Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices

We had chosen otterbein at first and well they are hands down the worst place I would take my parent as they made promises and then did a bait and switch with my mom

My mom was taken in for rehab. She went in walking but falling and came out in a wheel chair. The two showers a week were done on day 8 and day 15 at 9:30 pm. Her therapy was very inconsistent and doctor’s orders were not implemented. The long wait for help to go to the bathroom has now put her in depends. Shortage of staff does not excuse her lack of care.

My mother was in nursing for a month. Not enough help. Was not pleased at all with her care. For a retirement facility of this stature, nursing was the worst. Brought her home. Would rather pay for good care instead of payout money for awful care.

BED BUGS........ the staff confirmed it was our room, but didn't come treat it for three days... They will let you go with sponge bathes for weeks. Hygiene is not a priority here.

We visited this community while looking into care options for a loved one, and it was an absolutely awful experience, I would not recommend them to anyone based on how we were treated. The administrative staff were unfriendly and unprofessional.

Horrible place.....bad food...overall not a place for anyone who has their faculties. My parent went there and we did not read the fine print of the contract.. she moved in and disliked it and per the contract, moved out. Not only did she pay a high rent, she was penalized and lost a huge some of money from her buy in! Now 5 months later, her money was finally returned so glad she gotout. It I a depressing place and is poorly maintained as well. The staff has a dont give a darn attitude. This is not a active retirement community...this is an old folks home/nursing home.

My parent was in Trellis Gardens for two and a half years. They couldn't even take a urine sample correctly and because of it she died from sepsis. The caregivers were supportive and nice but overworked and underpaid. We were told when we were putting them in their that they would be taken care of and that was a lie. Looks great from the outside but[Removed] on the inside for anybody that doesn't have dementia. Think two or three times before putting your parent in here

There is a aid on nights on Newcomers Hall that is very round and heavy ([Removed]) is her name I think, She talks to the residents like [Removed], I was in there friday night 4-07-17 and she was screaming at a resident awful. She has been reported a number of times and they just don't care. Half of the time my mother n law never had an aid. You are better off putting your family some where else.
