My mom recently needed extra care because she wasn't eating. She was tired of the food and the activities had come to a halt because a few residents had Covid. So I hired ComforCare to come in and make sure she ate. She quickly got better and now she's going to the dining room regularly and the activities have started again. McDowell Village did not help my mom get adjusted to living there. It took her getting ill to get to them to notice her. So our first [dates removed] weren't the best. But she likes it now. My mom needed extra help adjusting like an ambassador or such to take her to the dining room that they said they offer, but according to my mom they didn't follow up on that.

My overall sense has become positive. The settling in was a little difficult, there was some lack of clarity about billing and medications. My loved one had gotten all of her medications through United Healthcare and they wanted it set up through someone else. They were going to distribute the medications, which would've cost a couple hundred dollars. So, there were little hiccups within settling, but once that was addressed I've been happy since.

It's a place to go if you need assisted living

The guy who gave me the tour was fantastic and made the whole experience great. The residents at The Firs seemed like they needed more care and I did not need that, I wanted a place where everyone was independent. The facility was also quite old looking.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. They have a lot of activities for the residents to participate in. They try and keep the residents engaged as much as possible. The community brought a new chef in and the food is getting better for the residents.

The staff is great. They are always friendly and courteous. My Mom is not an easy person to get along with and they seem to be able to put up with a lot of her moods. I have noticed that they have a chronic problem of being understaffed. Recently they raised the rates but I don't feel that my Mom was getting all the services that they were already supposed to be providing on a regular basis. The director is great about addressing any issues that I bring to her attention in a timely manner. The staff is their greatest asset and it helps to relieve some of the stress knowing that they're there 24/7 if my Mom needs help.

They were short handed, the quality of care was good but the quantity was not there. They were not doing their hourly check ups and things like that. This also affected the activities as well because they did not have an activities director. I do think the staff could do a little better with communication with me. I feel that the value for the money was there. Overall I would recommend the facility to others.

Overall good but was a short period of time so keep that in mind on pros and cons. [Name removed] died about 5 weeks after moving in. He really liked the food. His apartment was very nice and the care givers he really liked....the nurses checking on him at night he felt were incredible and very compassionate. There were some transitional challenges....between hospice and Elegance - but not sure who owned what.

The staff members are very friendly but just like everybody else they are understaffed at times and it does tend to show when it comes to the quality of the care services. Our loved one has not been happy with the food and we know other residents feel the same so that is an area of improvement. They do have a lot of activities going on but they just do not have enough people to lead all the activities. We do think the value for the money is really good.

I am told one thing and promised that and then there are times the follow through isn't available. The staff communication with the family is good. The issue I see is the internal communication with the staff isn't always happening to make sure that everyone is on the same page. There is a call button that the residents have, and the staff are to be responding. The staff is supposed to be assisting with dressing and undressing my loved one. This was part of the care plan, and it isn't always followed through. It would be nice to have better follow through from management to the staff to make sure the care plan is being followed.

I had a relative whose parents were there, so I decided to check it out. I liked it. The staff seemed to be very friendly. There were lots of people about and conversations and activities going on. It was a lively environment. They gave a good tour, showed me everything, and answered all of my questions.

This community was great it was just out of our price range for what all my loved one would have needed for assistance. It was more modern and new but I knew it would be out of reach for us.

The layout at The Montera was spread out, with lots of different areas and sections. I found it to be big and confusing, which would have been a problem for my loved one with memory issues. It also seemed they could have used a little more staff because of the size of facility, although I know Covid is a factor in finding help.

We had a very good tour at Estancia del Sol. I liked everything about it, especially how bright, clean, and welcoming the facility was. It was just too far out from where we live.

This community was very pretty but too sterile and did not seem like they were ready for business.

The communication could be improved with the residents, and visiting family and friends. The staff are responsive to friends and family's requests. They recently switched chefs. It would be nice to have the residents be more encouraged to join in on the activities by floor.

This has been a very good experience for me. My apartment is comfortable and a pleasant space. The staff has been kind and always helpful as needed. Extracurricular activities are varied and offer something for just about everyone. There is a sense of friendliness throughout. However, as with many places where food is prepared in large quantities, not all items on the menu suit everyone but here there are alternatives availabl

Homes are nice. Personnel are very kind and helpful. Feel safe and secure in my home.

A nice place to live! Strong points: residents are delightful. They are friendly, inclusive, fun and smart. Staff are always pleasant, kind, and caring and anxious to help. The units are extra large and very nice. Activities are plentiful, interesting. Downside: 1. slow to provide maintenance. 2. Food is marginal and undependable communication by leadership is moderate.
