Nice but kinda cold

There were not activities happening while our loved one was there because of the pandemic, but they did keep their library open for the residents.

The staff is always available. The residents are upbeat and very inclusive to newcomers. That has made the move much easier. Only complaint is the food. Some of the meals are disappointing but not all, and the kitchens in the apartments allow generous space for preparing additional meals at home. (Apartment in Independent Living) The facility has a good schedule of activities and outings. Coffee's always on and very social. A must see before choosing a place to live.

So far it has been a good experience. but she has only been there for two months. She has not really done no activities yet.

What they have done well is that they have made the process fairly simple of getting my loved one in to the facility. There was some confusion about how they assessed him and the level of care he was rated at, so they could improve in that area.

The food is excellent however, the service in the dining room is very poor.

Mom said she likes the food and it is a very bright place.

We have problems with laundry not coming back in a descent time and items getting mixed up. We have have problems with medicine not being ordered so mom did without for a few days. The food at this facility needs updating. The wait time of getting food is very bad also. The staff has good intentions but some times they take too long in handling what mom needs. Overall several things need improving at Prestige Senior Living High Desert.

No one ever seems real happy with the food. Overall, it is okay. The location Prestige Senior Living is in, well the property of the facility is nice, but it is not in the greatest area. It is nice enough though.

I think they are doing a pretty good job, but my mom isn't entirely happy. It's clean, and the staff is friendly, and they are responsive. I know she would like more food choices, and there seems to be less people here than the place she moved from, there were more people to mingle with there that she likes. It seems like a lot of the places we looked at had more medical facilities, where this place was more social. The layout of the room was perfect, and she has a great view.

They recently changed management and so old management was great but the new management I’m not so sure about yet. I don’t know whether it a transitional thing or what but they don't seem as attentive to my needs and my mother's needs. I think the care is pretty good. There are plenty of activities. They have card games all the time, social time, outings, exercise class. My mom isn’t taking advantage of those but they are there. The value is kind of hard to judge because we recently had to increase the care which increased the price. I think they're very attentive and do what needs to happen with mom. The other weeks I asked them to please encourage mom to go on the drive that they have a couple times a week. One of the ladies called me to let me know there was a drive but mom had physical therapy scheduled and asked me what I would like them to do. I thought that was very thoughtful.

They recently have changed ownership within the last couple of weeks. We didn't know was happening until after it happened. I think it's fine but it's always a change and it affects all the people who work there which of course affects all the residents. It was a little uncertain for a while because they didn't know if anyone was going to lose their jobs. If I had a question about the bill I wasn't sure who to contact. Both my brother and I thought that I would just go and visit mom and purchase groceries and take mom to appointments since I living in the same town. I would say that I don't know how she would get the things she needed if I wasn't there doing them for her. She has short term memory issues so it hard for her to remember to do small things like buy more toilet paper. She's in the independent living so there are meals and housekeeping. The housekeeping is okay. I think the meals that I've had there are not incredible, they're just okay. They do offer activities. A real plus is the folks that work there have an understanding for people who are having memory loss issues since they have memory care. I appreciate that because although mom is independent she does have some memory loss issues and the last thing we want in someone to get impatient with her.

I think they could do a better job with communication between the staff members. It seems that the day shift doesn't always provide the same level of care for the residents as the afternoon shift. And vice versa. We've gone through different levels of care in the last 6 months and it's not usually an easy transition. I feel that I must advocate for my Mom on a daily basis.

They are a very helpful staff. All are hands on. Great communication. Fun activities. When I 1st walked in the door I felt like I was being hugged. Such a comforting feeling. Mother loves the food, activities, residents and staff. It has been a great experience so far!

The main contact you have is with the marketing director but it would be helpful to talk with the main director and medical director as well. They put on the bells and whistles to get you in the door and then the service level drops a little once you're in. Not bad but noticeable.

Resident was not accepted back to the facility after behavior became impaired and unmanageable due to alcohol (occurring twice). I was inadequately updated by Auburn Meadows after he ended up in ER at Auburn Hospital other than being told that an assessment for memory care would occur at 11:00 am Thursday over a week ago. That assessment did not happen. I never heard from Auburn Meadows again. Eventually the hospital informed me that he would not be accepted back to Auburn Meadows and that an assessment was never done. I was never directly informed of his final status by Auburn Meadows but was by the hospital. Thanks

The food and coffee was always served cold. Family was told the medications of member would be used before bubble meds where ordered. They did not use more than 2 doses before ordering bubble packs which cost the family an additional [ fee removed] vs using up the 3 months supply of meds. My grandma was only there 2.5 weeks before she recovered enough to come home. I asked staff why meds where ordered before using even a week's worth they had no answer. Also my grandma always had to ask for her meds they serve that at the dinning room even if the person had no interest for dinning there for breakfast vs in her room from her little half kitchen

Direct care staff were wonderful, management very poor. When my mother was there, the facility had very poor management who were not the least interested in returning my calls or meeting with me. Shortly before my mother passed away, the manager was relieved of their duties and a temporary person was brought in from the home office. My mother only lived a few more weeks after this transition so I can't speak to any issues regarding improvements in that area. People considering the facility should really investigate the management situation, particularly the longevity.

There is high turnover with the CNAs, but that seems common at all of these facilities. The staff is friendly and responsive. The housekeeping has been pretty good--a little inconsistent sometimes. The communication with the family is okay. They are responsive but do not initiate much communication. I think they are understaffed, so the admin folks are very busy. The move in process was okay. It took a few months for things to fall into a good rhythm and routine, but that was kind of to be expected--transfers of care can be difficult. My mom enjoys the meals. They are working to plan more activities for the residents. Overall, it's been fine. Not outstanding, but I feel that my mom is safe and being taken care of pretty well. I would recommend the facility. They prioritize resident safety of all and that's really the most important thing.
