Manors of the Valley

[name removed] , Admissions Director, deserves special recognition for the perfect blend of professionalism, compassionate understanding, and customer service. The basic structure of the menu is excellent; i.e. large meal is at lunchtime with lighter fare, such as sandwiches, in the evening. However, the quality and taste of the food leaves a lot to be desired. [name removed] is a very private person and he chooses not to participate in any of the activities offered. However, it seems from the monthly calendars provided that there a significant number and variety of activities offered for residents.

Helpful and Friendly staff. The meals need to have lower salt content ie: hot dogs & gravy. Same dishes served on a bi-weekly rotation. Not bad food, but the same dishes.

They have taken my mom to appointments when I was unable. They do her blood work there and the staff is very polite too me always asking if my mom needs anything. They are accommodating when I take her some where also. They also clean her room twice a week and do her laundry.

I would say that they did a great job of acclimating her to the change from her own home to a care facility. I would and have recommended Saucon Manor to friends.

I needed care services. I would recommend to others, depending on what their needs are.

We picked it based on fair treatment of our family prior to administering mom, they had excellent communication throughout her stay and were very accommodating, considering moms declined state, they took away a lot of anxiety from our family, and made us comfortable during moms stay, even helped us live up funeral arrangements, they shared our grief and made it a lot less painful for us . Would highly recommend to anyone looking for placement for a loved one. A Place for Mom and Saucon Valley manor were a beam of sunshine for our family in a dark time.

Overall staff is friendly, care is sufficient. I believe that are understaffed. Concerns are addressed in a timely manner. However it is important that you advocate for your resident. I visit my mother for the most part daily and I feel it makes a difference for n her care.

We picked this community because, it's close to my home and I love that they would take such special care of her. It's been good, some things I'm not crazy about but most of all it's good.

I think there should have been more engaging activities and activities outside of the memory care unit. We picked this community because, the reviews were good. In talking with neighbors of mine who had family there and were pleased with care and also another neighbor was there for a short time and liked it there. Also close to home, about 10-15 minutes drive time. They had the secure memory care unit that we needed. Also the price was good. These are the main reasons.

Saucon Valley Manor provides more assistance with transfers and lifting than many other facilities. They do need more staff though but that is everywhere right now. As far as the food goes, it is not always served hot. So that could use some improvements.

They had the level of care my mother needed and they had a rom available when she was being released fro her rehabilitation - many places had no openings and she wasn't able to return home due to her mobility issues. I would say we have no second thoughts or regrets - very happy with how things are working out. The manager there - [name removed] was very helpful- compared to dealing with Social Security, Medicare, hospitals, rehab, VA - she actually worked with me vs causing me more work.

I would recommend Whitehall Manor to others.

They have a medical alert system however it depends on the staff, they seem to have a lot of turnover. Sometimes it takes them half an hour to an hour to answer a call. They do not know if it is a true emergency or someone asking for something else, there is no other way to communicate with the residents. They do have some wonderful staff who have been here a very long time. It is all aids that are working, no nursing staff -another big issue. No full time nurse, just a doctor on call but he is not in the building. There are not many activities other than bingo. As far as food is concerned, I can only go by what my loved one tells me, but she says it is very unappealing and cold. Basically no vegetables served with meals. Overall there are just some improvements they need to make.

Things are starting to settle down after the big move and merging of the residents which caused confusion. However when we do bring up questions or concerns to the staff they are very cooperative and try their best to accommodate. They also seem to have a lot of activities going on.

To be honest I would highlight the overall conditions especially the living units. My dad is not a social bug so he does not get out and interact. He dislikes the food. Since he is independent he has the ability to cook frozen dinners and he is happy. He does go to breakfast. Maintenance is good and staff is friendly. I like they all get the panic buttons in case they fall. The cleaning staff has been reliable. It is just a shame about the food. I would not discourage anyone from looking into or moving in. The price is amazing compared to the others we looked on your referral list.

It looked okay on the surface but wasn't sure about anything else.

The community is very caring. The administrator has been very attentive to the family's needs. I believe the community is understaffed like other communities nowadays. They are very compassionate when caring for the residents. There have been times my loved one has fallen a few times during their stay here. The community forgot to call me and tell me that my loved one was at the hospital. I found out by getting test results from the hospital. This shouldn't have been happening due to the stage of life my loved one is at. The food is catered in, and it is the typical community food. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.
