My father moved in on Dec. 23, 2020. A few days later we received a call at 11PM that he was being rushed to the hospital for chest pains. A few minutes later they called back to let us know they had the wrong patient and it wasn't our father. This was the first alarm bell. Shortly after that the beginning of Jan, 2021 they asked if we would move our father to another room costing over [fee removed] a year more because they were trying to accommodate new move-ins. My father is in the Compass unit which manages memory loss. This could cause unnecessary trauma. This was the second alarm bell. It's very difficult to talk to my father. You have to call a staff members cell phone, which is rarely answered. I cannot recommend this place to anyone that cares for their loved one.

My father was admitted on [date removed]. A few days later around 11PM my sister received a call that our father was being rushed to the hospital due to chest pains. A few minutes later they called my sister again to let her know they had the wrong patient. That was the first alarm bell. My father was there less than two weeks and they wanted us to move him to a larger room increasing the yearly cost by over $25,000.00. They said they needed the room to accommodate two families they were working with. The Compass unit deals with memory issues. This was the second alarm bell. It's a struggle to talk to him because there is no way to reach him other than to call a staff's member cell phone which is rarely answered. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone that cares about the needs of their family member,

Overall my impression was lacking on many levels. There are specific aids and staff members that are phenomenal, but the way they ran things and handled things are not ok. The nurses that work there have their own judgement based on what they think people should have for care vs what is in the contract. My mother had a 30 pound weight loss without any of the family members being notified. The old director was let go and the new director is phenomenal and I do believe that they have hope at Farmington Station.

Yes, the faculty is beautiful. Yes, the nursing staff is incredible and some other employees are great. Otherwise, they have a systemic problem of incompetence and poor customer service. From the top down, there are no expectations placed on the employees. Very few even smile. My mother was so excited when she moved in, but we quickly learned that the sales team over sold and the management under delivered. It was a month before we even knew that the Atria laundered the sheets for us. It took me two months to understand the add-on prices. No one gave us a new resident informational packet or welcome tour. They just sold us on an over prices room with a half kitchen and left us to learn the benefits and policies on our own. My mother recently moved across the street to a building that is not as pretty, but a staff, from maintenance to the Executive Director that makes her feel special every single day.

At first we thought my Mom was happy here then as she needed more assistance Aides began taking advantage and [Removed] her. I witnessed first hand three separate Aides giving my elderly her fallen pills from the floor. When two of the Aides were confronting me and when I reported this to top Administration at the location, I was thanked for pointing this out because there is not a written rule to not give pills off the floor! So they have Aides attend a handwashing in service but they need a written rule for not giving pills off the floor?! Absolutely disgusting! At the end of my Mom's stay she said she felt the Aides did not care. Really sad.

If I could rate at a zero, I would. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. They either don't do assessments correctly or they accept 2 person assist residents that they're not equipped to care for. Either way, they advertise that they accept 2 person assists and they shouldn't. My loved one isn't mobile, they knew this. Her very first day here she was left in bed until housekeeping came into her room at 10am the next day. No one checked on her and she knew it, she was just waiting for someone to come into her room so that she could tell them. When the housekeeper came in, she was so upset and made it known. She had a slight cough when she moved in. They were aware of it. She'd been seen and tested negative for Covid and they said it was ok to move her in. After this incident, conveniently, they were concerned about her cough and wanted her to be assessed in the ER. Ultimately, she was sent to another facility for PT. This facility told us she could come back after completing PT. She did PT for a month and improved SO much. The PT facility cleared her to come back to Farmington Station and when the time came, they said she couldn't come back! She was better than before, PT was an incredible help and her strength was better than ever. But they said no to her coming back. Basically, they didn't want to deal with her care needs. We were literally left stranded. I just wish they had been honest from the beginning and not accepted her if they couldn't provide her care needs. Other facilities were and that was ok with us. But they did an assessment before she moved in and cleared her to move in, even knew about the cough. Why? We definitely feel like this place is run like a business and residents are just numbers. This whole experience caused so much emotional stress for her and was just unnecessary. And it broke her trust in us. I could go on and on about the way this whole thing was handled and the damage it caused. Thankfully, she's in a much better place now and doing so well. But I want others to know this, I don't want this to happen to another family.
The tour itself and the follow-up paperwork was a nightmare.

I would not recommend Compass on the Bay for care. I recently Visited and noticed that residents were just sitting doing nothing. There were no events or any engagements going on. Management was rude when i asked what the activities for the day were. Location was nice. But im not sure for the over expensive price that i would want my mom just sitting doing nothing all day. So we will be looking at other communities.
