It isn't perfect but it's a really good place. I haven't had great luck with getting someone to get back to me, when I call. This is memory care, so it can be difficult to plan activities that everyone can do. The food is good. They could improve the response time with the administrative or management. The aides and help are good. This was the only place that was really a true memory care center. They were able to give some hands on services, we could see that they were being well taken care of and were very attentive to their needs.

My husband was only there for a week for Respite care. The only thing he didn't like was people that live there wandered in his room and were very persistent in staying. Always took a staff member to get them to leave. He said food was very good. The staff was always friendly and helpful.

I have appreciated being able to speak to whatever person is responsible for the various services. Personnel make themselves available, including the individual care givers. I am specifically pleased with their "ambassador" program, where people who live there make up the "ambassadors" who also make themselves available to help new tenants, as well as being a voice for on-going programs/services. I appreciate that I am allowed to take part in activities with my mom, and that I have access to her 24-hrs/day (if needed). Emeritus Sellwood is a beautiful facility.

Large facility.Staff was engaged and friendly.Large common area (+ add'l rooms) for activities, meals, television. Access to large outside patio area w/ room to sit and access to walking paths. Entire area inside and out very secure for entry and exit. Cons - resident rooms nice however they were extended hallways off the main common area. All were exactly the same and felt like it would be confusing for memory residents to find their way. Identification for each room was a memory box outside the resident door containing personal momentos. Mom is too advanced for this to be effictive. Most expensive facility toured.

I'm very happy so far. The food I would give a five. Communication with family could be better. Before moving in I was in close contact with the leasing representative, and she was extremely helpful, but once we were in and she wasn't my point of contact anymore it was a little more difficult, just knowing who to reach in each department. We chose them over others because it had a homey feeling, the staff was very friendly, the price was reasonable, and the location was the best for us.

That was nice for just a tiny little room that they had. I like the guy that's in there. I forget his name but he was really really nice. It's a smaller place but at least they have companionship of the other residents there. That was impressive to me.

I went to look at their day program but when I went with my mother their director for all the activities had just quit. So we went there and all the activities were held in one room all day and lunch was brought in so they never really left that room and I didn't really like that. I know that was kind of an off day for them. They said they would call me when the hired a new activity director but by that time I had already found another place.

I was impressed by the facility and the staff, and it was real close to our home. If we selected a place, it would probably be this one. Money is still a problem.

I was very very happy with them. I'd recommend them to anybody. We like the location, price, and the facility - all that is good. I think they could do a little bit more in the communication area.

They're a nice assisted living place in Japantown. It was a completely different situation that what my mother is in now. It's a nice facility. There are individual rooms and they make the food for you and everything but they don't really treat people with dementia so I didn't think it would be right for my mom.

I didn't think it was a good fit for my sister. She was pretty independent and it seemed to me that if you need more care that Emeritus might be the place that you would want to be. It didn't seem quite as open to me.

I went to go see it but I didn't get as far as seeing a room or anything. I know it was like $1000 more than the other place we were looking at and I just didn't get the same feeling when I walked in there. They were redecorating and repainting so it was a bit of a mess. The staff was nice but I guess it just was not a good time to assess the office.

I loved the feel for this and it seems to offer the stimulation I am looking for. I will take someone from the family to look at it. They have a 3 month waiting list and no respite care. Highest on my list now. $4,000/mo + cable... too good to be true.

The staff that we have dealt with have been very friendly. My frame of reference is that for many years mother lived with my sister and brother-in-law and then they were brining in outside help and Emeritus is a little bit under that cost and it's a much lovelier place. She moved in on Sept. 4th and on the 5th of Sept there were a few things not done. When we walked in the room mother was in bed, she did not have her oxygen on that she would normally have at night. that might have been her own doing but anyhow it wasn't on. It was an awkward start. There was some catching up to do. Now things are going better. It was day two before they had it figured out. I get calls from several staff members there and I talk to the former caregiver that came to my sister's house who visits mother and to the best of my knowledge, things are going quite well. There have been no serious issues. It's going about as smoothly as can be.

It was a really nice place. It was kept very nice. It was cheery and all the staff was friendly and happy all of the time. They had 3 outdoor places that I could go with my mom and sit and talk. The grounds are very well manicured and they have a good activities program. I'd give them a 4 on quality of food. It's good but not quite as good as where my mom is now. We moved her because of the cost. It was $4760 a month and I'm getting ready to retire myself so the cost became too much.

It was nice but it just wasn't the right match for what we needed at the time.

I liked it but my sister takes insulin shots 4x a day and she has a tendency to bend needles if the does it herself so she needs soemone to do it for her. They didn't have anyone to giver her shots on weekends so I would have to go over there every weekend to do the shots. They were very good, it was just the shots.

Friendliness is off the chart, it's pretty pricey and I've been over several times when my mother was out in public and her clothes were on backwards and that really upset me. There have been a couple of times when it smelled like urine but I have to be fair and say that that was only a couple of times in the past 7 months that my moms been there. I cant say enough about how great the staff is, the director, Leslie is AWESOME and they have so many activities. They really cater to keeping the clients busy and they have quality entertainment as far as making every effort to include the families and keep them recreationally busy. The food also is always good as far as nutrition and variety. For the most part, I'm very happy with them!

I understand this is a good place for Alhzheimer's care. Not ready yet.
