Pacifica Senior Living

I'm overall really pleased with how my dad is doing there. He's doing better there than he was at home. They are just so caring and loving towards all of the residents. They want to do what they can to make their residents' lives as good as possible and I really appreciate that. I think they're doing really well. My dad really likes to go outside and at Pacifica he can go outside whenever he wants. They have yards, trees, grass, and porches so he can walk around outside while still being within the secured area. I'm very happy with them.

I moved my mother to Pacifica one month ago. She is 100 years old with psychotic dementia. It was difficult to find a god fit for her that we could also afford. Pacifica if very affordable and provides a wide range of memory and dementia care. I am probably very hard to please as I spent many years working in this business/industry and I am very devoted to my mother. So I realize very sadly that no place is perfect but I am very involved and work very hard to see that her needs are met as well as possible. The staff at Pacifica is very friendly and loving and I have a good working relationship with them and the changes I have seen in my mother since she moved here are remarkable to say the least. She is much more lucid and smiling and responsive than she has been for a long time and I attribute this to a wonderful activity program and staff and also all other staff and caregivers who stop and talk to residents and interact cheerfully and pleasantly with them at all times.

I was impressed still checking this out.

It's very clean. My dad was only there for a week on respite care. He was on the highest level of care is it was very good.

Overall it's pretty good. They have good meals and good, friendly staff people. The people seem very happy there. They do bingo, social hours, they have a few outings, and they have special speaker that come in. My dad gets assistance with bathing, dressing, and toiletry needs and all the care is pretty good.

Arbors was good. We liked it but they were just a little pricey. They had a lot of activities and services. They kept everybody busy all the time. They had news discussions, dancing, parties, exercise, so much going on all the time. The food was okay.

It costs more for us because my father-in-law is an insulin dependent diabetic. The care is very good. I think they're a really nice place and they've got a lot of good staff member there. The only issue we've run into is some staff turnover, but that happens everywhere.

They were a finalist when I was looking for a place for my aunt but at that time (3 years ago) they were not able to give insulin injections. When the time came that she needed them I didn't want to have to move her. I liked the fact that it was a little smaller and had a little more homelike atmosphere. I like the fact that each room had its own little balcony/access to the outdoors. Two main things that made it go our of contention as that they were not able to give insulin injections and that they apartments and room were really small. I did not want my aunt to have to downsize so rapidly. I thought that would be too difficult for her.

He lives there but he doesn't get any medical services or anything. He's only had one problem with his refrigerator. I'm not sure if that's been resolved yet. He's not participating in the activities because he's still working. He's only there for respite care because he wants meals and clean sheets. I haven't heard any complaints other than sometimes there's no parking. Basically, everything is fine.

It's a beautiful place but out of our price range. My dad wasn't real excited about it when he saw it. It's right in the downtown section of San Luis Obispo. You can pretty much walk everywhere you want to go. I'd say about 90% of our reason or not going there was the cost.

It's affordable. That's one of things we like most about it and besides that it's the best value for the money that we found that's out there. Everyone can always improve but I can't think of anything in particular that they should work on. It's good.

The facility is very nice and I like how it's set back from the road and has nice outdoor grounds to walk around and hang out in. I like what Emeritus has to offer both in the assisted living section and in the memory care facility. Lucia was nice and very very helpful and pointed out that I could have B sign up for Emeritus up in Eugene OR and then after the baby is born we could transfer her down to Emeritus in Northridge.

Things are going along pretty well there. She's going through her own challenges getting used to a new place and that takes it's toll but overall we're pretty happy with the place. We do have some issues with the food in that some of the things have salt. The chef doesn't add salt to things but some of the prepared food that they use to make things like sauces do have salt and that tends to increase the salt level. We're talking with them about that and they're being pretty cooperative. Everybody's really nice. She's very well cared for. The activities are really nice. She's getting a lot of encouragement to take part in things.

There was an elevator involved and my friend doesn't' like those. It was very nice but the room he would have has would have been too far from the dining room for him.

We're in the process of packing up to move but we won't be able to move until the middle of November. We needed more of an independent living situation where we have a villa and a garage, not too much different from our home here I guess, maybe a little smaller. That was mostly what we liked, that it's not an apartment, everything else was apartment type and when my wife saw this that was it, we stopped looking.

This place wouldn't have been right for my sister-in-law. I think that aesthetically it wasn't right. I had the feeling people were much more in the hallways and interacting a lot and she kind of likes to be left alone so I didn't think that was the right environment for her.

I looked at this place but it was too far from home. I was close but not close enough to where I could run up on the way back from home and also run errands and things. I seemed like a very nice place. It was good but it's a matter of what you're looking for and I needed something closer.

My parents were there and that was good for a period of time and then when my father's dementia got worse. The problem was not so much the caregiving but the difficulty of the situation. The cleanliness was very good. There were activities available and dementia ones. My father didn't participate but they brought them to musical events with in the larger community. They had partitioned off the dementia care but they would try to bring them in for any activities in the community. They were very inclusive that way.

Liked the Villas. Young woman that we dealt with was very knowledgable and very helpful.

It was more expensive than the other one we were looking at. I certainly liked the rooms here better. They looked really good but we simply had to go with the cheaper one.
