Novellus Living

We really liked the feeling of this community and are moving our mother in this month. It is bright and sunny from the minute you walk in and she will enjoy the courtyard off the lobby with her gardening. It was very clean and we really enjoyed lunch. A few residents came up to introduce themselves to us and expressed their happiness with living there. Said the food was great. which is very importatnt to mom as she was always a great cook. Also shared that the staff is very caring and so is the Director and nurse. they are hands-on and always available. We are looking forward to getting mom settled in her new apartment and having her close to us so we can see her more often. I think it will really be a good fit for our family.

My mom was only there 2 days, we all thought she could do assisted living but she had an incident and they decided that she needed skilled nursing. We liked the people and also the convinience, it seemed like there were nice activities and it would have been really great if she could have stayed and enjoyed them. They were really great about refunding us our money and they were extremely good to us, so much so that we wanted to put my mother in law in the Emeritus at Carmel.

This one looks much better than the first time we visited, which was a year or more ago. The cost is affordable for us and it looks like the right size place for Dad, with enough care plus mental stimulation for his state of mind. I like their comprehensive assessment approach. Also this is a convenient location for us. They have respite stays so my Dad can try it out for 7 days before moving in. This one is at the top of my list.

It cost less then the other places we been to. It is bright and clean. The staff is real good to her. Over all it is a good place. Don't know about the activities she only been there three months.

My grandmother, Susan Coley, has called Novellus Clairemont home for the past year and a half, and our family is deeply grateful for the care, safety, and comfort she has found there. Susan is very aware and engaged, often speaking highly of the staff members who make her feel supported every day. [name removed] has helped build Susan’s confidence and trust in her medications and care, especially understanding the uncertainty from past experiences. [name removed], the Activities Director, always goes above and beyond to create meaningful activities that encourage joy and community engagement. We also appreciate [names removed] for their attentive support in Susan’s daily well-being, and EJ for prompt, professional communication regarding her care and needs.

It is a tough decision to move a parent into an assisted living facility. The staff at Novellus have been extremely helpful and caring. This has made the transition much easier.

Novellus has improved things since the buyout. There are not a lot of activities for more active residents. Most events occur in the morning, my brother is not a morning person! This is our families experience, we would absolutely recommend Novellus Clairemont. They have done many improvements and new staff is excellent.

My mom was here when it was still Brookdale. Staff was friendly and helpful. When someone first enters it would be nice if they had more "greeters" to make that transition easier. My mom was not able to get up on her own so having someone check on her would have been helpful. They were suppose to be checking but maybe documentation by the door would help for accountability. Overall staff was very kind.

We moved my sister in in February. I received notice today that her both her rent and her Level of Care monthly charges are going up by almost [amount removed] on 7/1! I'm in shock! This is an older facility that needs improvements made to the building like new flooring, new paint and fixtures in the common areas. And they desperately need more parking and a NEW "drop off, pick up" area. The location is on a very busy street with a very unsafe and unfriendly "drop off, pick up" area. I would tell other people that the A PLACE FOR MOM option of selecting a facility for a loved one was a lifesaver for my family as we had a very short fuse to select a facility and get my sister moved in ASAP. It is a mind boggling experience that I do not wish on anybody. But the reality is that the majority of us will be faced with the need for some level of care either at home, in an assisted living facility or in a nursing home. They had the space available at a price that we could possibly afford with the services that my sister needed ASAP. Overall, being into this journey for 3 months, there have been more PROS than CONS with this facility. Honestly, I'm still learning as I go at this time and I'm just trying to keep our heads above water emotionally and financially. One key of many keys to success is for the loved ones of the patient to stay VERY INVOLVED with the care of your loved one to monitor the ongoing quality of the care provided and the cost of the care provided.

I am a resident here at Brookdale Clairemont for almost 2 years. There’s neat things to do thanks to the activity manager. I really like the staff they do have. The food is being improved because of the new chef. I really enjoy our bus outings.

This has been a pretty good experience with staff for us. The staff communication with the family has been good. Sometimes it has taken longer than expected to hear a response about our questions. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and there are choices for the residents to choose from. The community could use more staffing to assist with the care of the residents.

Also went well with this tour, but facility chose was closer to our family.

We are super happy with everything. The only complaint he has had is the food. The facility does know that there are complaints and they are working on improving things. The care and the people have been wonderful. I would recommend to others looking depending on what you loved one needs.

They were very caring and very concerned. My loved one passed away while he lived there, and they showed their concern and asked if there was anything they could do to help. Everyone was very friendly. It was relatively clean, but the carpet had some stains, and sometimes messes would take a couple of days to be cleaned. It's an older facility too, so it's harder to keep clean and/or look clean. But overall, I think it was a good value.

I would tell others that this specific community is a great place to check out. The staff has been good to work with. The community allows pets. The rooms are adequate for the residents and some of the rooms have small patios.

Nice location, easy access, flat terrain so easy for my mom to get around, knowledgeable and very nice staff. Waiting on pricing.

Nice property and friendly staffs. Rooms were a nice size and would fit my Mom's needs.

I took a tour of this facility and it seemed good. The staff was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable but the building itself was on a busy street, which is something I wasn’t a fan of. They also had different times for eating, so not everyone ate at the same time. They had plenty of activities and everything seemed to be pretty clean. Ultimately, it came down to the location of the building and the fact that it just didn’t fit our specific needs.

Things are going okay for me here. The staff needs a little more control but every place needs that so I can’t complain. The food is really good and it’s really nutritious. They have a few activities and they keep everything clean. It’s really a beautiful place, I’m really happy. I think overall they’re doing very well.
