This place used to be amazing. The staff is the problem now. The turnover rate here is ridiculous. My mother told me that only two kitchen staff remain from when she moved into the gardens five years ago. Went to address this problem with [Removed] English along with a few other questions i had and was basically verbally abused. She was outright rude and unaccommodating to our request. I asked to speak to her boss and was told she was the boss and any complaint I had could be addressed to her. I was actually worried for my moms well being if we left her there after this interaction with [Removed] and immediately moved my mother to a better, and less rude community. Used to be a top of the line place to bring anyone who wanted to retire but not anymore. Too many problems with management.

Do not come here. This place has gone downhill in the past 6 months. There has been a revolving door on the main nurse position and nearly every caregiver. The food is NOT geared to seniors; the food is salty, spicy, cold, and burned. The cooks are NOT experienced in dealing with seniors. They have made missteps on giving drugs and do not clean the dining facility (tablecoths, etc have food on them). Look elsewhere for now. This place is going downhill.

This community did absolutely horrible taking care of my loved ones. There was never a nurse available at the facility nor was there anyone ever there to distribute the residents medications to them. I cant put into words the lack of care my parents received at Wellington, I would never recommend this place to anyone looking for additional care for there loved ones.

My mother has lived here nine years as an independent. Once she needed assisted living care two weeks ago I have seen enough to move her immediately! Disrespectful and rude. It's terrible how they were speaking to her. No dietitian, food is terrible! Keep looking, don't put a loved one here?

No activities. Gem City is a joke they do not care about the safety of the resident or the family members. The food was good and it looks nice from the outside but please do your homework. I would not recommend this facility. I hope this will help others in the future. We learned the hard way.

On day 1, I called to let this community know we were moving in. When I got there the staff didn't know we were suppose to move-in! It was a rough beginning but now things are good. The staff seem nice and the place seems to okay and clean. My mom get lunch here and she likes the food. I guess I would recommend this place.

Be advised this is a Type A facility. Your loved one must be able to evacuate alone in 13 minutes or less and if they can't, Waterford will kick them out. Save the trouble and find a Type B facility instead. You can search the state database of the Dept of Aging and Disabled for different facilities and the state complaints against them. Wish I'd known that beforehand, would have saved us all a lot of trouble, time, and money.

My father was in the Wildflower Lodge memory care. Please stay away! I can confidently say he was neglected for his 1 year stay there. Each time we went to visit his hearing aids were never working. The "activity" for the day consisted of moving the residents in front of a TV to watch a musical show. The staff barely speaks English and they are NEVER around!! Residents would be left in their wing without a single staff person to be found. We had to search out staff & that was very difficult. One visit my dad actually made it out the front door!!! The lay out of the building is a nightmare for dementia. Long, twisty hallways that a person without dementia could get lost. We left in tears each time we went to visit. We have since moved him to a new memory care and it is a night and day difference. My dad is smiling again! We feel happy to go visit him and leave without feeling like we dumped him in an awful place!!

I recently toured Peregrine in Decatur, the shower rooms were a mess and the halls smelled like urine. The sales lady was nice and informative, but it seemed like she was embarrassed as well. I will not move my mother into Peregrine and would not recommend it to anyone. Poor management and lazy staff

If I could give a negative 5 stars, I would. Do not, under any circumstances, take your loved one to this facility. They (the administration) do not care about your loved one. If your loved one starts becoming "trouble", they will have them out the door faster than you can blink. I had a substantial issue regarding my mother's care and tried to get answers regarding my concerns from the in-house admin office. When no answers were forth coming, I directed it to the national headquarters. I have yet to have a phone call from them either and its been several months. I am left to assume the headquarters approves of the shoddy way families are being treated.We removed my mother from this place and her health has since improved. I was sorely disappointed by the poor treatment the entire family received from this facility.

The place has gone down in the past four years they fired all the good staff and put people in there that don't care very rube all the staff Rachel English very rube inevet never ever sending my mom here .

My mother was at Waterford before it became Waterford and then for a while afterwards. At first it was well staffed and the memory care area was wonderful. Soon after her arrival, the place sold and the care went downhill. Many times I was the only one in the dining area helping the residents eat. When Mother needed help, I had to go find someone since no one was around. It was totally understaffed. Two caregivers for about 22 residents--and these are memory care residents who need constant care and watching. The staff-not the caregivers in the unit- were unprofessional, rude, and basically told us to move Mother because they could not take care of her. Lots went on during Mother's last months there which I will discuss if the information is desired. She was not properly cared for. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Artificial welcome, false hope, heartbreaking to elderly, hidden fees, [removed]. I will publish my experience being at the wellington. The place is lovely, around the corner and convenient. You get overwhelmingly excited for discounts but hidden fees drown you. If you talk with your heart then expect it to be broken. Upon completion of agreement make sure if its for real or is it just a game. It's more of business to their liking. Even at the move in date, ask yourself, is this for real? I'm terribly hurt, saddened. Smoking is allowed but must be escorted. I was so looking forward, and quickly made arrangements. But they discarded my Father due to being smoker. Then why allow agreement in the first place. Very sweet, welcoming, nice place, I couldn't believe the discount offered. (I thought my prayers were answered). an agreement, paid deposit of $500.00. All set, immediately I flew my folks over from another city, which was 9 hours away. I had well informed them my father was a smoker, had been for more than 50 years, quite healthy 82 year old fellow. Just had a birthday day before on 23rd nov. sad n shocking part was, there are many hidden fees which truly adds up, they don't mention to you upfront. The marketing director knew, I had financial difficulties and that I was trying to meet there quotes. They quickly makeup their mind, don't give you a chance and dump you. I felt terribly played, there was no sincerity. Nothing felt genuine, little personal talks felt like garbage. I thought and prayed, what is this! I cried, broke down, couldn't really have lunch. I am shocked, my mum was really sad tearful that all arrangements had been broken. They said it was the smoking not allowed, yet her coworker had already made an agreement to take my father out for smoking. So why have excuse, just say it, it's this much once upon agreement. Then I wouldn't have sent for my folks. Wellington do you know what emotional pain is? Or rather, do you know what it tis, to love your folks unconditionally? ! And whatever savings you have, you hope your father feels home. That thousands of dollars was not ample enough for you. Assisted homes is more business, there is no heart in the matter.

[removed] Residents do not have proper equipment such as transfer boards and lifts. There is only two people working during any given shift and that is not enough to help with all of the residents.

My family member was there for several years in memory unit. If your loved one needs quite abit of attention, this is not the place. There are only 8 people in memory care, however they dropped staff to 1 from 2, which is a safety issue if that person is caring for a resident in their room, the other 7 are alone & many things can happen. Hence, why my loved one is no longer there. The rooms are very nice, we had to furnish everything which can get pricey. Staff is friendly, they now have a nurse on staff which is great. Just depends on what your needs are.

My daughter and I toured, It was pretty terrible. The lunch we were treated to, I had a daddy-long legs stuck to my spoon, and my daughters coffee cup was dirty, when she asked for another one. They brought her another dirty cup. The sales lady did not apologize, she acted like this was normal. The facility seemed shabby, I did not even consider taking my mom there.

My grandma was at Perigrine for a while and it started well but then she started complaining alot. So I started to visit more, I noticed that one person was responsible for many residents on that hall when I was told it would be 2 or more. The residents were just sitting around because there wasn't much for them to do. My grandma gained so much weight, I asked if there were any therapy or excersise classes she could take, apparently there were none because she kept gaining weight. I bought her adult diapers and wipes with my own money and every time I came they went missing, probably some where with some of her missing clothes. Others times I've come there is a foul smell on the hall. Whatever the smell came from caused gnats and that problem wasn't solved for over a month. The point is this place wasn't fit for my grandma. If you love your family member Do Not put them here.

I moved my mother here when we moved to Buffalo a little over two years ago. Supposedly the reputation of Amberleigh was that it was the best that Buffalo has to offer for senior citizens. Heaven help the elderly if that is the case because my mother's experience has been terrible. Unfortunately, she has had a series of problems with the cleaning staff stealing things from her apartment and other residents acting in violent manners. She's had other residents run over her feet or run into her with their scooters and most recently was physically attacked by her neighbor at her door as she was trying to enter her apartment last night. This same resident was reported before for a similar issue and was never spoken to by the management about it. The director is on vacation this week so I'm not able to even get an answer as to why she never addressed this woman about her behavior. Amberleigh has no plans to take any immediate action against this woman so now I'm faced with moving my mom out immediately for her own safety -- even the police officer who took our report last night over the latest incident expressed he thinks the resident is violent. I'm sure this post will get deleted as soon as it's noticed by the management but I will keep re-posting in order to educate those who are considering placing their loved ones at Amberleigh to reconsider their options. It's not a safe environment for your loved ones when the management overlooks violent behaviors by residents and theft by its own employees.
