I was not happy with this community. She is not in this community. The staff is not helpful and did not take care of my mom wen she fell, they just called 911 and left her to wait for 911 to arrive. The food needs alot of improvements. They do offer activities. I would still recommend this community if improvments can be made.

General manager is unfriendly and uptight. Time for a vacation or new job! Nurse appears to be there to collect paycheck. Not interested in residents. Upper management needs to look at the huge turnover and complaint of residents. This echos through the place! Too expensive for what you get for your money. Terrible service in dining area because of huge turnover. Underpaid employees keeps the turning over. [removed] Management only cares about those dollies $$$$$$. [removed]. Stay away! Look elsewhere for your loved one!

Courtyards in new Bern has turned out to be everything they advertised. I was very taken with how much the staff really cares about elderly folks well being . this is a perfect place for my mother based on their attentiveness and kindness I strongly recommend !

My experience with Village Place was a very bad one, and I absolutely would not recommend them to anyone. The staff seemed uninvolved and uncaring, and they seem to have replaced many of their long term staff with young people that I'm sure they pay much less. I was very disappointed when it took their in-house doctor 3 weeks to okay a pain medication prescription that my loved one received from the hospital. I was also was not impressed with the dining service at all, there weren't many choices and the service was poor. However, the biggest issue I had was that my loved one's belongings were constantly being stolen. Nothing was safe, a two week supply of kleenex would be gone in days, clothes went missing, and eventually someone stole her wedding ring.

Horrible assistance. Not worth your moeny at all

We had a lot of issues. We had to fire them. We fired the care giving staff and brought in new horizon. There was poopy diapers left in a bag next to the furniture. Medication was not delivered in a timely matter. Call buttons were not responded to in a timely matter. My mother in law was in hospice, which means you don't transfer that person to emergency. She was asleep and hard to awaken and they took her to the hospital. That was really, really bad. She got so upset that she [removed] there shortly after. [removed]

When we initially went up there with my paretnst to check it out, they had all these services that they were going to include. After they got in there, none of the services were provided. They just never did anything. The food was terrible also. It was just a really bad overall experience. I would not recommend Courtyards at Berne Village to anyone.

I took my father out of Village Place due to the total lack of proper care. My Dad when in on a Friday afternoon and was promptly seen by their doctor to go over his health and medications. I was told that his meds would be picked up and given to him everyday. On Sat. his meds had not been picked up and I administered them. On Sun. his meds had not been picked up, and again I gave them to him. By Monday the meds were still in his room and I was getting very put out. I found a women who apologized for the slip up and promised to take care of the matter herself. She was the first caregiver I met with any concern. My father has mild to moderate dementia. He could not remember to take his meds. or if he had taken them. No one seemed happy or cheerful there. In fact the staff that I met was very fearful of mgmt. and keeping there jobs The exec. dir. was not friendly or helpful. I took my dad out of there after only six days.

We were extremely disappointed with Sunshine Villa. We went in and placed my mom there. They did an interview process and it seemed to be okay. She was put in the assisted living even though she should have been in memory care. They didn't have room so they put her in the assisted living. She was left to her own devices with things that she wasn't able to do herself. My mother was supposed to be reevaluated in two weeks but before that we got a call and we were given 5 hours to remove my mother from the place. We had nowhere for to put her. They were very cold and rude about it. I called everyday to see how my mom was doing and I could never get through to anybody and never got a call back. I would never recommend it to anybody to go there.

My sister lived in there and it was horrible because she broke out of there at midnight when I was in Europe and walked down to Meridian Avenue, one of the busiest strees in San Jose, and bloodied herself from head to toe and they took no responsibility for that. They promised a secure environment and said there would be someone at the front desk at all times and she just walked right out. At first they tried to tell me that she has walked down two filghts of stairs and gone out the side door but she can't walk 3 feet without her walker and can't go down one stair without help so that did not happen. They made us get 24hr care that would have been $18,000 a month on top of what they were already charging me. It was horrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

They have changed ownership since we have been here so it has gone downhill. Initially I would have rated it a 5 in the beginning, the gal we met with made a lot of promises in order to get us to sign and it ended up those things were not offered at all. The facility itself is great and my loved one loves the apartment, but it has not been what we thought it was going to be.

It has been an absolute nightmare. I believe some of this is due to the administration. They have stolen and lied to me. They were to take our insurance and they didn't. No one knows what they are doing here. I had to get corporate involved to get some resolution.

My aunt feels like she is in prison, and people bully her, like yesterday a lady was making fun of her and pulled her chair when she went to sit down to eat lunch, they say they do activities, but they don't with my aunt. They don't let her have any food, or water in her in her room, she has to go out to get it. No activities care service is poor, they tried to blame a cat from coming in her room on her because the lady that the cat takes care of does not like her. Overall value is poor. And the friendleyness in the memory care department is probably extinked, and just a horrible plaice I do not recommend going to Sheldon parks, it is a literal prison for my aunt, think twice about if you want to spent the rest of your life in a prison or in a different care park and have the best rest of your life! We are working on moving my aunt, and did I mention that after you run out of money you get kicked out on to the streets! Ya that's how bad it is so if you think about going to Sheldon parks I will hope you will be ok!

Feels more like a bait and switch senior living community. Arbour Square is beautiful and breathtaking when you walk in the front doors. But, after our tour was displeased with the overall community itself. There was a manager arguing with a elderly person living at the front desk “we are not driving to your doctor’s appointment”, when clearly during our tour we were told transportation to doctor appointments within10 miles were free. Love all of the TV screens showing the activities, but didn’t see any activities going on during our tour. A elder’s family member came out of her Mom’s room and said to our person touring us; that we have been waiting for someone for 15 minutes for help. We did originally come in for a tour on a Sunday, but was told by the front desk, no one was here to show us around, so we had to call for an appointment later in the week. Overall the prices were high ; over $6k, plus levels of care and apartments very small (barely have room to walk around the bed).

I was in NC 2 weeks ago for visit. Since then I have been trying to reach the Director ,[name removed], it has been 10 days and have tried to get a meeting with director. I had a meeting set up while I was there but they cancelled on me 30 minutes before meeting. Since then I have been trying to reach [name removed] re: my Mom and everyday they tell me she is going to call me but she is blowing me off!! I have concerns about a fall my Mom told me she took and paramedics came. I have been ignored for the last 10 days!!! I have to think about the fact that if they wont call me back, how are they treating the clients?? What can I do, I live in MA and am very concerned about the way this is going down!

After living at LBC for over five years, my mother-in-law is asking to move. The care, food, service, and activities at this center has really declined. There have been too many instances when the wrong medicine was administered. CNAs have borrowed medicine from the cart belonging to one resident to give it to another resident because the head nurse forgot to order meds. Staff is so minimal that residents do not get their meds when they are supposed to. Morning meds are administered at lunch and so many people have to wait 30 minutes after they receive their meds to eat. Luckily, the activity director is leaving. She was a big concern and did not treat the residents well. LBC was a wonderful place the first three years our family member was there. She was hoping to live there for many more years but she and her family are completely frustrated and there is no solution unfortunately. To top things off, the rent has recently increased to an amount that seems unreasonable and contacting management seems impossible.

Not enough people working there.... Staff is overworked.... Always shorthanded

i found out they are a bunch of RACISTS there from the NURSE [name removed] to all the WHITE STAFFS they treat you so poorly due to the colour of your skin the MD is like a puppet and doesnt have a say in anything that goes on there i know this because i am an example and most of my colleagues complained about same racists acts as well..

The level of care provided at this facility is decidedly subpar. Frequently care such as transport to meals, medication delivery, help with appointments, etc. are skipped or very late. Many of care givers are rude. Memory unit care is especially bad. Cost is very high relative to comparable facilities. Many billing problems. Food quality has substantially decreased.
