MorningStar Senior Living

When my brother first moved into a 2 BR condo at MorningStar, I travelled down from Canada to spend time with him and familiarize myself with MorningStar. He resides in the Senior Residence building, and the family anticipate he will likely move into Assisted Living Quarters when required. I was not merely satisfied, but very impressed by all aspects of the organization. EVERY staff member is friendly, approachable, helpful, cheerful and they go out of their way to ensure your request is satisfied. The premises are kept very clean, the meals are varied, healthy and tasty. The condos are well set up and maintained - I must note the efficiency of the maintenance staff who will not quit until the problem is solved, no matter how small (e.g. amending the door lock) or how big (e.g.,microwave or air conditioning system). Every floor has a washer and dryer facility, and the hallways are tastefully decorated and maintained. I found the rooms to be soundproof - I heard NO sounds from either side of my brother's room in the week I was there. The amenities are many and varied: Games room and card tables, Garden room, Library, Exercise room with equipment, wonderful dining room facility, a morning coffee bar with 'treats' available throughout the morning, walking paths just out the front doors. Activities are offered weekly, with special trips planned occasionally. Weekly shuttle service to WalMart, the pool, and a nearby shopping area were available. Evening performances are offered periodically - Bluegrass music, folk music trio, piano music, etc. I was pleased to learn that the Dining Room facility could accommodate guests (like me!!) with little trouble. Guests are charged a small amount, but then visitors don't have to be leaving at mealtime. And I found the food delicious and varied, allowing for choice and special requirements. I likely pestered the staff with myriad questions and requests and found each of them to be polite, responsive, and helpful. I write from Canada, with pleasure, knowing that my brother is living where he is safe, content, and surrounded by those like him who are adjusting in various ways to their new life in retirement and aging. Help, when needed, is at the ready and assistance given with a smile and assurances.

It's now been 8 months since my Mom moved into Morningstar at Ridgegate. We were attracted to the Facilities, meal quality, amenities and of course care staff. All have been excellent. When I come over and Mom and I are walking around, at least a half dozen staff members say hello and something positive. The staff to resident ratio seems really good. There are also so many activities. Food is usually quite good. My Mom has made a lot of friends and is happier now than when she was living at home. She says it is like living in a 5 star hotel!

MorningStar was an excellent facility for my sister to live at after several weeks in rehab. She was cared for by an attentive and dedicated staff. The dining experience could not have been better, both from the environment and quality and selection of food. There were a variety of social events which my sister, who is a very social person, fully enjoyed. I cannot think of a singe thing MorningStar could have done to improve the quality of her stay.

Beautiful with lots of light and high ceilings making it feel more open. Pricey!

I moved my mom here from independent living after looking at several assisted living centers. This place is brand new and beautifully appointed. The staff is joyful and passionate about their work and take good care of my mother. The food is wonderful as well. I definitely recommend Morningstar.

My mom recently moved here and it is wonderful. All of the staff go out of their way to make her comfortable and the food is great which is a big plus. It is brand new so it has the feel of an upscale hotel. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Beautiful and welcoming facility. Appreciated each staff person and resident I met and talk with. It is a viable option for respite care for my family member.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Morning Star Mount Shadows while seeking a Senior care facility. I was totally impressed with the staff, everyone was helpful, caring and friendly. I was especially impressed with the presentation, and quality of the food being served. It had the appearance of a meal from a quality restaurant, not what I expected from a care facility. The residents seemed happy and enjoyed their meal. You should be proud of your facility and the people you have working there!

Exceptionally beautiful facility. Activities and meals seemed to be very comprehensive and of high quality. Flexible in care provided - i.e. while services provided are Assisted living and Memory Care, resident could go in on an "independent living basis" and add care as needed. Nice size facility and laid out logically. Toured with [Name removed] - who was excellent - but [Name removed] followed up directly with me via email.

I love this site. Well designed, nice upgrades, Nice location, and great staff. Friendly and helpful. This center offers wonderful opportunities for their residents. One resident even crafted a pillow that was put on display in one of the lobby areas. I want to live there.

My mother has chosen this facility. Excellent facility! The IL apartment I toured was a great size. It was very roomy and had a full kitchen. Upon arrival I asked for the person I had been confirmed with for the tour. One of the receptionists told the other one, "No, don't call her, call "X", so that was confusing. I also felt neither of the receptionists were very warm or friendly, and neither was the person who gave me the tour. I felt rushed. I did have a confirmed appointment and was on time. I also like it because the price includes only two meals a day, which is what my mother wants, so she would't be paying for a meal she was not eating.

My mom was here for a week for respite care. She loved it here. The staff was wonderful, It was clean she never found anything wrong. She really enjoyed the food. She would play bingo and she won $20 that was here highlight of the week. I would recommend this community.

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mother. I absolutely loved this place and it is nicely put together. The marketing director who gave me the tour was friendly and outgoing. She was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the tour. However, we didn’t pick this community because it is more expensive than other places and they came unfurnished.

I enjoy living at The Regency Park Fair Oaks because it is such a pleasant place one might think they were on a vacation of sorts. Our tasty food is prepared with flair. Activities are imaginative and stimulating, happening both on site and away. Our private baths are tidied up every day with fresh linens because our staff keeps us spotless. The ratio of staff to residents is high so that we get our needs met sooner than other places I have known. This is a friendly, very caring kind of place. Anonymous Resident

Beautiful place. Great location, but on the small side. Getting into will be harder. They have some crazy rules about pets, $1000.00 no refundable plus $60.00 a month...over kill.

I live here currently. When you first walk in, you can see that the ceiling is 3 stories high and it looks like the main entrance to a lodge in the mountains. The facility is beautiful and not very old; it feels more like home and not at all like an institution. The staff is very good with people and they have a good sense of humor. There are a lot of activities for the residents to do throughout the day and they have a chapel with a man that volunteers to do services on Sundays. They also have a bus that takes residents to various churches; you can participate if you want to but it isn’t mandatory. The art and furniture are both first class. You can participate as much as you want in the exercise classes or creative activities and the restaurant style food is good with plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you don’t like the entrees of the day then there are always about 6 other choices available to choose from. I have a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms and 2 walk-in closets and it’s really nice and big. I was able to bring all of my dearest personal items, which was very important to me. They also allow animals like small dogs and cats. I really like it here and would recommend it.

My Mom lives here and she hasn’t had any problems or complaints. The staff interacts with her very well. They stay on top of the cleanliness extremely well. I’ve never seen her room dirty and I go there every day. The food is awesome, it’s almost like eating at a restaurant. My Mom is eating well and there are times when I’m envious that I didn’t get a plate myself. They usually serve the chef’s choice but there seems to be a good variety. I don’t think I’ve seen the same thing being served within the past 2 months. The residents’ beds have alarm sensors in them for added safety and that’s something I really like. If someone falls out of bed or gets up in the middle of the night to wander, the staff is alerted immediately so they check on them. My wife worked in the geriatric healthcare field for about 30 years and even she’s impressed. I have no hesitations in recommending this place.

I am very pleased with this property and my loved one loves it here. It is a smaller location, there are less people living here, and there is a nice mixture of independent living and assisted living. Assisted living of course didn’t need much attention and the facility itself didn’t feel “nursing home” ish. It felt more like a community for older adults. They provide many activities for the residents and my loved one got actively involved right away within the first few weeks. She would be exhausted with the amount of activities that she participated in. Now she settled down and limited herself with doing 1-2 activities a day and of course she has her favorites. She loves the happy hour, chair yoga, and the little bus ride that would take them places. My loved one says that the food is fabulous. [Removed] is absolutely fabulous. He took an immense amount of time with us. He brought up questions that I never thought about asking. He is extremely caring. Before my loved one lived about 200mi away from us and our other family members. So we brought other family member in town and [Removed] took the same about time with them. When my loved one came in [Removed] actually came in on his day off to meet her. Every time I’m there, he takes the time to say hello to me and he pretty much closed the deal with us. We care so much for him and what we saw there. I recommend this location to others.

Certainly a higher and senior facility in Pasadena area. Well managed, well maintained, attention to detail. Good food, exercise classes, movies, 3 libraries, on floor kitchens, art classes. Shuttle service and provide. Very accommodating staff. Excellent choice.

Working at Fair Oaks for how many years with the elderly has been my honor and enjoyed my time with them.
