Pacifica Senior Living

We chose Pacifica at the time because a year ago it was great, they treated us wonderfully when we walked, it was clean and did not smell, it was just perfect. It was great in the beginning when we put them in here but then it started declining. I think the staff should be more attentive to the families when they come to visit. I also think that it would be helpful if they write down each residents needs when they move in so the transition can be easier on them. She seemed happy with the food but she said the portion sizes were too small. I would recommend them to others looking.

It's an older community but they seem to be doing a decent job with maintenance and the look of the inside. Communication between the staff and our family is ok. Communication can sometimes be difficult to understand. They are not really following the covid protocols and I have seen people with masks. I would recommend this community if you are able to stay on top of things and set a level of expectation.

Communication was pretty good between the staff and the family, they kept us up to date. We had some issues with the community giving the attention to my loved one we thought they would be able to get. I would not recommend this community to others

My husband and I toured 3 different facilities and we really liked Brighton Gardens of Tampa. It was a glowing tour and everything was great and people were very friendly. After she got here, we were very disappointed. It was not the same as when they were trying to get us to come there. She did need a lot of help and we just did not see that when we were up there for visits. Overall, due to our experience, we would not recommend them to other families looking.

Due to the covid restrictions the activities were pretty much put to a stop, one thing we do wish the community would of done was give us a call or send a form of sypathy to our family when our loved one passed away.

The community is very good at communication and we receive emails from the director with covid updates and newsletters. My brother likes the food a lot. I would definitely recommend this community to others

I chose Avila because it is in a good location so I could walk to things. The apartment sizes here vary, I have a studio with a bathroom and kitchenette. In my opinion, the food is not very good. Some things are ok, but I have only eaten 1 really good meal from the time I have been here. They serve a lot of chicken so there is not a lot of variety. Every week the facility does do a happy hour and they have basic activities such as bingo and puzzles. I would question who runs this place, it is run by a corporation in San Diego and no one can make any changes unless it goes through them. Overall, I would recommend.

The community had recently changed administrators. The new administrator was good at working with us in resolving a situation. There also was a new finical administrator.

We think when it comes to the medical side of things, there is some inconsistency.

If you're loved one is aggressive I wouldn't recommend this community

At first it seemed really good, but the communication between the community and our family was not good at all. We do know the friendliness of the staff was good. However at the moment we do not think we would recommend this community.

The community wasn't a fit for us. So it depends on what you are looking for. The room sizes were small but did have a bathroom. She did not complain about the food I think they liked it. I would not recommend this community.

This community is very appealing, and the location was good for our loved one. He was still close to his friends which is the main reason we chose this community. It is pretty good value. We have eaten there a few times and the food is less that satisfactory. He has high blood pressure, which the food as quite a bit of salt in it. They could be more accommodating to each residents. The rooms are satisfactory, however they have minimal activities, for the residents to participate in. The one issue we have is that the administrative staff are less responsive to residents but more responsive to the families of the residents.

The rooms at this community appears to be very nice, and at first we were told certain things that were going to be happening but those things did not end up not happening. Our loved one was supposed to receive a specific type of care, but we later found out she was actually receiving a totally different type of care. There would also be times that no care takers were present. The food at Wyndham Lakes is just okay, a lot of the time it was served cold.

Some of the activities they provided for the residents prior to COVID were bingo all the time, they constantly had events like craft shows, guest speakers, fitness instructors as well as a salon. Since COVID things are quite different they have reduced the interaction between the residents. The food there consists of a lot of fried food, we wish they had more salads and a better selection of fruits and vegetables to pick from. This community is very welcoming, the layout works out very well. One thing that really stood out to us was at the time the pricing was a little better then the other communities we looked at.

Sometimes we go into my parent's room and it clearly hasn't been cleaned. The sink is often dirty and bathroom is unkempt. The staff at Pacifica is often not very agreeable. They are frequently understaffed and the care givers often seem overwhelmed. As a result of this, they aren't able to pay adequate attention to the residents, who are usually put in chairs and left alone. We also do not feel like the community is worth the price. The community is quite expensive and we do not feel the level of care is where it needs to be. When we signed up with the community they had an activity director, who no longer works there, and as a result, there is nothing for the residents to do.

[Name removed] says the food needs work. The activities were fun and the caregiving is very good.

In general, the management is helpful. Our dining experience has changed. The quality of our food has changed, as well as adhering to senior's diet needs. Too many starches, etc. I assume it is due to budget constraints. The grade of meat, fish, and fowl is lower in quality. Disappointing. Also, our 5-6% increase in our rent was not appreciated.
