TOOK A TOUR ON SATURDAY WITH THE ACTIVITIES MANAGER. LIKED THE FACILITY BUT DID NOT GET SPECIFICS RE: CARE AND COST. SLIGHTLY CONCERNED THAT THE DIMENTIA SECTION WAS TOO ADVANCED ...

Requires a $160,000 entrance fee, fee is $4,000 if you go into assisted living.

The facility is very nice looking. A big plus is the fact it is in Monterey. The attractiveness of this community - both the common areas and the units themselves - is a big plus. It didn't seem to me, however, that there was much of an outdoor area that was incorporated into the community itself. The other communities seemed to have more outdoor space that allowed residents to experience a garden.

Beautiful facility with friendly staff. Terrace Club is great option.

Nice - definite possibility

This place was nice. The director was very thorough although a bit intense at times. Felt like she was doing a hard sell. Her presentation sounded good, but I was disappointed in the room that she showed me. It was tiny, plain with no bathtub.

I met with the director, beautiful lobby, great local, stuffy dining room. Lovely pool,not happy about the rules for visitors & keeping a car on property.

This facility is set up too much for independent living than I would like for my mom. I worry about the mini-kitchens and such and would prefer something with more combined facilities for dining and activities that would engage my mom more.

We were not very happy at Ivy. Those at the reception desk rarely smiled, they always seemed cranky and like you were putting them out. They never learned my name. I will just say, you get what you pay for.

They had a lot of turnover when we got there which has been frustrating. We have had struggles getting care staff on board with things like consistent showers. It has taken some time for things to get straightened out. The front desk reception staff are always very kind and helpful and supportive of trying to remedy some of the situations we are having. They are on the ball and I think that is because they have all been there a long time.

The community is very expensive and that is why I'm leaving. The community means well, but the have problems. There are a lot of empty apartments currently.

The facility itself is kept up well. My mom has been at Bonaventure for 3 months and although she is not in love with living there, she seems to be reasonably comfortable all things considered. The staff seems genuinely concerned about the welfare of the residents which in my mind is a real plus. PROS: 1. Floor staff is courteous and helpful. 2. Facility is clean and orderly. 3. There are numerous activities and outings in which the residents can participate. 4. Residents in the assisted care side have their own apartment which is fairly spacious compared to other facilities I visited. 5. Residents I've talked to seem to enjoy living there. CONS: 1. The communication chain between management and residents seems weak. My mom has often made the same request for simple maintenance issues, only to be ignored. Out of sight, out of mind. 2. Compared with other assisted care facilities we visited, the food is AT BEST, mediocre. Additionally, the wait staff is very slow in waiting the residents tables. 3. Even though I mentioned that the facility was clean and orderly, many areas at Bonaventure are dated or almost worn out, i.e. carpet, furniture and decoration items. Hope this helps

The food is good. It takes a long time for someone to respond to the call buttons. Some of the CNAs are not happy with their jobs and it shows. We've had to complain a few times. Now we find that several items were missing from my mom's room, including a purse with money in it. I hope they find out who is doing this. If not, we will be looking for a new place for Mom.

My mother recently lived at oakmont Carmichael. I removed her because of the Carmichael Nurse. She is an LVN not an RN and has very little experience as a nurse. She failed to care for my mother's needs. Lied about what she provided to her. Failed to follow Title 22 requirements. The Executive Director will ignore family members who question her. She does not return calls or emails and will not look at you if she knows there is an issue. My mother suffered under the medical care of the nurse. The care staff were excellent, with the exception of a few bad eggs. The traditions director now is brilliant. She is the first one who has cared for the residents as well as families. I pray the building management, ED and LVN get better.

I thought Sunrise was very nice when I toured, but the community was very large , and I thought that the rooms seemed institutionalized. There was nothing but blinds in the windows and no pictures on the walls. They just seemed bare and stark to me. Other areas in the community like the dining room looked nicer, but I was uncomfortable with the large community size and the stark quality of the rooms

The Wellington has turned out to be a great place for my parents except one big problem: the food is not very good. They have a few items that are ok but for the most part is is over cooked and pretty mediocre My mom was a gourmet cook so she hates the food and so does my dad. The menu sounds amazing but the chef is not good. The chicken is dry, the meat is over cooked. Tasteless. Basically hospital food quality. Other than that, the staff is friendly and caring. Nice apartments but expensive in light of food issue

The staff here is great, however since my mother-in-law moved in a month ago they have been unable to install a working thermostat, a working TV box or a defective ceiling light despite numerous complaints. We are told that since they were purchased by Sunrise, they could not used their prior vendors and that has caused the delays. Without these issues the rating would be much better.
