Review for Legacy Ridge at Brookstone

Legacy Ridge is a great place for someone looking for a smaller laid back community. We've been pleased in general with Legacy Ridge. I rated the Care Services lower because my mother doesn't always respond well to others (other than family) helping her. It's so hard to communicate with her due to hearing and memory loss.

Decent but not perfect

I moved my mom in about six months ago. She's very happy there and has a nice room. Have had a couple of maintenance issues. I wonder how things would be if I didn't live in town and check in on her weekly. That's the only thing - you have to check in, otherwise the staff are quite nice and back area by the lake is quite beautiful.

A little of both

The facility was beautiful and the staff was also, but the food was horrible and the price was crazy. I know it's not the chefs fault, they have to work with what they have, but it was terrible. I had to order Uber Eats half the month and it was just way too expensive

My loved one was previously a resident at Madison Heights at Prado and the overall experience for us at this facility was good. The staff was good, however, there was not enough of them. The cleanliness and friendliness were great. As for the value for cost, it was very expensive.

Our Family's Experience After 1 year.

My aunt loves where she is and has made some good friends. When given the option to move, she chose to stay put. The facility itself is very clean, however, sometimes my aunts room needs a better or extra cleaning, especially if she's had an accident. My only complaints with care are (1) that there sometimes seems to be a failure to communicate between physician and patient and patient's family; and (2) meds are sometimes late, especially on weekends. I think it's that way anytime contract staff is used, which is typically on weekends. I've seen much worse at other facilities. I believe my aunt would give them a 4 for food h/e she has always been hard to please in a restaurant environment. Embarrassingly so. They have wonderful seasonal/holiday programs with resident participation and they take their more mobile residents out to eat occasionally, which my aunt enjoys. Compared to other facilities we looked at, Forest Heights is a very good value for the money.

pros and cons at Colonnade

I like this place. I like the general feel of it. Casual and for the most part caring. I think they could elevate the food a bit. And tighten up the management. My mother complains but not in a nasty way. My mom is an entitled 94 year old woman who has been independent for 40 years. This is a new experience for her. I feel fortunate that we found this place. She has a balcony that looks over a lake. I wish she would be more social. We looked at many different places. When they showed us the room at Colonnade, room with a view, it was the best on all points.

Staff is wonderful - Needs more attention to cleaning rooms and laundry

They are better than most memory cares. I think they cut their cleaning staff and now rely on the MA's and nurses to also clean. The people are very nice. They definitely could be cleaner, they lose her clothes, blankets, pillows all the time.

Our Experience

Everything is great, but the communication with the family has been poor recently. Finally today [name removed], the Director of resident care, called me and answered my 3 questions. It shouldn't have taken two weeks, but I'm glad that she finally called. It used to be that the communication with the family was very good.

The Colonnade at Beckett Lake review

Beautiful facility & grounds. Lots of windows, light, many rooms have fully screened in patios with views. Staff in general very kind. Offer shuttle services for appts & activities. Only down side (after the fact) was lack of coordination with sales staff, medical staff, & activity staff. Shared that this was available but after the "sale" part was done, none of the other care/or specific staff were introduced or had the opportunity to sit & understand the process, communication, or otherwise. Many options just a lack of coordination. It's been a challenge to obtain this information. And a-lot of work on the family that should occur up front. Also should be noted - this location is a "private" facility meaning if your loved one is eligible for aid & assistance they don't take it. So use the medication assistance & other medical services as that part is covered. They also offer in house physicians, podiatry etc. But Aid/Assistance does not go towards rent. In general our family member is happy & made friends quickly. The beautiful grounds adds to positive mental health.

Mom dreamed of living on a lake. The Colonnade at Beckett Lake made her dream come true

The staff that I have interacted with have been helpful and friendly and determined that my mother have a good experience. The communication between the community and the family I found to be less than adequate. It would be really helpful to know when housekeeping comes in, when laundry day is and how we stay on top of these things, so my mother is not inconvenienced and family members don't find themselves doing laundry and changing the bed. I have not had the food, but my understanding is that it is acceptable quality but not much variety. The move in process was easy. Paperwork was uncomplicated. The staff should hold orientations with new families, explaining all the ins and outs and the best way to make the most of their family members stay at the residence. I would recommend this facility, it offers fair pricing for the level of care.

Friendly Community

Forest Heights has been a good place for my 86-year old aunt recovering from a broken femur. Rehab has been excellent. She especially enjoys the resident exercise classes. The staff has been both encouraging and supportive in her quest to get better and get out of her wheelchair! This is a good facility and the fees are in-line or lower than other similar facilities.

Madison Heights at the Prado

We liked facility and [name removed] She was so helpful and caring. Continued checking on mom and us before we got her there. Mother gets good care. Love her room as it is like hers in the home she lived in. I'm comfortable not having to check on her every day. Would she rather be at her home? Yes but she also knows it's not possible and has been adjusting.

The 3 on cleanliness is based on having to clean Grandpa's toilet area a few times. It's a nice place, and they care about their patients. They are recovering from Covid effects like everybody else. They are having a hard time hiring and maintaining employees like a lot of employers. Overall it still better than the other two facilities we visited.

Very good

The Oaks-Scenic View Assisted Living is a wonderful place for your loved one. It is a very nice facility that is clean and has been well kept. The entrance, sitting area, dining room, and activity room are great areas for residents to gather. Snacks and soft drinks are available all the time. My mother has been there several weeks. The staff is very accommodating. I asked for an extra bar in the bathroom and it was installed within an hour! Everyone is so caring. They are always available to answer any questions I have and to keep me informed. They make sure residents attend any activities that may interest them. Thank you to [name removed] (the administrator) for helping to make my mother's transition so easy for me. He is so kind and caring. Thank you to all the staff at the Oaks!
