The staff are very attentive and nice and very cordial. My wife is receiving great care and they contact me with any information when needed. They are very efficient and friendly and competent. They do a lot for the residents in terms of activities. There is just a lot of good things going on. They have activities like bingo, painting pots, jigsaw puzzle and a live musician that came in.

The establishment is super comfortable and welcoming. They are pretty responsive when a family member needs a meeting to go over any concerns. The staff all know my loved one by first name. They take time to get to know the family as well as the resident. It is never an easy choice to place your loved one but this place has done a 180 degree turn with my loved one. She has a great support system here and she is thriving.

My mother [name removed] has gown stronger physically over the six month she has been at Battle Creek and is now also more alert and communicative with her family. The consistent positive attitudes of energies demonstrated by the BC staff, from the front door to the neighborhood event-live staff-have all contributed to her (and our) positive experiences at Battle Creek.

All Expectations Exceeded.

My experience with the staff at The Woodlake has exceeded all my expectations. I am the only living relative to my cousin who suffers from dementia. I worked with a lot of people looking for a place that I would feel confident that my cousin would be well cared for. I worried about everything since I live 3000 miles away. I wanted to make sure she was in a clean, safe, loving environment. My friends go to visit my cousin and they also tell me how fortunate I was to discover The Woodlake on my search. I am sure from my nightly telephone chats my cousin thinks she’s living in a 5 star hotel. And that’s okay with me. Every staff person I have talked to has been polite and professional. I always feel they are doing the “right” thing and that my cousin is not being treated Ike an afterthought. This is a huge relief for me. I highly recommend The Woodlake.

A good community

The staff members are very interactive with the residents every time we come to visit. Instead of calling it the memory care, they call it the opal room so the memory care isn't s separated from the other parts of the facility. They do a great job integrating the memory care residents with the assisted living residents and they have a big calendar showing all the different activities going on each month. They are very inventive when it comes to new activities. The Woodlake is the best thing that could happen to our family, it has been such a positive experience.

Spectacular Care

We moved my father from another memory care facility to Shadow Mountain this past spring. The staff and facilities are the best I have ever encountered!! The director cares for each resident as though they are his family. Caregivers are kind and attentive, covering every detail. Each time I visited, my father was well dressed, clean and shaven. His room was always sparkling clean and staff took time to know all of our family members. Everything they do at Shadow Mountain is geared towards safety and dignity for their residents. Activities are varied and fun. Food is delicious and served with linen napkins . My father was happy there until his final day on earth. When he passed, the staff was so supportive to us. We were given time to grieve before collecting his belongings and the employees all helped organize his items for us. They even sent us an Edible Arrangement as a condolence gift. If you need a memory care facility for your loved one…PLEASE look at this place!!

Our Tour Experience

We toured at The Woodlake a couple of different times, and we thought it was very nice. It was one of our top choices when we were still focusing on assisted living. We thought they had a good program, and the facility was very nice, bright, and clean. We were impressed with the staff. They were very nice, and very accommodating. We liked that they had plenty of activities. And they also had a nice perk we didn't see at other places - they had a guest room available for rent for your out-of-town/overnight visitors, sort of like a hotel. We ended up choosing another facility that had a concierge doctor service and was closer to us, but we really liked The Woodlake.

The Woodlake is a beautiful facility. Easy drive from my home in West Sacramento. Pros: Both Assisted Living and Memory Care units felt very homey. Staff look happy - not stressed. Residents looked comfortable and content. My tour was at 1:30, so after lunch. I was pleased to see more activity than at other facilities I have toured….a good number of residents in the common areas. Many more were reportedly enjoying the movie. The ‘apartments’ are spacious and the shared bathroom is well-appointed. If in doubt about a single or double/shared apartment, the configuration of the shared apartment at The Woodlake is probably the best of two worlds because each suite has a bedroom with a shared bath in-between. Cons: I am a bit concerned about the food. I asked to see the lunch menu and it looked like mostly sandwiches. My mom is not a sandwich fan and although she does not eat much, good food is important to her. Overall I think this is a stellar facility with great attention to detail and an ‘OPAL’ program which clearly has been carefully developed and implemented to maximize the potential for a positive resident experience. I liked the room location they currently had available for my mom, which was based on a preliminary assessment of her needs. Pricing is competitive. The Woodlake is at the top of my list for now. Thank you to [name removed] and A Place For Mom.

My review of The Woodlake

We did an in person tour and the community was very nice. We were treated very well, and the location is very close to where we live. It was more expensive then what we were looking for but the set up was very nice. They have a shared bathroom, but you would have your own private bedroom.

The best of the best

Our experience at this community was incredible, we can only give them the most highest remarks. They were incredibly loving, there were nurses and CNA's available at all times. They were always in our loved ones room, and they did anything and everything we needed especially during the covid outbreak. When our loved one had to go onto hospice care, they assigned her to a room where i could come visit and sit with her. They were so careful about not bringing covid into the community, there was just so much love and care. I encourage everyone to go to this community.

Simply the best!

I would like to thank the wonderful team at Battle Creek memory care of south Salem for always going above and beyond when it came to my fathers care. My dad had a dementia diagnosis and when he was in his own home, he spent so much time just sitting around confused, angry, and was no longer caring for himself. After only 4 days with Battle Creek of Salem, he had a smile on his face and had already made several friends that he was so excited to tell us about. I had not seen this side of my dad for a really long time and I am forever thankful for the beautiful memories I now have of him in his last months. Also, during such a hard time this last year with covid, I was unable to be at my dads side due to covid restrictions, but with the caring staff updating me and allowing myself and my family to FaceTime with dad, we got to feel as though we were there with him and it made us all feel so good to always see his beautiful big smile. I would like to acknowledge and give a special thank you to the executive director of this amazing memory care, Todd Whitehead, for putting together such an amazing team of employees, for providing such a caring place with such a high service of care and for truly supporting a higher quality of life. You are certainly by far the best memory care and best staff from the front desk employees, to the healthcare team, to the care staff, to the kitchen staff, and all of management you are all amazing!! Thank you very much from myself and my entire family for caring for my dad and treating him with the utmost love and respect.

SPRINGS OF VERNON HILLS - EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL

My sister was transferred to the Springs of Vernon Hills in [date removed], and from the very beginning , the staff, nurses, and administrators all greeted her with open arms, and with an extremely caring attitude. From the initial consultation, where we were educated and explained all of the protocols, to the day to day service and attention, my sister was treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Everyone we encountered, including the maintenance was approachable and happy to assist in any of our needs . On top of that, the food and amenities were outstanding ! My review of Battle Creek Memory Care

I would tell others that the layout of the "neighborhoods" is an ideal arrangement for memory care residents. They have groups of about 20 residents that have common spaces. It facilitates intimacy, good staff control and observation, and allows a socialization that I think does not exist in other apartment like facilities. They have spaces that allow 2 residents to be together in a same room, so for a husband and wife it is like a mini apartment. From a health care standpoint they have excellent nursing and staff care who are very engaged in the residents and their well being.

Springs is the place

My wife stayed here for 9 months. During that time, I marveled at the quality of care that she received. First, the facility itself: It is clean, well-lit, wide hallways, comfortable rooms, well-maintained, and the food is good. There are places in the building where we could go for privacy, play music on their many DVD players, and sometimes merely watch the passing parade of people and vehicles. The enclosed garden was a welcome oasis of calm in the warm months. Most important: the staff. They were caring, well-versed in handling the difficulties of those with memory issues, informative, welcoming, and going above and beyond. It was quite a relief knowing that she was in good hands. I would recommend Springs of Vernon Hills for a loved one of yours that is dealing with dementia.
