Leisure Care, LLC/One Eighty

I am writing this review so your loved ones will hopefully not have to endure what my mom did at Springfield Place. When we were making our decision on where mom should live in independent living, the only information we could find were online reviews like this, what the sales staff told us, and my mom spent a brief stay at the residence. My mom lived at Springfield Place for over five years. She liked her apartment, the grounds and walking trail, the décor of the building, the activities and the mid level staff and residents. She felt like the meals were sometimes good and often marginal. The turnover of chefs was high. There was a norovirus the first year she lived there and several people got sick and all were quarantined. There were three general managers, three sales managers and two nursing managers during her stay at Springfield Place. The mid level employees had longevity and they put their heart and soul into the residents. The worst part was that the nursing manager, [name removed], delayed Hospice in giving pain meds to my mom for three days towards the end of her life. My mom was in such pain because of this that she hit her alert button and the paramedics came on a Sunday morning, just three days before she passed away. My mom was active and enjoyed good health most of the time she lived at Springfield Place. She was denied good care when she needed it the most. I hope you consider our experiences when making your decisions and I hope that this sort of experience never happens to your loved ones.

I still live at Fairwinds, because moving is hard and costly. Large apartments are very nice, but expensive. Food and dining are the main problems that have caused many to move. It is not unusual to wait 30 minutes for seating, and/or 45 minutes for food. Eat at 4PM, and you can get a seat. At 5:30, some better specials are gone. Unlike in a bad restaurant, you will return. Before moving in, eat several dinners, with residents. Ask them, without staff, what they think. Read the rental agreement carefully.

They can't keep a chef or kitchen staff. They've had 4 or 5 in the last year. We've had food cooked with rancid oil. I've thrown away food that smells terrible and I couldn't identify. They use pressed chicken loaf and call it roast chicken and use cubes of it in their soup. The elevator to the 3rd floor is broken again and has been out of order for a week. The last time it was out of order for 2 months. They've promoted the concierge to Manager of the facility. She has no facility management experience.

Be AWARE this place only wants your money! What I walked into was our mom and her room smelled of urine, she had not had a shower in over a week (even though we were paying for this care) and there were at least 10 clothing and bedding items covered in urine (which they are supposed to remove immediately). It was HORRIBLE!! The Administration DOES NOT CARE about their residents or families!!! Our mother moved in at the end of August and was charged for the whole month of August!!! And when her health was rapidly declining, they kept telling us they could add on more care for more and more money, when what our mom needed was more care then an Assisted Living facility could give, but they DID NOT WANT to LOSE the monthly renter!!! Shame on them! And when we did move mom into a nursing facility in the beginning of December, they CHARGED us FOR THE WHOLE MONTH!!! Oh and we had to pay the $1500 one-time move in "community fee"! So for our mother living in this facility for 3 1/2 months we paid $13,573.62!! There was NO COMPASSION from ANY of the ADMINISTRATORS!!!! We wanted mom to stay there as it is a nice facility and we wanted her to be well enough, but she was not, and all we got was a COLD SHOULDER AND A FINAL WITHDRAWL FROM HER ACCOUNT!! If your family member is healthy and can be there for a long time, I say move in. BUT IF THEY ARE NOT DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO BE HONEST WITH YOU AND TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!

The place looks terrific, but is understaffed and disorganized. My mother signed up for the VIP care program, and the facility was totally unable to meet the standards they set. Rather than make an effort to provide the care promised, they were more than happy to put her in a lower level of care. The meals are pretty unsavory, as well. Since April, there that has been a total change in the administration. I think that attributes to their less than stellar performance . Very disappointing, and now looking for another 'home for mom.'

Overall experience I would give it a one. Cleanliness zero. Friendliness it gets a one. Quality of care gets a one that often took too long to get anybody to show up to help everybody was very lazy and many people had a rude or bad attitude. Administrative staff gets a zero. They were so nice until we signed the contract and moved in and then they completely changed. Routinely my mom did not have a ride to dialysis or doctor's appointments after being told it was scheduled. Staff would not address concerns or return phone calls or emails. Absolutely atrocious. For food if there was a negative score it would get a negative 10. It's frozen food there is nothing fresh I wouldn't feed that food to my dog. It's disgusting. My mom had a special diet for kidney patients and they refused to make meals specifically for her. Told me to my face we have a lot of people to feed and we cannot adjust for one person. That is unacceptable. The only activity we participated in was supposed to be a gardening club and my mom showed up and nobody showed up so that gets a zero. Value for the money gets a zero. Over [Amount Removed] a month and it was absolutely horrible every step of the way.

I made the biggest mistake moving my mom here. The care staff are lazy, not trained, don’t respond to residents care needs. They don’t care about people. They are liars and do not document incidents in order to hide from the state. The Health and Wellness Director had her nursing license suspended and enforcement taken against her. Leisure care and Empress are fully aware and continue to employ her. It is public record though. It’s so important to do your due diligence. You can go to any community and ask to see their last survey and any citations. It’s so important to be informed. If I knew of the nursing directors history, I would never have moved my mom there.My mom is a vulnerable adult. This is sickening . Leisure care and Empress Senior Living did and continues to turn a blind eye. Your loved ones are going to continue to suffer with long wait times and inadequate not properly train staff. They are aware and they don’t care. Leisue “care” and Empress should be ashamed. Do better

If you're lucky enough to be reading this, move on to the next community. We moved our mother in October. We could not get her out of there fast enough. [date removed], we got her out. Go to [removed] It's the Nevada department of health. It takes a bit of navigating, but you can read all the violations and allegations. There is a reason they have a D Grade for the past year. The managers and staff are not on the same page. They can change the name all they want, but it's a horribly run care facility. Our mother was injured and it was not reported to us. She lost 9lbs in 3 weeks.

Volante was absolutely horrible I would never send anybody there again. They were actually just bought out by another company who are not making any changes at all we moved my mom out of there food was absolutely horrendous they feed the people horribly they refuse to make any adjustments for dietary restrictions It's all canned and frozen food nothing fresh absolutely disgusting. The carpets I was told when we moved in we're going to be replaced they never were they're disgusting the place smells their stains everywhere it's dirty absolutely horrible administration is terrible to work with that was smile to your face and do nothing It's horrendous and I actually reported them to the state. My mom did not get a shower the first month she was there and her room was not cleaned for the first month she was there I had to complain and threaten them in order to get her apartment cleaned and showers started.

Beware… this is not a five-star facility. It’s like a piece of candy with a pretty wrapper on the outside that is rotten on the inside. The management staff at this facility is toxic, and one is constantly reminded that it functions like a good ‘ol boys club under the GM’s tutelage. If you get on their bad side, they will literally come after you! The GM and manager of AL went so far as to file two false police reports against me in addition to a bogus 911 call - all lies - as they viewed me as a whistleblower! With regards to the assisted living staff, 80% are inadequately trained, many are downright rude, and most spend more time on their phones than with the residents. In my 25 years as I nurse practitioner, I have never encountered such a disconcerting situation. After nine months of dealing with this and watching my mother steadily decline, we rented a private residence for her and set up 24/7 care. She is now thriving and living the life every 94 year old should have :)

My husband had a lot of doctor appts. Mostly at the va hospital which was more than 10 miles away so I had to pick him up and take him. Because when the vehicle they were using worked they said it was too far to take him. I finally got the va to pick him up and bring him back to the facility. Although he was supposed to have therapy 3 times a week there was always an excuse why they could not take him, so he rarely got any.

I would not recommend putting your family here at this community. It's several times I came in to visit my phone, remember and staff were sitting down on their phone. When I would go to management to complain of this issue, they just kind of blow me off and i'm not correcting the behavior. Not soon after I moved my loved one too much more professional/resident vauled community.

Would not recommend Volante due to their deceptive business practices. We signed a contract for an all inclusive pricing and in the first 5 months they violated the terms of our contract and tried to put us on a care package plan that increased our rent by over [removed]k a month. . It was way more than unexpected price increase It was the way they did it by voiding our contract and pressuring us to sign a new contract or move.

Just wanted to let you all know to stay far away from Volante Senior Living. We had an absolute horrible experience! We moved my Dad into Volante Memory Care, and it was the worst experience. Synopsis:*4 falls over 6 day visit*1 fall was reported to Hospice, when wife found him on the bathroom floor and asked that hospice be called, they require all falls to be reported. Volante is covering up falls ,and choosing not to report to Hospice*Volante did not allow Hospice to go in to see their patient* Next shift staff at Volante was unaware that they had a level 3 maximum care new patient in their facility. They did not know he was a fall risk. He was not checked on all morning on Saturday, until wife came in check on him.*Medications were given at incorrect times, and they did not double check that they gave him the correct medicine.* We were told he was getting the maximum level of care, then we found out he would need to pay extra for showers. Overcharged by thousands and gaslighted!

Dad was only there 4 days when he had to go to ER. Peachtree couldn't accept him back but have failed to formally terminate the contract and refund our prorated amount due back. That was almost a month ago. The director will not respond to emails, voicemails or messages. Had to get the Ombudsman involved. Word of advice! Check with your county ombudsman regarding these type facilities to see if they can assist in determining the worthiness of a place for your loved one.

He now had to relocate to [name removed] due to mold again. Several residents had to move to sister facilities for a few weeks in order to get rid of the mold. My family member who suffers from dementia is worst because of him being in Fort Myers. Awful all in all. Pay all this money , his furniture got destroyed because of the mold. No one would have done anything about it ! I am the one who noticed the mold so no one is cleaning rooms or they would if noticed the mold. Lack of communication. No one returns your phone calls. [name removed] is wonderful. No one answers the phone at the front desk. Most frustrating experience

My comment is Volante still owes my mother for all of her belongings that were ruined in her apartment when the pipes burst in [date removed]. And we are still waiting on the insurance check!!

I came home after 1 month and 3 days in hospital nor too happy with the facility. Ended up costing me about [fee removed] I wish I had never been there. I was lied to from signing the contract to talking to company lawyer. I hope they have gotten better. Worst month of my life. I would tell others to make sure and question the sales person first about their promises.

I cannot speak for the independent or assisted living section of this facility. My mom had Alzheimer’s and was in the memory care part of the complex. It’s terrible. A very expensive, locked apartment. The staff are not nurses and yet pass medications without assessing if a person should be taking them. They did not call emergency services until I showed up and found her slumped in a chair and slurring her words. There is one nurse and from our experience she has limited time with the residents. The techs that work mostly with these residents do not have medical training and no experience in how to redirect them, rather the solution seems to be to give them more medication. They could not even provide the dignity to ensure my mom had proper clothes on to eat a meal. This was a terrible experience and I regret ever having my mom stay here. It’s a business. A beautiful building but that’s it.

Just don’t. The staff is so incredibly rude the only person that has been nice since my parent moved in is the lady from the memory care activities, she’s always willing to help. Therapy services are amazing which isn’t shocking since they don’t work for Volante, I’m sure if it was Volante run it would be awful. The new therapy director is so personable and wonderful. The volante/la Orilla staff is rude to me as a family member and guest so I can’t imagine how they are to patients when I’m not around. I’ve seen them yell and yank residents to get them to do things, there’s no dignity or autonomy left for these people. The administrator and nurse are wolves in sheep’s clothing and will lie to your face! Please please please do not consider this place.
