It's very clean, and the staff is excellent. I would rather not comment on the value, it's hard to say. There have been a couple of falls, and that is concerning. I am very impressed with the staff, I like how everyone works together if issues come up. I like how affectionate they are to the residents.

Spoke to Anne-- very nice. Assisted living- Coldwater south of 101 so easier for sister/brother in law to visit. 70% Jewish which is a plus for mom. Far more expensive-- studio starts at $3900/mo. Accept long term care

Sunrise of Palo Alto is nice. I'm pleased so far with everything. I chose this facility because the people are friendly and seem to get along with each other. They genuinely care about the residents. I am very pleased and my mom has adjusted well.

This was a very nice place. My loved one lived here for years. It was clean, and the people were friendly. It was just very expensive. We found a place that is just as nice for about half the cost, so we moved. There was nothing bad about sunrise though, it was good.

Near Golden Gate Park, nice area, lots of trees, etc. Fees for 1 bedroom beginning around 5,000. Lots of activities...Seniors residing there are active and enjoy doing things, going on outings daily. Leslie will tour in a couple fo weeks

I loved the garden, outdoor walkways, very large and highly motivating community center. The rooms didn't have private bathrooms.

A very friendly staff, very cozy atmosphere, pleasant guests who speak highly of their satisfaction. Good food. Neighborhood nice, but with few shops nearby.

Attractive facility. Location not optimal but not too bad. As advised, substantially more expensive than facilities in my area. Shared room small for the price. Nice layout to memory care wing, not very big.

This community is similar to other places in the area and just as good from what I saw. It is smaller, with only about 75 residents or so. There are lots of staff members to help the residents if they need it. There are open community areas, and the whole place is bright and open. There are outdoor spaces and common dining rooms for the residents. Overall, it has been great so far.

Most staff are very friendly, with occasional lapses in service (too busy to help dress; slow, slow kitchen sometimes); coordination of offsite pharmacy and medicine technicians could be better; like in any health care setting, patient advocacy (usually a family member) is essential (especially during the initial period) to insuring that the care is appropriate, complete and timely. Supervisory staff & management are very responsive.

All in all we really liked Casa Sandoval, but felt it didn't fit well with our father's dementia problems.

I would say pay attention to the condition of the person going into the facility, that makes a big difference. Unless they can bear one hundred percent of their own wait and take care of themselves, then it might not be the best fit. It's primarily for people that can hold their own, if you can walk, get up out of bed, and do your own chores, then its perfect. It's in a nice setting, they have a nice environment and a nice staff. However if you need more than the minimal amount of assistance, I would look for a board and care instead.

My experience is with the Villagio, the memory care community that is on the Capriana retirement campus. They’re expensive and they’re just like everyone else. The Capriana’s building is very new.

I think it’s great. The prices went down. The rooms seem bigger. My dad seems happy. It’s very nice. The meals are excellent. There is enough parking, but visiting parking is a little rough. The laundry service has been fine, but there are washers and dryers if residents want to do their own too.

This sounds like a great place, although all of their first floor apartments are gone even though they are not even open yet. The gardens and lands around the facility sound awesome, and they are known for their excellent food. Liz, whom I talked to, said it is like being on a cruise ship where everything is perfect just for you! This location has mountain view all around. Opens at the end of July 2014. Rating is based on my telcon with Liz. This is a smaller place with only 79 apartments. You can be part of the garden club and work in the flower gardens all you want.

The building is very clean and the staff is friendly. They offer a fair amount of activities as well, and the care provided is more than adequate. It is fairly expensive though, and I'm not sure that everything they offer is worth as much as they charge. I don't think that I would move my father here, but I would suggest visiting it for yourself to see if it would be a good fit for you. My price point might not be the same as yours. Good luck!
