Nice place, overall

Overall things have gone well at Sparks Inn. It's a nice looking, clean facility, and the staff seem responsive and friendly. I think they could do a bit better when it comes to introducing new residents to the community, however. It's a big place, and it can be a hard transition for those who were used to living on their own. Just having a buddy system or a guide the first week or two to help introduce residents to the activities would help immensely!

things in flux, but making improvements

I think they switched owners/management right before my mom moved in. This created a bit of a headache getting everything set up, and some things are still in flux. On the plus side, they are doing town halls once a month to give the residents a chance to say what they do and don't like, and give management a chance to make changes accordingly. The executive directly was EXTREMELY NICE and helpful. They are handling my moms meds, and she has complained about them not always being timely with giving her meds. I actually wish we had moved her in earlier than we did.

Very nice place!

We're very pleased with how things have gone at Heritage of Peachtree! It's a well kept, clean, nice looking place. The staff have all been very very friendly, and they appear to take great care of the residents. They just do a great job overall here!

I toured Heritage and it was nice. I really liked the staff here. My concern was that everything would have been on the second floor, and we were looking more for ground level. It was a very nice place though.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I thought this was a nice looking community, and it is definitely something we would have considered for our loved one. I wasn't a fan of the pricing structure here, I preferred the all-inclusive pricing of some other communities we toured.

A bit on the basic side, but seems it would do the task. The only real problem I have is that it seems pretty far from everything in terms of its environment (nowhere to go independently in his electric chair). We would like to take some steps here too.

This was an option we considered for my loved one when we were looking into care options. It looked like this place would do a good job of providing for her needs, unfortunately it was much more expensive than the other options we were looking into.

Didn't have a chance to get things stabilized

My father, with a aplce for moms help, moved them into Forest Heights and he was there for three weeks before he died and he was in the hospital for some of that time. It was good, we had a few concerns but then again, he wasn't there all that long to get a grasp on it. There were some concerns with the nursing staff, they were generally good, but at that point he needed a lot of diabetic checks and things like that but it was such a brief, fluctuating time through no fault of them.

Forest Heights - Bridge to Rediscovery (memory care wing)

My Dad, who has progressive dementia and aphasia, recently moved into Forest Heights' memory care wing, which they call "Bridge to Rediscovery". I chose Forest Heights vs. other facilities due to its relatively small size, high staff to resident ratio, its attractive environment (much like a nice hotel), and the friendly, caring staff. It is also located ideally between my home and work so it's easy to fit visits into my schedule. The other memory care wing residents at Forest Heights seem calmer and more content than the other facilities I toured. I've been pleased with the level of attention my Dad seems to be getting and am especially happy that he is taken on weekly group outings with regular assisted living residents. He is adjusting to his new life there and seems to be responding well to increased levels of attention and activities vs. what he was getting at home with just my disabled sister as caregiver plus a part-time CNA. I am very pleased with Forest Heights so far, after 1.5 months!

I didn't go with them because the rates weren't as good and there was some turn over with the staff. The tenure wasn't there. It was also an individual thing of location. The place that we chose was more convenient.

We moved our mother from another assisted living facility because of poor communication and lack of detail. We are hoping that this facility is able through better corporate structure and systems to keep us abreast of any changes good or bad that occur. These facilities are all different and it really depends on the leadership (Executive Director is new) and staffs attention to detail. One important item that sealed our decision is that the state of Georgia is changing their healthcare regulations for assisted living and we felt confident that although this facility is still categorized as a personal care home will soon have their assisted living license. This will allow our mother to age in place longer. Only time will tell. Keeping our fingers crossed.
