Older facility but very nice, big rooms

My mom stayed here for about a week. It’s a much older facility, built in the 50s I believe, and originally it was senior living apartments. Just from the small amount of time she was there, I liked them. I liked the size of the rooms because they were bigger than a few other places we had looked at and the kitchenettes in the rooms were much more spacious. There were lots of big trees around and it just looked nice. I wasn’t able to have a whole lot of interaction with the staff there because when I had brought her, I was leaving for vacation. They seemed friendly enough, though, and she didn’t complain about her stay. She said everything went okay.

Great staff and facility. Give them a call

My parents live here. The maintenance man works very hard to keep everything repaired Tiddy. The housekeepers work very hard to clean and be friendly to everyone. The food is great, love the salad bar and soup of the day! Not from a can but made with fresh ingredients. The activities are fun and very organized. Ursula is very personable and so is Wes. Wes reads to the people with vision problems. The management team work very hard to keep everyone safe and deal with everyday problems of a senior. Loss of memory, loss of friends and just loss. It takes a lot of action to keep 100 people safe and assisted. The care givers are true caregivers. They truly care and go over and above to help. Two nurses RN Kathy and Lpn Marcus, friendly and dedicated to the residents. Please stop by and meet the marketing lady Becky. She helped with my mom and dad with insurance questions, and lots of other questions. They are also being renovated with new paint flooring ect.

would like to see some gluten free options

Overall it has been a good experience at Sea View Senior Living Community. It would be nice if the food served could be catered to special diets. My mom is gluten intolerant and I would like to see some gluten free options given. Other than that things are good at this facility.

Nice place overall, a few ways they could improve

Overall things have worked out well with Sea View Senior Living. In terms of the care and services they provide I think they do a good job. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The marketing person we worked with, Sonya, was very helpful through the whole move-in process and made that very easy. They also do a great job with the food here, it tastes good, the portions are a nice size, and it seems nutritious. There are a few concerns I've had, however. During the touring process they mentioned that they put a lot of effort into helping new residents get integrated socially into the community, and I haven't seen much of that going on. This was a big selling point for me, so I'm disappointed in that regard. I've also noticed that my loved one's room gets very hot, and the windows in the living room area are not the type you can open.

she seems happier now

My mother-in-law has already made friends and its only been a week. Everyone is very nice and the food is so much better than some of the other places we have visited. She loves to play bingo and she loves having a little patio off her apt. The grounds are well maintained. Had a few problems getting her meds on time, things are better now.

Conscientious and Accommodating

I'm not in Clovis but I talk to them all the time and I talk to my brother who close. They seem to be very conscientious and my mom is getting good care. They were very accommodating. My mom has pets and they were very accommodating with her pets. They've been very very good with me and good with her. I think the price is fair. We looked at several places and it seems to be in the ball park.

Good facility, clean, well managed. ...

Good facility, clean, well managed. Had several units on ground floor with patio doors. 3 meals, sometimes BBQ, activities. Annual increase between 3-6% Have 23 retirement residents + 50 or so in assisted living. Housekeeping/laundry 1x per wk. Beauty salon $13-15 with $35 for perm. Free cable but $20/mo for phone. $50.00 for guest room. Rm = $2500+500 second person. Can have pet, I believe laundry is residents responsibility-don't know re linen & towels.

Our Family's Experience

Our loved one is happy there which her happiness is the most important thing for us. She has made friends and enjoys the activities they have going on - although we do wish they had a little bit more physical activities. Now there are some areas of improvement - they are experiencing pretty high turnover's within their staff team which trickles down to the overall quality of care - especially the consistency regarding hygiene maintenance. However the staff they do have working there are very good and we know almost everyone on the staff team. They are very friendly and they do care. Anytime we have a concern and we bring it to their attention they get right on it. We do wish there was some clarity regarding who is in charge, that would be very beneficial for families and their loved ones.

highly recommendable for assisted living

I loved Valley Vista. It is an amazing place, very clean and the staff were awesome. They were very understaffed. They said they could accommodate my mother who was not mobile, but they were not able to do so. The frequency of care was lacking. It is a great place but not the right fit for her. They actually gave us money back because they could not fulfill the promises that they made us. It is totally worth checking out, especially for assisted living or those who need less care. I would live here myself!

Tour experience

Skylark Senior Living was still kind of in disarray when we went to tour. They had construction going on and are trying to get things to look better but I think it is going to take a while. Right when you walk in it is dark and dreary and kind of depressing. The director tried his best, but I just do not think the facility is up to scale yet.

Pros & Cons

Price on Senior Advisor is not accurate. Almost $3000/month for a private room with the minimum allowable level of care. My mom lives here. Some big pluses and some big negatives. Good value and that's hard to find these days. A nice and diverse group of residents so there is a compatible friend for anyone seeking companionship here. Larger than average room size. Great location! Very nice, free guest room. The negatives: loads of staff turnover which is not good for the residents OR the staff. I get the distinct impression that if an employee OR a resident expresses "room for improvement" to management that they are fired or intimidated. In my opinion the medical care has been terrible. Prescriptions not filled in a timely manner and Mom out of drugs on several occasions. Once mom had a cut on her leg- resident physician's assistant stuck a band-aid on it without using antiseptic and Mom got a dangerous infection that became an emergency. Check out Hillcrest Assisted Living 83705 on Indeed.com to see what employees have said about working here.

Felt more like a hotel than a home

I toured this brand new facility and it looked very nice and smelled very clean. However, it was also very big and didn’t feel like home. It felt like a hotel and a little cold. The person that gave us the tour seemed fairly knowledgeable, but I didn’t feel like we walked away completely informed about what to expect. They had a few activities available and while I took my tour they were conducting a group exercise activity. Ultimately, this community just didn’t fit the needs of my family.

Friendly staff and great activities with serious red flags

Initially good, but three months into stay and they haven't fixed problems they promised to fix on check-in, with several reminders; had a worker using my mom's TV when she wasn't there and without permission; with left body weakness they failed to diagnose a stroke or call ambulance; and recently, a worker asked my mom to write a will to give my mom's dog to the worker
