It's a very nice place but really expensive. They also seem to be a little short handed at times. I toured it and was impressed.

We were in a time crunch when we stopped by this community and the staff was kind enough to do a tour for us as they understood our position and were willing to help. I would definitely recommend taking a tour of this community.

Attentive Tour Guide!!

The tour guide didn't communicate very well. The guide was knowledgeable but didn't provide me with all of the necessary information that i needed. The community was clean and the staff met along the tour were friendly. I got to take a tour of the bedrooms, dinning room and the activity places.

Satisfied, overall

In general our experience with Spring Hills Mount Vernon has been a good one. It's a nice looking place, and the staff members I have met during my visits have been friendly and professional. My loved one is having a little trouble settling in, but he seems to be doing well for the most part. I don't think any of the issues we've had are issues that don't happen at all of these places, so overall we are satisfied!

Beatiful, but...

First of all Spring Hills is probably the most beautiful senior community in Dayton. Beth and Tessa, their marketing people do a fantastic job. But as with any first impressions, once you peel back the layers their are some issues. My mother is in a care level 3 which is supposed to include escorts to and from all meals. It definitely does not happen. My loved one has Alzheimer's so I have to advocate on her behalf which I do by going 3+ times a week for 2-4 hours at a stretch, so I know what I am talking about. The food is mostly very good but is very slow getting out of the kitchen. I prewrite my mother's menu and she waits 30 -45 minutes to get her food on a fairly regular basis. I sit there with other resident family members while staff members walk right by without asking if they need anything. Not good service at all. And I am not the only one who says this. Each resident has a help button but average wait time is 7 minutes plus. They say 5 or less. Very polite staff but promises without results mean nothing to me. My biggest advice; don't drop your loved one off anywhere and believe what they tell you will happen. Visit them often and unexpectedly and keep on them.

Move into Memory Care Facility

Moved ,with great trepidation, our Mother into the Memory Care here. Staff courteous and friendly and easily accessible to family at all times. Most impressed with the Activities. My Mother used to sleep between meals and now participates in most of the activities including ; gardening, games, some cooking, ball throwing and even remote control cars. Staff asks residents to perform tasks they are used to from past such as napkin folding and cleaning tables- some useful feeling. And residents seem to "snap" into things that they are used to from their past lives. Thus far pleased.

A Nice Place to be Part Of

This facility is well maintained. The hallways and common areas are kept clean and have ample walker and wheelchair accessibility. The resident room is also kept clean. The staff is very friendly and always available to help or answer questions. Care services are good but there is a 2 hr time frame between rounds so residents could have situations that may not be addressed quickly. There is however emergency cords in the bathrooms and a signal system on the bedside phone. These two systems do not seem to work well for memory impaired residents. The number of activities is a variety of games, art, music and visiting individuals and groups to entertain the residents. There is nice outdoor space that can be used as a group or just for outdoor sitting or strolling. Visitors are always welcomed and the atmosphere is quite pleasant.

The staff is friendly

This is a nice community but on my last visit there was a strong stench in the facility. When I visit he is usually in his room alone. There should be more outdoor activities. Other than that, The staff is very friendly. He does enjoy the meals. The value is pretty good.

Spring hills. Good but not what they say it is

When I approached Spring Hills about placing my Mom who had a stroke that left Her right side immobile and unable to speak. Throughout the interview process I received nothing but assurance that they could hanfke Mom in her condition and was lead to believe that the assigned level of care(highest) she would receive would address all of her needs. This was sadly misleading. While there is no doubt in my mind the staff cares for the residents their failure to consistently deliver has left me disappointed. I am paying extra for the personal care I was lead to believe was included ( this place is lovely but very expensive to begin with) in monthly fees. With better communication, staffing and practices this place could be great. At present its good and considering it was the best of all I've seen Mom will stay for now.

First Month @ Springhills Singing Woods

Springhills @ Singing Woods is wonderful!! One incident that was a little disappointing was mom's first day there, for dinner time..they knew ahead that she would be there for the meal, and they did not have a seat for her in the dining room. Same situation for breakfast the next morning!! Definately not a good welcome!!!! We love all the activities that are planned. Especially the afternoon music!! All in all, we are pleased with everything, still trying to work out some minor little things! Staff ALL, seem very nice. I must say that the help from A Place For Mom, really helped with our search!!!!!

Spring Hills Livingston is improving, however the parents that do need improving would be the staff turnover and better communication with the families. They just need more staff and spend a little more on entertainment

Pros and cons at Spring Hills Hunters Creek

Staff is helpful and friendly. However, they don't seem to carry out my requests of food portions. My mother has gained over 50 lbs and gone from a size 12-20. She is now in memory care. I have asked to cut all portions in 1/2 so she doesn't feel left out. She has Alzheimer's so is strictly eating out of habit not love for food. She is now very unstable which is only worsened by the weight.

Spring Hills of Lake Mary Review

The facility is nicely kept up. The rooms are good size, but unfortunately it seems like they're staffing problems where they don't always have the appropriate amount of staff. The panic buttons don't always work and on numerous occasions have had an issue, but we're still having problems. The staff that I talk to, you has seem very kind and helpful so I think that this goes above their ability

Spend time. Ask questions. Observe with your heart

They need to improve in communication. I have met with ex dir on this issue. As well as head of nursing... they are a little better but need vast improvement. They did not have introductory meeting with staff when I placed husband; they do not have regular individual meetings between family and staff. They have significant turnover. They do not give me the results of an investigation when an "incident " has happened The aides work hard. But in memory care where needs are higher the ratio of aide to resident is not good enough even if meets va state requirement. I am overall pleased with spring hills mt Vernon. ; however pleased also means significant improvement could be made. I understand how demanding this work is particularly in memory care. And aides are trying given the low pay scale. You lose good people if whole support system is not enough and pay is low. I would recommend you add another category in rating system: COMMUNICATION This is very important- communication. Top down; between staff and very important... to the family They are making an effort since I had a very good meeting with the ex dir a few months ago. I appreciate that. The head of nursing is very good . And the new ex dir is making improvements; all this is good! They need to hire more male aides

High hopes

When we visited facilities we looked at several but kept coming back to how comfortable we were made to feel at spring hills. My was very reluctant to move and it took a lot of coaxing but we did it and it was not smooth after getting him in. I feel like there were a lot of promises made that haven’t been upheld by the nurse. She saw my husband and said his care could be managed easily and was confident but she doesn’t communicate and when she does she is scattered and rude. I feel all I’m ever doing is calling or being called upon to solve matters that are in her hands since he has been placed in their care. I am disappointed with how little effort has been put into getting to know him and encouraging him to come out for any activity. I have seen him get worse since moving him and I feel like we picked the wrong place. The food is great, he doesn’t complain about that and the housekeepers are kind. Care employees leave a lot to be desired.
