My father is 95 and has dementia. After looking at six facilities, I moved my father up from Florida to the Villas at Holly Brook. The facility is clean and pretty; the apartments are real apartments with comfortable amenities and french doors that lead out onto individual patios. The staff has been helpful and loving to him and has taken responsibility as needed. He has been living there 9 months now and the entire staff, from the director to the CNAs to the kitchen crew, knows who my father is and always greets him by his first name. Everyone treats him like family. As his dementia has increased and he comes closer to the end of his life, the staff remains steadfast and in alignment with my wishes for my father's care. The entire experience has been a huge blessing. I highly recommend Villas of Holly Brook for anyone whose elder needs assisted living.

My mother moved to Merrywood after a house fire, thinking she would 'go home' after her home was repaired. She loved Merrywood and stayed. We were so pleased with everything and everyone. When mother's health declined, we used home health to keep her in her beloved Merrywood apartment. Merrywood answered all our hopes. AND NOW her brother and his wife have moved to Merrywood. Relief that they are safe and secure in this top notch community.

This facility is really nice and it’s in a beautiful location. It’s right on the water and my Mother’s room is actually facing the ocean. The food is delicious and the restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The staff is great and they actually just got a new executive director whose main focus is on resident care. The only reason why I didn’t give them a 5 is they said they had an arrangement with a local country club for the residents to use the pool. When my mom finally moved here, we found out that is not the case. I would recommend this facility to other families.

While looking for a place for my loved one, we have toured facilities in Florida and New York. This location mostly fitted us financially and it was a lot nicer in our eyes. The only complaint that I would give is toward the wait staff & kitchen staff. Sometimes after you order you could sit there for forty five minutes before serving you. There are other times where you will receive your food right away. I think it is just because the place is new and there is a new staff. But you know, people are old and they might get irritated if they have to wait that long for their food. The food itself is good however, it is better than expectations. There is no problem with the portions and the have daily changes to their menu. One side of the menu is set where you can order what you can always get and on the other side they apply the daily changes. There is no issue with their cleanliness. Housekeeping comes in every day to make my loved one’s bed and they give her medication as well. Also they come in once a week to clean the apartments. They have a daily sheet that they print out with a page of activities. They have exercise classes, bridge, and they do various off site events with transportation provided. They have a very nice car that actually took my loved one and me to go shopping off schedule, but they were really nice about it. They also have a beautiful movie theatre and they a different movie every night at 7:00pm. It is not the typical folding chairs; it’s a really nice area with comfortable seating. Overall I am very pleased with this facility. I tell my loved one it’s a like a cruise ship that’s not moving since it’s near the water.

Mom likes it here and the staff is doing a wonderful job. Mom has got involved with more things than I thought she would and that is great. Mom says that she does not like the pasta, but they do have other choices. We think that it is great.

Lovely, fresh feeling facility. Staff forms relationships with residents. Food is good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place for a loved one to reside.

Dad was disoriented his first few days at the Villas; the staff was wonderful in helping him adjust to his new surroundings, keeping us in the loop at all times. Without exception, the staff has been caring, kind, supportive to him (and us). It's a lovely facility with a caring staff.

My mother moved into Brookdale Cumberland on June 6th with the help of many family members and Move Ahead RI - Dan and Beth. She has nearly been there a week and seems to be settling in quite well. My brother has been here visiting from Indiana and has been dining with her for several meals and he can see she is mingling nicely. He was so happy to see that. The residents have been so friendly to her and that makes a huge difference. The staff has been checking on her regularly to make sure she is doing okay and that too makes such a comforting feeling to us all. Kris was so wonderful to deal with in the beginning answering all our questions and Dan (the handy man) came right away to fix a few things that needed fixing) but we have to get him back to hang some pictures, but all in good time. I think are choice was a great one for her, even this morning she just called me to say she was going to the Be Fit class with her friends, so that made me feel so good. She has been very lonely in her condo without her car and we all work, so having people around her all the time will make such a difference, thank you again, we will definitely speak very highly of your facility. My father is 93 and has lived there for 3 years. I had to take away his car keys and sell his house leading up to this move. It was a major crossroad in his life. He is comfortable in his room, a studio apartment. The staff is friendly to him and watch out for him. They contact me promptly if he has any issues. He participates in many activities there: chair yoga, weights, swimming, walking, dining out, entertainment. He seems to know many people there. He is fortunate to be in good physical shape for his age. He uses the nursing services to administer daily medication. It is an expensive add-on but required in his case. I am satisfied with their service. His mood has greatly improved from the social contact. He lived alone before coming to Brookdale and I can see that he is happy being around people. I never hear him complain about anything there, at least not to me. It has been a positive experience and I would recommend it. I would say that the process of accepting this change in life was the most difficult thing for him. He had always been independent and it was an adjustment.

I have been very, very pleased with The Glenwood. I was surprised that they came close to exactly what we needed. They are very caring. The only problem is they are a little short-handed, but I am very pleased.

I think everything is going fine. My Mother is the one that is living there and according to her she is being treated well and loves the place, the staff, and the residents.

Villas of Holly Brook is great place. They are very friendly here and willing to help. Mom doesn't participate in many activities yet but they have plenty to choose from. This facility is very clean. I am really pleased with everything here.

Everyone we came in contact with at the Meadowlands have been wonderful. Very compassionate and understanding of what we were going through. They made every step of the way so much easier to handle. And we have seen nothing but kindness and caring with all of the residents. The place is close, homey, like your family.

I think there could be more activities for people like my mom who are hard of hearing and have difficulty with their vision. They do a lot of activities going on but my mom can't participate in things like movie night, bingo, Wii bowling activities and stuff like that her main complaint is she's bored which I've told her is not really that bad of a complaint. After she was settled in we took her to look at other place and she realized that she liked it here best. The staff is wonderful. They really look after their resident and they get to know them personally. I think it's the best in the area. The residents are all about the same physical ability. The ones that need a little more care (wheelchair bound) are in another wing. They have a lovely courtyard garden area that she walks everyday. She's definitely in the right place.

They are very personable and friendly. They seem like they really care. It is more of a big family feeling than a business. I felt comfortable there. The dining area for the assisted living area is more like a restaurant than a cafeteria. They have a great variety of food. Even the memory care unit has 2 choices for eating. I love that they have a full Mass every Friday. That is important.

It's closer to my house and has fire proof walls, it's more expensive a month but if someone has difficulty walking I would suggest north bay and if your parent or anyone needs rehab I would recommend them because they have rehab on site so they can get rehab and then go back to their apartment.

MY DAD LIVED AT ATRIA MERRYWOOD FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS AND LOVED IT THERE. HE LIVED IN THE INDEPENDENT LIVING AREA AND WAS ABLE TO KEEP HIS BELOVED DOG WITH HIM, WHICH WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM AND TO US. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, ACTIVITIES WERE GREAT AND THEY HAVE TRANSPORTATION TO DOCTORS AND GROCERY STORES - ALSO HAVE ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF THE COMMUNITY LIKE TRIPS TO THE ART MUSEUM AND TO BROADWAY LIGHTS SHOWS IN TOWN. THE STAFF IS VERY GOOD AND CARING AND IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH GENERAL HOUSE KEEPING YOU CAN HIRE ONE OF THE GREAT AGENCIES THEY PARTNER WITH TO HELP OUT ON EVEN A QUARTER HOUR A WEEK IF NEEDED, BUT 1/2 HOUR OR ONE HOUR PER WEEK TO HELP. IT IS A GREAT PLACE. I RECOMMEND IT.

Atria Merrywood is the perfect place for my Mom. Both staff and residents are very friendly and respectful. Her apartment is very generous in size, however there is limited storage. The grounds and the common spaces are beautiful and well maintened. There was some confusion in the begining due to change in staff ( sales force), but was soon corrected.

The staff is polite and has good knowledge of activities, menu and other amenities offered. This home has a nice dinning room, with a menu posted daily. The building design does not flow with each hallway being a dead end, which could be confusing. The court yard has an open concept, not enclosed. An enclosed courtyard gives a more cozy atmosphere. As for an Assisted Living dwelling, the atmosphere smells more like a Nursing Home. Even though this Assisted Living is much closer to my home, I declined renting an apartment.

Overall the staff is great but the house keeping and the pushers have a good turnover rate which makes them in a learning curve. Some residents take up a lot of time also causing delays in pushing other residents. Example residents are getting showers during peak eating times so residents who need pushing are delayed being pushed. It is a beautiful place and well kept and very safe. There are activities if you are interested but they get a low turnout for some unknown reason. The food is ok but sometimes they run out of condiments which they should have. The apartments are on the small size which has limitations on storage. All things considered it is a very good place to live compared to others as they all have problems finding help as it takes a special person to do the job. They do not have a Beauty Shop at this time which is very important to the residents.
