Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices

I can not say enough about Otterbein Retirement Living Community. Plenty of trips and activities. My parents are not quite ready to move yet, but I will definitely consider this community when the time comes. If I were looking for this kind of home for me I would definitely move here.

Very impressed with patio homes and ranch houses. Utilities (except phone and internet) included. Location is the only downside. There is another blind individual living at Otterbein, so the staff have already solved many of the issues my husband would have adjusting to the campus.

A possibility. Being A not -for-profit, it's close to where I want to be.

I've never been to another rehabilitation CNTR (I am now 71) so I was surprised that : 1. My entire stay was paid for 100% by Medicare. VGV is very affordable. The staff is very professional and effective. 2. I retired from a construction company. I used to help build banks, schools, stores, and... senior care facilities - but nothing quite this organized or luxurious. This place is huge and extremely well built. Thank you.

My mother has been at KAG for 2 1/2 years and is now transitioning to the assisted living level. She has had a great experience. They really take good care of you there. I hope to go there myself when I get that age. I can't imagine any place better. What's unique about Kendal is the quality, intellectual programming that they have. They cater to a crowd that can appreciate those kinds of activities and cultural events. Sure they have cards and game activities too, but there's so much more than the kinds of bingo-trivia-movie night activities that most senior living places have. There's a hefty down payment to get in, but there are many options including one that guarantees 90% return to one's estate at death, so don't let the sticker shock scare you. Take a tour and talk to them.

Otterbein is a really nice community and the staff has been great. The staff has really just been exemplary. A key factor when choosing Otterbein was the location, it is convenient located for our family so that really made a difference. The quality and amenities they offer are also very good. We are pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone.

We moved to Otterbein last summer and are enjoying our new home here. What really stands out is how nice people are, staff takes time and listens to what you have to say, activities to participate in.

The first thing is OT/PT promptly did my assessment and it started right away. They come in daily and worked with me for 40 minutes or more. While sometimes the aides take awhile to respond to call light it’s understandable because of the patient ratio. Quiet environment here compared to other nursing home I was in. Bright and sunny. Rooms are very nice. Bathroom is huge. Easy to maneuver if you’re in a wheelchair or walker. Food is okay, you can choose options if you don’t want the regular menu. Overall it was safe, clean and staff are nice. Great PT/OT.

Overall, the staff is caring and supportive. Mom says the food is mediocre and lacks seasoning. The facility is bright and clean, and the decor in the common areas is up-to-date. The grounds are beautiful and offer several outdoor paths and sitting areas. The PT facility is top-notch, and Mom enjoys going to the "gym" for her PT sessions. My siblings and I appreciate reassurance that Mom is safe and has help when needed.

We love that there is so much to do at Otterbein Lebanon SeniorLife Community. The dining experience is really not good. However, they are short staffed which causes inconsistent quality of food, run out of foods offered.

Mostly the activity level. I am sure it is location specific, but her floor of independent living apartments is very social. But the Otterbein big activities are numerous and very well done. Mom is on a meal plan for dinners. The dining room is not very nice by competition's standards, but a "refresh" is coming early next year. Staffing the dining room is a big issue. My moms personality is very social and she took right to this style of living. She wishes she had done it sooner.

The friendliness of the staff really stood out to our family, and based on our experience so far with Otterbein Pemberville we would recommend this community to other families

I feel that my parent is safe here. The community itself is old and needs some updates. However, I feel that she is being taken care of and I have peace of mind that she is there. They have a lot of activities however, my loved one is more private and with her hearing disability she does not do well in groups.

Overall I am pleased with this community. The community is neat and clean and the staff is very friendly. The food is really good and they have started backup activities for the residence. I would highly recommend this community to others.

We really liked the different levels of activities that were available as well as the accessibility of various levels of services. This seemed to be a very close knit community. The rooms they offer for the residents are extremely nice, well thought out and it is not to much and not to small.

Our move in was not without problems. Our storage area was filled with bins we have no idea who they belonged to. However we were allowed to move them to another area so that we could use ours. Our guest room (where we stayed the first night) smelled very strongly of "dog". The previous guests evidently had a pet there and the cleaning people did not clean properly. It took forever to get someone to respond to our issues. 1. Additional shelves for storage, 2. light bulbs that were burnt out. Since we've been here almost three months now, things have smoothed out and we have resolved all of our issues.

Very nice place. Lots of activity. Residents were very active playing cards and dressed nicely, laughing and enjoying each other's company.

We toured a few different communities and this one gave us the best feeling of being in a community versus being in an institution. My mom loves living here she is making friends and doing activities. She is liking the food I haven't heard her complain about anything. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We would recommend this community.

My sister toured this facility and was very happy with everything. The cost is fair and she really liked the information that she received.

The rehabilitation staff is amazing! The nursing staff is also wonderful. Food is good. Only complaint I have is none.great place for rehabilitation. The apartment side are to pricey for us.
