Perfect Place for Mom!

Overall experience was positive and a great transition to the next level of care. The front office staff were amazing as was the administrator! They helped us, the family, walk through the process of my mother's diagnosis and showed her compassion. The staff was greatly overworked but always showed kindness to the residents. The staff being the CNAs and nurses.

Review for Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge

Runk and Pratt bought it this past Summer. Some of the longer term residents have some complaints about changes, but I'm not clear on the specifics. We've had no issues thus far (3 months). Good value for independent living. . My parents have been there 3 months, this is the first retirement community they have lived in. So far, they are satisfied with it.

Very Loving Staff Makes It a Home Away From Home! Very loving Staff

The heart of the staff at Liberty Ridge' Runk and Pratt wonderful. They are compassionate and patient. Though no senior care residence is perfect, they love the residents as they would their own family. They are also very welcoming to family. The dining director excellence and dining facility's cleanliness as well as the activities director's hard work, love and fun planning great activities are way above par. I'm very grateful for our decision to have our family at Runk & Pratt's Liberty Ridge.

Good but not Great

The staff at Pearls of Life are kind, patient and generally seem to take good care of my mom. My only concern is the medical care my mom has received. They discourage maintaining relationships with my mother’s primary care doctor in favor of a physician paid by Runk and Pratt. Despite numerous reports by me of significant ankle and calf swelling, it took nearly 2 weeks for the facility physician to visit my mom. Medical care seems ok once provided. I do intend to maintain PCP relationship as much as possible. The facility is clean, my mom says the meals are good, and they encourage residents to participate in activities.

My mother has been comfortable at this facility

I feel like mom has had a good experience so far; at time, it has been a bit difficult to see that not a lot of staff is around the stations to monitor what is going on with the residents. That to me, is concerning especially with the elderly, but I also understand that it is not a “nursing care facility.” Knowing my mom is happy makes me happy.

Our experience

My mother-in-law really likes it there which makes us happy! The communication from the assisted living could be better and we have brought that to their attention! There are quite a few activities provided for residents, but she only goes to BINGO. These facilities are all too expensive, but this one is more reasonable than any in the area we live in.

Friendly Atmosphere

I live In a different state, so this review is based on the feedback she has shared with me. Overall she is happy, loves the people and staff. The facility is fine and the food is very basic and could use some work. Very friendly atmosphere and great activities during the week.

Staff are very friendly and eager to help. Housekeeping -room was always clean and facility clean. Family moved everything in, but I left a lot of furniture and the people were fine with that. They said that they will get rid of it, which made it easy for us. My loved one didn't like the food, but it looked good and had a variety. She just couldn't eat due to her mouth being sore and inflamed. She was at the facility for 5 weeks before she passed. I would recommend it, it's one of the best that my husband and I looked at. It could have been a fun place, if my loved one wasn't so ill.

Grateful for Quality Care at Pearls of Life

We transferred our mom to this facility [time frame removed] as restrictions from the pandemic were being lifted. From the beginning of our experience, we received stellar care. The Director of the facility actually picked my sister and mom up from the airport to assist with the transfer-way beyond the call of duty! He went out of his way to ensure that our mom assimilated to the facility by checking on her frequently and making her feel special. We are so very grateful for his care and assistance in helping our mom transition. As many facilities around the nation were adjusting to post-COVID norms, so has POL. I have seen that they've struggled with finding and maintaining staff, which has made it hard to provide continuous care. However, I have also seen their efforts to hire personnel who go above and beyond to support their residents with care, compassion and dignity. Working with people who have Dementia can be very difficult, but POL staff seem committed to kindness and appropriate care for their residents. The new Director who was recently hired seems to understand the challenges of Dementia and how to provide quality care. Having a background in Hospice as a RN, she has the qualifications and experience she needs to implement her vision of quality care for her residents. As siblings we are grateful that our mom is in this safe space where she receives the kind of care she deserves.

Good place overall

It has been a good experience overall. The apartment is great. One thing is the lighting in the bathroom, it would be nice to have an overhead light in the shower. And my loved one wishes there were more food options.

I Was Hoping For Better For My Loved Ones

This is a nice looking community. The administrative staff is quite friendly and helpful. The apartments seem very nice. The food is good with choices for the residents to choose from. The care needs some improvement with additional staff being hired. There 180 residents in the community. There are times that the care is delayed or non-existent due to the shortage of staff. Some of the staff and residents have a language barrier and this has a cause for concern due to the residents not being able to understand or hear the staff. There are times that the residents are having to plead for bathing assistance. The family is concerned what will happen as our loved ones may need additional care in the future. There are quite a few activities available for the residents to participate in though.

the staff is amazing

One of the big things that really sold us on Runk and Pratt is the fact that they have a doctor on-site for the residents, we love the fact that our loved one does not have to travel to appointments. They also offer transportation to the VA which was another huge added feature. No matter what we needed we can pick up the phone and call them and there is always someone there to get things done and are quick to address any issues. We do wish they had more of a meal selection, they only offer one meal option with an additional alternative menu but we wish they just even offer a second option. Our loved one does not always participate in the activities but when we are there visiting, from what we can see of the activities they look fabulous. We would recommend this community to other families based on our experience.

I'm Too Sexy for This Place

I would encourage you to keep looking at communities. Runk and Pratt has a nice atmosphere, and most of the residents seem happy here. The community is lovely. The only thing I don't care about is that there isn't enough land to have outdoor activities for residents. They have a few concrete porches for the residents to stand outside, and there isn't a place to put rocking chairs for the residents to use.

Tour of Runk and Pratt

I had a good tour experience with Runk and Pratt. The location was further than we were looking for and we were looking for a place that had all inclusive pay so we knew what we would be paying each month.

Our experience with Runk and Pratt

Of all the facilities we checked out in the area, this was by far the best one. With that being said, there is a shortage of staff members and I feel like the quality of care has gone downhill. They have not been able to follow through on the promises that were made in the beginning when moving in. I would not say that Runk and Pratt is a bad place, it is just not what we were expecting. All of the staff members that I have interacted with have been very friendly and [name removed] at the front desk has been especially amazing. If you are checking out this facility, just make sure to ask every question you have, get an answer, and write it down.

My experience with Runk and Pratt

We chose this facility at the time because of the activities that they had to offer and my parents had friends who were already living here. They have various sizes of rooms, but they seem pretty adequate for what they needed. The only negative we had was that they seemed to be consistently short staffed. As far as administration, my parents had long term care insurance, and they were always 2-3 months behind. It is a beautiful facility an the nursing staff and med techs were fabulous and took great care of my parents. Overall, I would recommend.
