Newly Remodeled

Property renovation is under way, it's so new we haven't had the opportunity to experience all of the amenities yet. So far so good!

Friendly Staff, But Needs More Experience

The staff members working at the Brookdale Springfield Woodside are all very friendly and helpful and very nice. However, they do need to improve on the competency and the expertise of the care givers.

not getting her prescribed medication on time

At Powell Valley Assisted Living & Memory Care the main problems she had was not getting her prescribed medication on time. The medication made her feel better and they were supposed to be in her room at 8 am and they were not getting there till 10:30 am. The situation did improve after talking to a staff member.

helpful and cheerful

They give mom good care at Emeritus at Apline Campus. They give her a shower twice a week. I do wish they would have more activities in the afternoon, about all they have going on is TV. I also think my mother needs more attention when she is dressing. Sometimes she is wearing someone else's clothing, it seems to get mixed up. The floor is sometimes sticky at this facility. The staff are very helpful and cheerful here.

It's been very positive..

It's been very positive. I think it has been really good. The hard part has been my mothers transition. There is a lack of activities. There's not enough for my mother to do. There is an exercise group that she participates in. She's not into bingo and things like that. I think it would be nice if they had book readings and outdoor activities. The people have been absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this place.

Nice staff, going through growing pains.

On care services, I am getting too many phone calls. I'm getting a little tired of it. They seem to be going through growing pains. I know they're trying to get coordinated. I get medicines for my mom and I will drop it off and then the next morning will get a phone call saying they need her medicine. Their communication is off internally. Their staff is very helpful and very nice and nice to my mom.

It's a really nice place, and they take good care of him there.

It's a really nice place, and they take good care of him there. My husband is happy there, and that's what matters. It's close to me, and that's one of the main reasons I chose them. The only reason they don't get a five is because they are very expensive, but the price goes down if you get a shared room. I would recommend them to others.

I like the organization and the staff..

I like the organization and the staff. My only criticism is the weekly cleaning of my aunt's apartment. It doesn't seem very thorough. Overall, it has been a very good experience. Everyone there seems very nice and caring. They offer activities. I have already recommended it to people I know. The Powell Assisted Living & Memory Care is a really nice community with a nice atmosphere. It has been good.

It's going okay, it's pretty clean, and the staff is friendly. They are attentive, and have lots of activities. I will give them a four for food. We chose them over some of the others because the location was good for us.

Very nice place, really need to work on the food though

For the most part everything at Emeritus at Alpine Campus has been great! My Mom loves the apartment, and they put in a brand carpet and paint when she moved in. The services and amenities they offer are very nice as well. The housekeepers do an excellent job, the maintenance men are efficient and always happy to help, and she loves the on-site hairdresser! The biggest problem is that the food is terrible. I've heard complaints both from my loved one as well as many of the other residents. Mom has started doing her own cooking again, as she just can't stomach what they serve. That was a big disappointment to us, since not having to cook anymore was one of the big draws to an assisted living community.

It's beautiful

It's beautiful. A very nice place. I really liked it. It was either assisted living or memory care. They didn't have that in between level of care. We needed something that could bridge that gap. Still a very nice place for those that are a good fit.

Excellent

If that’s the type of facility you need, I think it’s an excellent one. There is enough parking. It’s visually very appealing. It’s very clean, but I’m not the one that lives there. My loved one lives there. My loved one hadn’t said anything good or bad about the food.

Response to Inquiry - Niles

We moved our mom to Alpine Campus from another Emeritus venue last summer. She was becoming more unable to care for herself and had started wandering outside the venue. At Alpine Campus she has a lovely room, attentive staff and can roam all four neighborhoods no matter what time of day or night. She seems so much happier given the freedom she has and the higher staff to resident ration. Being able to get up during the night and see a friendly face and have a cup of coffee has really diminished her anxiety and she is more relaxed and comfortable.

A Little Too Elegant

It was very nice, but my mom felt that it was a little too elegant for her. We didn't get to see the Woodside, only Briarwood. They said that the Woodside is a little less extravagant. Mostly it is very expensive. The money was a huge factor. She is in assisted living, but she is not even at care level one. She would have had to pay extra even though she wouldn't have been receiving care.

No Kitchens

That was a beautiful place! The views were just breathtaking of the hills and the river and the city. The reason I didn't move in to that one is because there was no kitchen in the unit. You had to eat every meal in the dining room and there was no option on that. Sometimes you just want to make a little breakfast or snack or something. They had two burners and a mini fridge but I don't know what you could do with that.

Assisted Living and Memory Care

I picked Powell Valley mainly because it has the assisted living and memory care and they accept Medicaid. Those are two big pluses. They have been okay. They haven't been spectacular on the care. My mom is 100% dementia so they first went in to the assisted living and we just moved her to memory care, splitting my parents up. It was very discouraging for us to do that and we're still in the process of making sure that was the right move. In the assisted living there is not a lot of one on one care which I guess that was my fault for not looking into that before hand. Besides that it's been okay. I feel the assisted living part is really clean. I'm not really happy with the cleanliness of the memory care part yet. It's a little bit older and not as updated as the assisted living. I really do like the activities in the memory care. They're trying to get them to be involved.
