay connected.

Sunrise at Webb Gin is a wonderful place for your loved ones. My mother has been there for almost four years and I have many opportunities to participate in their programs and have enjoyed every one. Everyone I have met has been kind thoughtful and caring. They are always looking out for their residents and I never have to worry about my mom.

Sunrise seems to be a very open and welcoming community. She moved in a week prior to the quarantine and she was very happy that week. Now she would like to just be able to get out and go the dinner! She looked at three different communities, but she chose Sunrise because it was closet to her family.

I toured several places and the thing I liked best about Sunrise was the community size. It is small, not hotel like and sterile. The common areas are decorated warmly and there is a lot to do. The staff want the residents to get dressed every day and come to the dining room for all of their meals, which I thought was good for my grandmother. They encourage the residents to be active and participate in activities as well. I ate breakfast there with my grandmother every morning, and the food was good. but service takes a while and I found that my grandmother had to learn to be patient.

We have found a very caring facility for our sister. During this pandemic they have gone out of their way to put us in touch with her as the facility is locked down for all visitors. Any questions we have there is always someone to answer them. She is in the Reminiscence section of the facility.

My brother and I visited have 12 Senior Centers in person and carefully reviewed 25 more online. Our parents were initially at Oakmont/ Fair Oaks (not a good fit for us- overly priced and not enough truly "adult" activities). Sunrise has been a dream: staff are friendly, kind, truly love their jobs and residents. (Tip: if you are interviewing various Centers, ask how long each employee has worked there? Short time = unhappy workers, which eventually will show in their interactions with residents). You'll find long tenures at Sunrise. Sunrise has an open, warm layout (think 2 story lobby with fireplace; comfortable, inviting chairs and sofas; wood paneling; nice carpeting; plants, CLEAN; 24/7 Bistro; year-round porches, etc ) that encourages resident interaction. TONS of music - around 3 live performances/week. The size is Goldilocks - not so big that residents get lost in the crowd but not so small as to prevent them from meeting new, interesting friends. Sunrise is set in a calm, pleasant, semi-rural area: lots of mature trees, rolling hills and greenery, but just about a mile from shops and restaurants. We could not be HAPPIER, and so are our Parents!!!!
