Ask specific questions about what to bring and what NOT to bring based on the loved ones condition. NB: I am specifically answering about the Memory Care area of Desert View. What I really liked about the facility was: The friendliness, the outdoor garden area with grass, the activities for assisted living, spacious hallways, the "mail room" with a TV, books and puzzles and the location.

Barber Station is a lovely new clean facility. They are still learning how to be a memory care facility. I appreciated the family style dining. I purposely visited during this time so I could meet the other residents and see how the staff cared for them. The direct care staff did great, and I felt they cared about and kept safe, clean and with dignity, both my dad and the other residents. They use behavioral techniques, not over medicating and the residents are mostly calm and content. [name removed], the recreational therapist was amazing. And super receptive to suggestions and ideas. There were issues: Mostly with leadership. Please note: I am a seasoned medical social worker, not just a daughter. My dad entered Barber on Hospice care so he also had their staff and a private caregiver paid by me. Lots of eyes and involvement, they would concur with my comments. 1. No intake packet, admission checklist, and super rough admission due to their lack of organization The day I left my dad there was among the worst. Ever. For both of us. 2. We were promised things like better food choices (my dad's most frequent complaint) that were not delivered. I refused to eat the meals, high in starch, low in veggies and nutrition. I went as high up as the CEO to request my dad never be feed fish, he hated fish, particularly Tilapia was awful to him. I feel I was judged by my demand to feed my dad and the residents better quality food. The day my dad died, the CEO and the Marketing Director refused to look me in the eye, while the other staff, nurse, [name removed], [name removed] etc were very supportive. There were issues with his dying process. He fell, and was ignored, snowed, not moved or changed until I got mad. Horizon Hospice staff stepped in and he did get care and a peaceful death.

What has made Desert View Senior Living such a good experience so far is definitely the friendliness of the staff. Based on the experience we have had so far, we have already recommended this community to others, and will continue to do so.

My mother seems to be doing better there. With the care team she says some are great and others are just "ok". She would maybe like to see the menus changed up a bit or offer seasonality.

Everyone is friendly and my mom's move in was smooth. I have noticed that several staff members have quit since January, but the new members are very helpful and approachable. The facility provides housekeeping services weekly and has done an excellent job. My mom has enjoyed most meals. There was an issue with cooking meals at the assisted living facility and bringing to independent living, but that issue has been resolved. I would currently recommend the facility to others. My mom is happy and enjoying the scheduled activities.

We were welcomed with open arms. Great food, calm atmosphere, very quiet, comfy and friendly. So glad we found something that is cozy and well within our budget. So far we love it. The only thing is it could use a little more security.

Make sure the information you receive is accurate. Be sure there is a remedy if their roommate is not compatible. If there are maintenance issues which need to be addressed, get an estimated date that the issue will be fixed in writing. Activities -- too much bingo. Too often the times on the schedule would be changed and many of us would get to the activity just as it was ending. The musicians they had in were really great. Thought of one other neg. They advertise free rides to medical appointments. But the rides are only on 2 or 3 days per week and the last appointment they will take you to is at 130.

It's a nice place for my parents. They had an adequate apartment that met their needs.

It's a small facility. My dad is happy there We chose this facility mainly due to the fact that It felt comfortable and warm.

We picked this community for the location (near family) and price.

Nobody wants to be in an assisted-living home, giving up some of their freedom, but I realize that I need to be here to be safe and the caregivers have been very nice. They always greet you with a smile and act like they really care about you the activities, Director keeps you busy and is there to help you With your needs and goes overboard trying to make everybody happy I receptionist is exceptional takes care of our Mail and many other functions she provides for us. The maintenance Director is right there with any problems you might have. I am very glad my daughters found this place for me and they toured quite a few and picked this one.

The experience was great. Everyone seemed caring and kind. I would highly recommend Barber Station. It was a great value and we felt really safe and my mom was very content there.

They are friendly but sometimes they want you to change things such as insurance and healthcare with what they want. Lots of workers but sometimes can't get the help you need I would recommend Desert View Senior Living to others.

We chose this facility because of the cost and location. I do Wish there were more healthy food choices. I would most likely recommend to others.

Capitol Hill was meant to be my home and the staff had me so excited to be a part of the friendly community. The staff mix their professional and personalities to ensure this is a place where at certain one is safe and comfortable as well as friends. The kitchen staff are fabulous and creative, head by a top chef.

My experience here at Capitol Hill has been a very pleasant one. The staff is always accommodating and I enjoy the activities. A very nice place for us aging moms.

I am living independently here with no nursing care or other services and I control and administer my own meds. I think the food is generally good, evenings sometimes fall short in terms of quality and services. Staff is generally friendly and helpful.

First impressions are everything!!!The lady who took me on the virtual tour was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. It was the closest to where their daughter lives. it has a wonderful exercise room for PT for my love done. It just looked beautiful and in the avenues where there are so many trees and close to downtown. The activities looked so fun and so many! [name removed] was the intake person and was there to greet us and had lunch provided for everyone who moved them in. They went the extra mile.

A great place for mom. They take care of her. Always helpful staff. Always good to visit and see she is doing well. She is able to have her doc appointments there instead of having to take her out where she gets anxiety.
