Sunrise of West Hills is an absolutely beautiful facility. We decided against them because it all just felt very corporate.

This community was not as well managed as the choice that we were looking at for my loved one. I did not feel like they were the match that we were looking for.

This community had been hit hard by covid. It was really quiet and empty when I was there.

We chose Sunrise because we liked the fact that it was a smaller facility which gave it a more homey feel. The location was also close to our home and the staff members were very nice. The facility itself is also very clean and pretty. My mom has gone on and on about how friendly the staff and residents are. We had our caregiver go to visit mom and she did say she had to remind them to clean her room and give her showers. Overall I would recommend to others.

It's a high end facility. The activities and environment are extremely good. Depending on the needs of your family member, I would suggest reviewing closely any need for 24-hour care. Since this was our first time with this type of care, we had some misconceptions about how much care would be provided. But it's a beautiful place. And the staff is great. I know it's a tough job dealing with memory care patients, and they've been very good with my loved one. If anything, admin is a little disorganized. I still haven't gotten invites and updates and things like that. Overall they're good when I come to them with questions or concerns. It just depends on who you speak with. I've found that email has been the best way to communicate. The physical therapy staff is absolutely wonderful.

I love activity and food

I enjoyed my tour at Oakmont of San Antonio Heights. The staff were very nice to me, and I felt like they really wanted me to be there. But the staff at the community I ended up choosing really went above and beyond to figure out the challenges and problems I was facing at the time, and they gave me a lot of help and assistance and stuck with me to work through and solve those problems.

We love Sunrise and my husband seems to be adjusting well. We chose this facility because the price was right and in our area, they were one of the few ones who took insulin dependent residents. The staff seem to all be very friendly, caring, and patient. I would recommend to others looking.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought what they offered medically for the residents was superior. However, we did not like the layout of the apartments or the dining area.

This is a good place to go. The staff are responsive, friendly, and treat the residents like family. They are good at keeping the family informed of changes. There are games, bingo, exercises and more for activities.

The staff is very friendly, caring, and helpful. The community does a good job but it is very expensive. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

The management for the community has recently changed. They are currently in a transition period. They do have entertainment and activities for the residents. I would recommend to wait until the transition is over for anyone trying to currently move in. Just give them a little more time.

I am very happy with Sunrise. It seems well managed and quite satisfactory. All of the staff are friendly and remember residents names. They are attentive and fast to respond. There are no activities provided at the moment due to covid restrictions, hopefully that will change soon. I would recommend to others looking and already have.

Our loved one was there for just a few months for respite care, but our experience was good. The community was clean, and we thought the staff members and their care services were great. The meals and dining service was good. They did have activities going on. At first since this was our families first experience with a community, the value for cost was sticker shocking, but after looking around we thought it was fine.

I really liked Oakmont of Simi Valley. In the end, I was really torn between them and another facility. Oakmont was a new facility, which I liked. They seemed to be really on top of things. The only thing I didn’t like was during the tour, they were talking directly to my loved one with dementia about moving in, which confused her. She didn’t fully comprehend what was going on and got agitated. At the place that we ended up choosing, they directed that part of the conversation to me, and things went more smoothly. As a newer facility, I felt like maybe Oakmont wasn't as experienced with certain things like that. I also wish that they used itemized billing for care needs. Even though they had multiple tiers for level of care, I felt like you would still end up paying for things you didn't need. But any cons they definitely made up for with the pros, and they were one of our top two choices when it came time to make a decision.

We chose Oakmont of Folsom because she was borderline dementia/Alzheimer's, and other places wanted to move her straight into memory care. But Oakmont was able to have her go into assisted living, which gives her more freedom until things progress. Overall I would recommend this facility to other families who are looking.
