Morningside Elite Management

Placed Mom here for 5 months in 2017. There were no activities for the memory care floor. Mom became very sedentary and arthritis got worse. Mom was doing worse when I removed her from the facility than when I placed here there. Very little response from management when suggestions were offered. It was very a frustrating experience for me. Happier since I removed my mom from this facility.

No independent living. Assisted living only. St. Ursula's Church brings celebrates mass at facility on Thursdays. Facility does not provide transportation to Sunday mass. I politely ended inquiry here because Mom had to give up her daily mass when we took away the car, I don't think she can give up her Sabbath too.

Really not confident they would do the best job for our loved one. They fussed more over renovations and did not seem all that interested or even in tune with care for a dementia resident.

This place is horrible. It looks very pretty from the outside, the lawn is well manicured, the downstairs sitting area looks great, there's water offered & some activities however when it comes to asking questions about your loved one there's no one in charge. They currently have the marketing director acting as the interim director. When talking to her, I Informed her that every time I visit, my loved ones room is a mess, smells like soiled clothing, food everywhere, I saw 2 baby roaches and I can never tell if they are assisting her with the bathroom or bathing b/cthere are always feces in her clothing. Last week my loved one was locked in the hallway in tears. She told me that they had locked her out of her $5k a month room. The staff member upstairs confirmed this saying that they had been given orders of 24 hr lockdown for the 2nd floor residents. When discussing this with the ID she said that we should have recieved a letter and a call from the past director but that she wasn't doing her job properly. She said that they should have activities on the 2nd floor like the rest of the floors but they were working on that so in the meantime, she would be locked out of her room unless we brought her downstairs. She also said that we would receive a notice of rent increase soon. So, we send our loved one to an upscale living facility to be locked down in a hallway w/ roaches and a 2:30 ratio of caretaker to senior w/no directives and multiple unanswered calls to corporate?

I would want families to know when looking into Morningside House of Ellicott that they will not address bed sores. I had to pay out of pocket for bed sores because they would not touch them even though they never told us that before I pulled him out. When I went in to visit him, there were ants crawling all over his body and they were never addressed. There was a wash pan under his bed and the manager of the department was next to his bedroom so I took it over to her and told her and she said they couldn't manage it be cause they were on the ground floor. I would not recommend this community.

First most of the understaffed aides that work with your loved ones are for the most part caring and compassionate when they have time Notice the understaff part They have to constantly have leave a unit and go to another unit to help out leaving that unit with one aide and that was before the covid19 Since being put on lockdown things have gotten worse It seems everytime u try and get a video call with ur loved one it is either not working or u are only allowed every 3 days Now the new rule made by the morningside community is only 2 total video calls a week this is very disturbing and frustrating Dont get me to lying about who the community is made up of Phone calls U have to make multiple calls before u can talk to your loved one This has been going on for weeks There has been instances when i have called and after being transfered residents have answered I guess if ur understaffed and dicombobulated u need extra help LOL NOT I

If your mother or father has dementia do not and I mean do not allow them to stay at a Sunrise especially Exton. My father went on a Friday six months ago and they called the police and ambulance 5 days later where they took him to Brandywine Hospital. Where he died 3 weeks later. He went in there happy with sun downing. They are not prepared for elders with this type of disease and do not know how to handle them. When I went in there for dinner most of the patients were sitting with their heads down. Very sad place. Please please do not go!

Horrible!!!

Thankfully we were able to move my grandmother out of Morningside before she died there. She was paying for level 4 care and during her stay she experienced everything from failure to administer medications properly, failure to help with feeding, rude and hostile attitudes from some staff members to unsanitary conditions. The last straw was when she was left in her wheelchair alone in her room. Due to her stage 4 cancer progression and broken hip she is too weak to sit in a chair for longer than one hour but they had her in it for 4 hours and couldn't spend the time to place her back in her bed after that length of time or switch her oxygen. Thankfully, my daughters and I arrived that day at the right time and remedied the situation personally. Once her aide did come in (40 minutes after the emergency call button was used) she entered with such a disrespectful attitude I had to ask if she knew this was her place of employment. My emails and phone calls to the president were ignored and when I asked to speak to him in person, the many times I was there, he was in a meeting. It shows they are not concerned with their residents care. They should focus their spending/funds to proper nurse and aide training rather than an aesthetically pleasing lobby.

This place is not good at all. Some of the aids treat you like they don't care and they disrespect you. Place is kept very clean and the receptionist [name removed] is extremely nice.

I would never recommend this place to anyone they have made the stay for my mother horrible at this place. The facility constantly smells like urine and the staff has no quality of care that they provide to the residents. My mother has recently received bed sores because she was left in the bed without getting help for days. I have also personally seen other people left in there urine and not being helped or cleaned. What really makes me mad is when I expressed my concern to the staff about all of this the nurse has an attitude with me. I can not wait to get my mother out of this place.

The bedbug issue is a real one. There are multiple rooms that have or have had the problem which means that it is or will become a widespread issue. if it actually isn't already. [removed] I'm trying to get my loved one to move out of there. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Ever. I felt it had gone downhill in cleanliness and care prior to even knowing about the bedbugs.

As of July 20, 2015. This place is infested with bed bugs. I found a few on articles of clothing I took home to wash for a family member. The staff including the head people in charge could care less about the well being of the residents or visitors that may accidentally these nasty bugs home as I did. This place needs to close down until the problem is fixed.
