The recreation department is non existent for a majority of residents, memory impaired wonders around asking for help to get out. No music no art no nothing! One day there was music in the main room and no one from recreation came to take anyone. The cleaning lady wheeled out a couple of people well after it started. Thank you to her. It's a crying shame, mentally to all those trapped in their and the poor aids who could use some mental health from these poor souls.

When searching for assisted-living one must decide what their needs are. This facility meets our needs very well. We were not looking for trips abroad or nightclubs in the facility or a swimming pool. Our needs are met at a 4 of possible 5.

Gave you that typical nursing home feel. Not for those needing independent living, or those early stage assisted living adults in my opinion. This seems to be a very caring place but very dark. It definitely could use some fresh updated painting. The dark doors and trim could use some brightening to help give visitors a different feel. The garden areas are wonderful. Staff seemed genuinely caring and love their job. [Name removed] was amazing and kind.

Good only if your relative can care for themself. Father had stroke, uti, went to hospital and rehab. Talked to director because of his condition. Was assured they went to 4 levels of care and then hospice. Paid to hold his room. He returned over month later, at level 2 care. Numerous occasions found him in room, door closed, no lights, t.v, not even fluids beside him. Room very hot, he would try to take off clothes. Returned to hospital, : uti, dehydration. Got call from head medical, he could not return to morningside. They were not qualified to care for him. After cat scan, discovered he had another stroke morningside failed to recognize. When we moved him, several personal items were gone from his room. Director never contacted me. Some employees were great, others quite unpleasant when dealing with them. They need to know their limitations

Tour Guide Wasn't There

I had a decent tour of this community. The community looked nice, everything appeared to be well maintained. The staff I met was kind, and friendly. My issue was I when I arrived for my tour, the lady that was supposed to give the tour wasn't there. I feel that wasn't very professional, and wasn't the best first impression.

Things are going as okay

My uncle moved here recently. He is 97 with Alzheimer's disease. I think they are understaffed in professional caregivers. My uncle enjoys music. They have musical acts come in but sometimes he isn't able to watch them because they are performing on the other side of the community and he is in the memory care wing and no one can take him over there. The food at Habersham is terrific! I had lunch with him today and normally I don't like corned beef but it was pretty good.

Costs and style not a good fit for my Dad

We had to move my Dad from Florida to assisted living here in Georgia at very short notice as he went from living on his own to having severe physical issues and wheelchair bound in a matter of weeks. It was all new to us and went through "A Place for Mom" and Donna Sharpe was fantastic...she walked me through a lot of info, spent lots of time on the phone with my wife and myself and set my wife up with a bunch of tours while I tended to my Dad. My wife narrowed it to 3 places (touring close to a dozen) and when I got back, I toured them, one of those three being the Oaks at Post Road. I had put together a spreadsheet with questions to ask each and the staff at the Oaks did sit down with me and review after the tour. There were a few questions they didn't have the answers to which were ones that I would expect them to know. We ended up choosing the Villas at Canterfield over the Oaks at Post road after reviewing all of the data, some listed below. After going through the reception area, The Oaks at Post Road has a beautiful great room with fireplace with the dining area and a kitchen right off of it. That made it feel homey with a hint of a mountain vacation home feel which was really nice. They have some gardens and a nice area to sit outside, but the weather wasn't very cooperative when I was touring so didn't really get to enjoy it. In touring, I found that although it was only 5 years old, it appeared much older. The hallways reminded me of a dorm of an college...just seemed very drab. With the layout, it felt more like a medical facility or nursing home rather than a more permanent home for a loved one. The studio rooms were much smaller than similar facilities (308 Sqft verses 350 Sqft of other place we chose) They had a nice "living room" common area with couches, comfy chairs with a large TV, but that is where they show movies. I would think that it could get crowded there with not enough seating and poor viewing angles. The other place which we chose has a large "movie room" with rows of seating and a large projection screen. The Oaks has a PT room, but no option for anyone not taking PT through a doctor's care. Other places had at least a treadmill that could be used by all residents or could go use the PT room with low out of pocket costs just to get exercise. There were a few things that struck me when looking at the costs...their price was in line with others we narrowed it down to (slightly higher but similar) but there were many other costs that added up. Although it was listed as laundry being included, that was only towels and sheets and personal laundry is $55/month where the other place is included. Cable TV is $45/month where it is $20 at the place we chose ($10 more for DVR which is still cheaper than the Oaks). Phone is $55/month at the Oaks where it is $20 at the other place. The Oaks has a place for a small Fridge and Microwave but do not provide these and had no cabinets or counter space to store snacks, food, plates or silverware where the other place provides a true kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink and cabinets. And most important, the medication service is not included if on a higher level of care and is $260/month in addition to the higher level of care costs. (or $260 with no level of additional care) where the other place was included in all levels of additional care and $150 with no level of additional care. When looking for assisted living, make sure you ask all the questions....many places seem cheaper or similar costs when looking at the room price but the other costs drive it up. I can't really comment about care services although in talking to people and watching, everyone seemed well cared for. After evaluating against several other facilities, The Oaks at Post road just wasn't a good fit for my Dad and not a place he would be able to call home.

Friendly staff, but not a good fit for us

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for our loved one. I just didn't think this place would have been a good fit for us. The staff were all very friendly, and seemed to take good care of the residents, but the facility itself just felt worn down. Some areas had a noticeable odor and just looked a bit dirty. Another big issue for us was that there was no security or alarm on the front door, which would have been a problem since our loved one has wandering issues.

Very nice people here, but understaffed

We have had somewhat of a mixed experience with Marsh View Senior Living. The facility itself is gorgeous. It is well kept, clean, and always smells nice. They also have a great variety of activities to keep everyone busy and entertained. The aide staff is wonderful. The girls that do the hands-on help are all friendly, caring, and hard-working. The only problem is that there just aren't enough of them, they seem terribly understaffed, which effects the safety and the care the residents receive. They have call-button necklaces, and whenever my parents have had to use them the response time has been over 20 minutes. I've also had issues with their administrative staff. It is very hard to find out who to talk with about any specific issue, and when you do find the right person it can be very hard to get a hold of them.

Not the right place for us.

I came and toured here when I was looking around. I was not overly impressed. I didn't get the feeling when I walked in that this would be mom's home. I didn't think she would like it. When I walked in I got the feeling that I was interrupting them. I realize that they are busy, but I knew it wasn't the place for my mom. They weren't rude, they were nice, but I didn't get that we're glad you came feeling.

The staff was friendly and helpful. However this facility provides more care than we need at this time and the monthly rate is more than we were considering.

Assisted living is pretty nice, the memory care not as much so.

They need more staff, they just were not able to give the care and attention we wanted for him. It wasn't a good experience for us. We chose it because it seemed to be very nice. His room was not cleaned as much as I would like, the common areas are pretty. As far as the assisted living it's a nice place but the memory care side was not as good.

Very nice facility but looking at facilities that are closer to specific family members. This was a bit of a distance.

Not Good For Memory Care

There they actually divide the building into two sections. One with the regular propel who are mobile and the other is the memory care. He was on the memory care side and it was pretty much like a prison. They would let everybody just sit in their room all day long. That was very unsatisfactory. They didn't do anything with them.

Didn't like the location

I liked it but I didn't like the area of town it was in. It was in a neighborhood that I really didn't care for and I hate to be that way. It was probably the least favorite of the four that I visited because of the neighborhood, if they had picked it up and moved it it may have been a contender.

Nice facility, can't handle wound bac

They were very nice but they just said they couldn't handle the wound bac. It was a very nice facility, smaller, which is what I was looking for, and daddy had a friend who had been there before and he asked me to look at it. They just flat out told me they couldn't handle the wound bac but it was a very nice facility, clean, very pretty, looked like an older antebellum home.
