Nothing was wrong with the community when I was looking into option. They were not the best for my dad's care. When we talked over the phone they were professional and helpful with giving me the answers I needed to make a decision.

The Nursing Staff gave my father medication and had a bad result. They called the paramedics, who stabilized him and left. The staff did not contact us, his family. The next two nights in a row they gave him the same medication and got the same bad result and had to call the paramedics two more nights in a row. On one of the days I visited him and his IV site from the paramedics visit the night before had never clotted and was oozing and had soaked through the bandage and to his clothes from armpit to waist. On the third night he was transported to the hospital. No one thought to question the medication or consult with his doctor. It took someone 20 hours to notice he was no longer at the home. Upon being released two days later, we returned to the home. to fine no one had cleaned his room, there was food by his bed from two days ago. We talked to four different people, a nurse & three others, none of which knew that my father had medication issue and had been in the hospital for the past two days. The staff, although friendly doesn't communicate with us or each other very well. We took it upon ourselves to check to see if the Nursing Staff had the new medication schedule for the hospital, they didn't, we had to give it to them. If we had not checked, they would have given him the same medications that caused him to go to the hospital. We also found out they only have one nurse on staff at night for 3 buildings worth of people, including a "Skilled Nursing" wing. They also have not Doctor on staff or on call. We are not pleased with the care and will not recommend this place to anyone. We will be leaving.

The facility itself is very nice. When my mom went in there, there was no introduction package on how she find things or meet people. None of that. I found that to be unfriendly. I wish they would of gave her a package. Overall, I thought it would be a great place. The facility is fine, but my mom wanted to be able to interact and socialize. The residents were mean and cruel. I rate this facility three stars overall.

Beautiful facility!! Close to my brother's house, but too expensive. Also, mom wouldn't make use of most of the amenities. This would have been perfect for her about 15 years ago.

Everything is going fine so far. There is room for improvement. So far it's working out okay though.

We had to take my wife out of Elmcroft of La Mesa because she fell and fractured her hip. When we took her out, there were several things we noticed that were missing that just disappeared. Some of her clothes, a couple pieces of furniture. The staff was generally ok (seemed very friendly) but I am just somewhat suspicious as if it was one of them that stole some of our things. We raised this complaint to the administrators but were not able to get anywhere with it.

The reason we chose Elmcroft of La Mesa is because when we visited there, all of the resident's were out in the central area enjoying activities, and enjoying each other. We did not see that at any other place we visited. The staff is always on the floor, and very engaged with the residents. It's very pleasant.

I liked the level of care provided as well as the fact that there is a kitchen. The property was older and less attractive, but gives mom the opportunity to have her own space both inside and out.

I had a very mixed experience with the community. The staff all seemed very nice, they were friendly, caring, and seemed to be trying their best. However, in the short time my loved one was there we had multiple incidents occur. The first was that he needed to have his eye medication administered daily, which they said they were taking care of, but I eventually discovered his eye medicine bottle remained sealed and unopened. He was also assaulted by another resident when he was out of his bed wandering one night. I don't know if these were preventable problems, or if it is just due to the difficult nature of memory care.

It was nice but it wasn't as pretty as the community we ended up choosing. The rooms weren't as nice either and they just didn't offer as much for the price.

Toured Monday. Explored Vintage, Assisted and not sure of best placement. Discussed the healthcare wing and flex between units

Mom was ready to make a choice but when we got home there was a message from director they would not make an exception for her dog due to the breed. Which in my educated opinion, is stupid

Very nice facility, but unsuitable for us. The buildings are spread out, and you have to walk outside to get to some activities and meals. The West Bldg. does have a small dining room, and some activities, but it is not what we are looking for.

nice, very small independent population, felt more like a convalescent home than some of the other options, Mom would have to go into assisted living immediately because she uses a walker which means that she can't have a kitchen, but it's still less expensive than some of the others, bridge players, I like that all the residents wear call pendants.

We all like the gardens, price was right, but I did not like that they did not do their laundry or their sheets at all. Also I don't feel safe in that area.

Met with the director on 3/1/12. Given tour. Very nice accommodations. Friendly staff. Very reasonably priced for services needed.

Nice and has a home feel to it. Nice staff. Nice courtyard. Shared rooms.

I feel this community was misleading. I have an odd illness and when the manufacturers stopped providing the medication there was no other alternative. I have a diet of no gluten, dairy, and eggs and there was no alternative food. I didn't like the staff's attire, they wore black clothing. The dinning room was not always open and I noticed there were not many close restrooms. Overall I feel I was mislead in the beginning.
