They were very disorganized. They’ve lost directors and nurses. I really like the feel of the facility. I loved it when I walked in. Some of the nurses’ level of communication is very poor. It’s very clean and friendly. She’s clean. She’s well fed. There were a lot of transition issues. It’s getting better. They’ve always been wonderful, but they could be more organ

The surroundings are very nice. It appears to me they do not take good care of the elderly patients. Short staffing is a problem. My mother is 101 years old and soon will be 102. She is incontinent--wears a diaper however I have been with mom approximate 2 hours or more and not one staff member checks on her if she needs to go the bathroom. She's feisty, however they need to take her to the bathroom more often. We pay enough for her care and for what they say they will do--so I expect it. I pay, however, I do not feel they follow their own care plan of what they say they will provide. There are not enough staff for these delicate patients. Where are the Registered Nurses? It's a money making machine--limited care for patients and not well staffed. Frightening to think we could be placed in one of these so called Assistant Living programs.

We had our loved one here briefly and our experience was not a good one. We had numerous issues with the medication management service, and ended up moving our loved one to a different facility after a short time.

smelled of vomit and urine throughout; despite having an appt with the director, I ended up only touring with the receptionist who couldn't answer most of my questions. Activities director position was vacant, so all the residents were simply in their rooms doing nothing.

The person welcoming us was very nice, she would get a five but the rest of the place, if I'm being generous, is a two. It didn't have the separate apartment, and that wasn't going to work for us. We wanted my aunt to have her own room, and there was none of that. It seemed more like a nursing home. There were all these people in wheelchairs sitting at the front of the facility, and that is not a good first impression. It was old.

It was just depressing and smelled like urine. I was not very impressed, even though I had a girlfriend recommend me there.

The staff to patient ratio was very low. They sold it really well but my mom fell off the bed a couple times and it took them a while to get to her. She did not do well in there. We pulled her out and then three weeks after we pulled her out she passed away. She needed help feeding herself but my dad went to make sure she got fed. They raised the rent without telling us and she wasn't getting the care she needed. I was basically paying for room and board. She didn't participate in the activities. I think I didn't ask the right questions when I toured and it turned out to be the wrong place for her.

Older Facility. We walked in an saw no personnel for 6-7 minutes by the front desk. Yet there were numerous guest milling around. Seems rather dangerous. We finally went to look for someone.

Post Visit - Not so good location - building very tired and nothing 'walkable' - lots of freeway noise

The cleanliness was the issue. They would leave my mother's urine soaked sheet on her bed. The ratio of caregivers to residents was not appropriate.

The supervision was the issue. The administrator/manager was never there. The caregiver ratios were not what I thought were appropriate. The caregivers would ask families to do things that they were supposed to do supervise a group.

This place was depressing to see.

They are just a horrible community on so many levels. It is a bigger community who is a racket. They charge double the price that other comparable communities do. They charge a lot of money and hire at minimum wage. The people are barely trained and the nurses that were here when we were are just idiots. There are too many residents for the amount of staff that they have. The manager is never available and they really only want to cover their own behind.

My mother was living here until she passed away four years ago. The prices were higher and the services were very poor. The food was horrible no matter how much I complained. It was just bad. I couldn't find anywhere else for her so that is where she had to be.

I flew out from New Jersey in April to see my mom who was living at Emeritus in Hemet. I came everyday for five days and spent the entire day into the evening with my mother. The first thing I noticed was how badly she had declined since the last time I had seen her in her home in August. She had been living at Emeritus since December and it appeared that she had become nearly completely bedridden in the short span of time that she was there. There were 14 or so rooms in my mom’s cottage and two staff members for each shift…obviously a gross shortage of help. I noticed that most of the staff’s time was spent around the meals. They didn’t cook the meals but there was a lot of preparation and cleanup in the cafeteria area. I borrowed a wheelchair so I could get my mom out of bed for awhile and stroll her around outside. She told me it was the first time that she had seen the outside of the facility. She had never been taken out of her room except for when she was taken to the hospital after a fall. She was afraid to go to the bathroom on her own since she had fallen. Instead of a staff member coming in to help her get to the bathroom they would just put a diaper on her. One staff member in particular was rather cavalier in her approach. She would whiz into the room and say, “It’s time to change your diaper” with absolutely no regard at all for my mom’s dignity. My mom had not brushed her teeth for several days before I got there and the staff made no effort to help her brush her teeth. Her toothbrush was nasty and there was no toothpaste. I went to the pharmacy and bought her a new toothbrush and toothpaste and set up a little pan and water so she could brush her teeth in bed. While I was there, other than meals and medicine, the staff seldom came to my mom’s room. I asked to have the room vacuumed and the bathroom cleaned while I was there, though that was supposed to be done on a regular basis. I also had to ask them to cut my mother’s food so she could eat it and to make sure that she had access to water at all times. I tried to talk to the staff as much as I could while I was there in an attempt to insure that my mother would get more attention in the future. The food is primarily canned and processed foods that I would never eat. The medical attention is nearly non-existent. The daily staff does not have medical training and I never saw a nurse or a doctor. My mother’s medicines had been terribly confused and misappropriated. I noticed the young man handing out the medicines one day and I asked him what he had given my mom. His response was “same as usual”. The staff members were nice to me, but I noticed a lack of compassion for the clients. These are not people that have been trained to care for elderly people. At the end of my five days, I was so saddened that all I could think about was getting my mom into a better living situation. I was shocked that a facility that charges anywhere from $2000 to $5000 a month would provide so little care. My sister moved my mom out of Emeritus a month later. I'm relieved that she is now in a much more caring environment.

They just had a change in ownership from Atria to Pacifica. It has been a rocky start for us with Pacifica. We'll see how things go moving forward. The food has gone downhill with that transition. It's almost like gas station food, things like hot dogs, chili, etc. And communication when an option that you ordered isn't available has been a problem. But my loved one says food-related issues have been getting better. There was a big billing kerfuffle with the change in ownership as well, but they seem to have that resolved for us now. Again, communication ahead of time would have been helpful and gone a long way. I would tell others don't set your expectations high. Also know that it's a special scenario where the staff are trying to meet the needs of various residents, all on top of Covid restrictions and challenges. Just be patient and bear in mind the stresses the staff are dealing with. The apartments themselves are fine. There's nothing particularly negative or positive to say about them. And I think the staff are doing the best they can.

My husband was there for only about 6 weeks before they discharged him for behavioral issues. Granted, he was acting out, which is why I had to place him in a memory care facility In the first place. His behavior was fairly common with people with Alzheimer’s. I feel that there is a very large turnover in the staff. They are not trained well for their job. When I visited my husband, it was to work. I got him to shower, cleaned his room, and very dirty bathroom, and put the foul smelling laundry and trash into the hallway. The smell in his room was terrible. The workers were friendly, and I liked them, but they were just not up to the job, in my opinion. The director was not at all involved with the residents and I feel like he does not have the heart for these people at all. These things became very evident when I placed him in a new facility. He is thriving there and I can now just visit and enjoy holding my husbands hand.

The Meridian is a fine place, the help is friendly and cooperative "unless" you need something such as AC repairs or regular weekly apartment cleaning, which is included with rent. The facility comes at a high cost & "out-of-control" annual rate increases of 4%+ and this year 5%+ pushing the monthly rate past $4,000. This is along way from the "falsely advertised" tizzer rate of "2,900."
