I didn't like their communication. They ended up denying our loved one based on behavioral issues, but it took them about three weeks to get back with us to let us know that. I think they could have been more upfront with that information sooner.

You must be VERY careful about what you sign and agree to. We were not told that you pay EXTRA for every little thing such as being reminded to go to dinner, cleaning your glasses, etc. Anything they advertise, such as transportation to and from dr. appointments, you are charged extra.

Giving this 4 Stars to make sure this review displayed. I would actually give this community 2 stars. Proceed with Caution! Respite Care was needed for our loved one, his wife & primary caregiver was scheduled for a major surgery. Full payment was required in advance. The intake process with the nurse at Prestige was a great experience, they understood his needs for medication, assistance with dressing, bathing and the restroom. They also confirmed a private room with a TV. The community is clean and updated. Upon check-in, the agreed upon arrangement of a TV in the room was not set up, but they promised they would get it taken care of. The following morning, we stopped in and he was still in his clothes that he was wearing when he arrived, his medication had not been administered, he indicated that it took forever for someone to answer the call cord to assist him with the restroom, he was helped to the restroom but no assistance was given for incontinence and resulted in him soaking wet overnight. The staff said there had been a misunderstanding and that they fully understood what needed to be done. Later that day, another family member stopped in and the staff did not know if he was there let alone what room he was in. They questioned whether we had the correct community and perhaps he was staying somewhere else. There was a lot of texting among staff to figure out where he was. There still wasn’t a TV in the room. Management took all day to return our calls from the morning. It was finally a call from the corporate office asking us to give them another chance. At this point, trust had been broken and we removed our loved one from this community. A refund was issued several days later. This community has good reviews, but there are no reviews from actual residents. The staff (very young staff) to resident ratio seems very low. I urge you to look at the job posting sites like Indeed. This company has horrible reviews from employees. I do not recommend Prestige Senior Living High Desert.

When I arrived, I found it to be unorganized, there was not available staff to either help or offer direction and some of the attitudes were negative as well. The facility has not reached out to me and did not communicate a plan when first arrived.

The rehab therapy is pretty good and it is helping. It's pretty clean but some things are falling apart here and there; it's an older building. Overall, the experience could be improved, there's not enough people. My loved one needs help to bathroom, and has to do it himself. The food is terrible. Have been waiting to hear back from them on insurance coverage.

Beautiful courtyard, nice yard makes it serene. The rehab therapy has done well, the therapist has worked with him few times and they respect him if he says no. The therapist are more understanding and will keep at it. There's a few nice and cheerful but aren't part of his care. The bells are ignored, several times I see lights going off and nurses are on their butts. It's more noisy in areas than others It smells bad. It sucks, people yell "help me" and they continue to do so. Nurses walk by and will not help someone to get up. If I ask questions they act like they are too busy and are not compassionate.

My mother in law stayed here. we had a bad experience, they did not check on my mother in law, or they would not ask the right questions during our interview process. She was on a walker they assumed she was capable of walking on her own. No escort available to my mother. The staff needs to be more attentive to the patients.

I spoke to Amanda on the phone. This is the most convenient location, but focuses on assisted living. I think at this point Mom would prefer independent living. Amanda did say the community is quite active.

When we first looked at this facility we were told about the food options and flexibility for dietary restrictions. Although they do not accommodate specific diets, the representative expressed an opening to meet clients needs. Unfortunately all means come down from a corporation who has been unwilling to consider our loved ones kidney needs when plotting items for meals. The food is horrible. Meat is rarely able to be cut and is often served like warm or cold. When residents united about improving the food, promises were made but food quality has not been changed. Alternatives are supposed to be available but rarely are prepared. Most of the staff are friendly but some are snappy and outright rude to our parent. The rooms are to be cleaned weekly but most often they are understaffed and not cleaned. The new director [Removed] (since they fired the staff) has not returned our phone calls and has been inaccessible when we have attempted to contact him. There are bright spot with the new activity director who really seems to care about the residents. It's interesting that the management treats the residents as if they should be lucky to live there when they should be treating them like residents who pay to live there. We are sadly disappointed in the experience of this facility.

We had to pull our mom out from their memory care facility after only a month and a half. She gained 30 lbs in 2 weeks and was horribly bloated on her ankles and hands, the staff actually said "oh, I didn't really notice." They placed a roommate in with our mom [Removed] and yelled at her to get out everyour time my mom was just trying to be in her room, then they called my mom's doctor to complain that OUR mom had anger issues... because she was upset at being yelled at. When our mom got a bad stomach bug, they sent her to the hospital, when we brought back 3 days later, they hadn't cleaned the vomit or diarrhea off the carpet or walls yet. Her sheets were still missing and half her clothes were missing. It took us another 3 or 4 days to get them to finally locate her comforter. They are terribly understaffed, and absolutely awful communication skills, and really just failed at taking good care of our mother with alzheimers. We were so disappointed.

it was obviously that there has been multiple changes in management. this made me avoid the place. also, feed back from others said it did not deliver what people were paying for. I didn't like the required $2000 activites charge up front.

This community and company are a shame. The turnover is terrible. Prestige has had 8 Executive Directors in the last year. There is no accountability for staff when breaking state regulations or Prestige company policies. The only Executive Director they had that tried to hold staff accountable, they fired. Why? Because accountability hurt staff feelings. Think twice before moving your loved one into this community if they are more concerned with staff feelings than doing the right thing, how well are they going to care for YOUR loved one?

If you have a choice (and I did not), I strongly suggest against choosing Chehalem Post Acute in Newberg. Communication is severely lacking. Attempts to call the facility result in lengthy wait times with unpleasant hold music. Calls to staff frequently go unanswered and are rarely returned. My father was a resident for three weeks before anyone gave us an update, and that conversation was partly to inform us he was being discharged the next day. Upon my father’s transfer to his assisted-living facility, he arrived wearing unrecognizable clothing. Every item of his personal attire and belongings, aside from his underwear and the shoes he was wearing, was stolen. My father now exhibits definite signs of trauma following his stay at Chehalem Post Acute in Newberg. ——— The following is a critique from the resident's son: ——— As I am certain many people find themselves in the same position each day, I will provide my, personal, experiential notes. The facility, Chehalem Post-Acute Rehabilitation, while providing a “post-acute” location to be transferred to, it is not a facility which I would wish to be transferred. Nor, did I want to leave my father there at all, however, I simply had no other choice. To be blunt, it is not a place of recovery and improvement. It is more a place of human storage. I do not want to make it sound as if the staff do not care, or are not professional. However, overall the facility and its operation is severely lacking appropriate organization (policy, standards, procedures, processes, and review). My personal experiences while at the location, and within the facility are ones of chaos, lacking orchestration, and flirting with the edge of outside limits of compliance. This facility would absolutely benefit an internal or state audit, providing the facility Director and leadership a detailed Gap analysis of current business operations, communications information tracking, patient care, and medical documentation/operations procedure guide. There should be ongoing Gap remediation and a plan of action in place currently to prove compliance upon request by regulatory authorities. (i.e.; HIPPA, Oregon State statutes and healthcare facilities).

1. Terrible 2. Less than needed. From the time of move in the cupboards had old food crumbs in all the cupboards 3. 20% friendly, 80% "not my job". 4. Very little help available or offered. 5. Distrusting of what they say and then see what they actually do. 6. Awful. Common foods were not identifiable. How does one destroy asparagus? 7. Didn't participate. 8. Complete waste of money.

Totally misrepresented initially. Low number of workers. Very rude and dishonest administrator. Things have leveled out finally but I was told I was going to be included in monthly reviews. Not. I was told her fees would be $[removed]+ for level 6+ care. Her bill was $[removed] plus. I put calls in to admin, marketing dept and finance dept. never returned my calls. Not one to this day. Very disappointed. But… have nowhere else to take her. [name removed] was really having a hard time w the transition and upset quite a bit initially - she just had to sell her home, car and had lost all of her savings. A real lack of professionalism and compassion for her . Initially she only got 2 showers in 2 1/2 weeks and is incontinent. They kept sending in a very young man to do her showers which she wasn’t comfortable with… and when she refused they just didn’t do one for her. Incredible experience. Things seem to be a bit better now. I have to make this work. It’s been a terrible experience however getting here.

They refused to pick my family member up from the emergency room, repeatedly. Bland food. There are much better places for less money. They raised the rent considerably so we got out of there. Don’t bother with this place unless you have No other options.

The executive director and RN are new to West Hills as of early 2023. While there are some very sweet, helpful patient care aides, the overall situation at West Hills is extremely dysfunctional. Both of my parents, 89 and 91, live here. They do not feel management cares or even sees them. A resident told me she feels like she is treated like an animal here. Another one, who is wheelchair bound, said that one needs to be able to take care of themself to live here. While advertised as "restaurant-style dining," the quality of the food and sanitation of the dining area fall way short of what anyone would accept at a restaurant. There has been no bus service for shopping and no exercise classes for months. The place is extremely understaffed. Call wait times for assistance may be anything from fairly immediate to 45 minutes--and sometimes there is no response at all. Residents are charged a fortune for terrible care. My siblings and I are supplementing my parents' care heavily.

We were not impressed with Prestige Senior Living. The building is very old and they were trying to do some remodels, but it still felt dark and dingy to us. The presentation was not good, it was a depressing environment.

Oh my gosh... where do I start? Patient was brought to facility, weighed, spoke to briefly, and then left in the room in a wheel chair for .several hours with instructions to not get out of the chair. She was unable to get anyone's attention for the bathroom, so eventually made her way by herself. The room she was placed in was bland and worn out - inexpensive bookcase/cabinet in the room had doors broken off. She called us, crying, and wanting to leave. Only when the staff heard we were going to remove her did they go in and talk with her....to have her fill out forms for admission. One individual was very compassionate to her, but when we came to get her, the other staff seemed cold and distant. Horrible experience.

I was appalled by the things I witnessed while my Mother was there! Residents left in dining area for at least half an hour before someone was notified and escorted back to their rooms. If they were lucky to get to meals, which many residents would have missed, was told it is assisted living. we are not responsible to get them to meals. Staff many times all on break together,including Office Manager, Med Techs, both on staff, and Caregivers. I witnessed this personally during one of my visits. I couldn't find a staff member and was told they were in the back smoking.
