The units were very small and rather pricey.

Very pleasant place, food is good, biggest problem is the on-boarding of father-in-law into new community. A resident ambassador is needed to be a buddy for new residents. Especially, around who to sit with at meals and being invited to activities for at least a month.

One of things that I didn't like about that place is they only had one nurse and none of the other caregivers are CNAs or anything. They wanted my mother-in-law to have a very set schedule for care. Their care price was based on how many times they would have to come to your room. The care was more expensive and on top of that I wasn't assured she was going to get the care she needed. If something were to happen outside of their schedule we were going to have to provide a land line where she could call down to the front desk. That's not going to work. She's paralyzed on the left side and she was left handed. She needs total assistance so to have to make her be on such a schedule wasn't going to work. Everything else about them seemed good. The energy and everything there was really great.

Property looks tired but undergoing renovations now. Very small kitchen. Want you to eat 3 meals in the community.

I talked with Freddie and she was very helpful. Both of us agreed that Fairwinds was too expensive for us. In addition the apartment size was too small for our comfort.

I really enjoyed the outreach coordinator who gave me the tour and answered all my questions. I nicknamed MacKenzie Place "the cruise ship" when describing it to my family; it had all the bells and whistles (comes with a price, but insurance was paying). The rooms are huge. Studio was large too. I dropped in for a visit to see the Yahtzee game hour and found NO ONE in attendance. This swayed me away. I believe MacKenzie Place is better for senior independent living than assisted living.

I found that did not change the pee pad they would put new on top of the old one. Room was decent and can not answer about the food.

Grand Villa of Dunedin was kind of an older facility, and the room was very small.

I love the location of Fairwinds. My apartment is nice and quiet and employees are friendly and helpful. I rated Fairwinds overall 2 1/2 stars because of the dining/food experiences I’ve received. You never know when if you’re going to be waited on in a timely manner or you can wait up to an hour or more for a waiter to take your order. Then you wait for your order to arrive. This is a common problem that happens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lack of staff seems to contribute to this problem. The food is usually okay with daily specials being the same each week. My experience with Housekeeping is good and there is adequate activities offered.

This is first thing noticed about this community, is that the landscaping needs improvements. When we got inside the facility it looked very nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. The marking person was informative and nice. They need to do a better job with the landscaping. The inside of the community is nice, but not the place for us.

My mother has lived in the facility since Sept. and she really likes her apartment, except the shower stall is very compact. She is 92 and wishes there other activities other than bingo. She would like more outings also. The one issue she really has issues with are the meals. I do not know what the answer is, as it is hard to carter to everyone's wishes. I do know that food and good food is all some of these old folks have. I also know that the cost to like here is not inexpensive either. I do want to state I live only 5 mins. from the facility and keep up on what is going on.

I must say the menu and the food are not good and certainly not delicious as stated. We all talk about it to each other but have not told the management. There should be a suggestion box installed for good and bad reviews then the management would know how they are doing. Many of the residents have there own microwaves and refrigerators because they cannot eat the food served. Room cleaning is very limited, never seen any dusting and only vacs middle of floor. 24-hour trained staff under licensed nurse....What does trained mean???

Brookdale Dunedin is friendly and reasonably convenient for me. Two out of twenty-one meals have been very good and enjoyable. There has only been one meal which I declined. I feel that you should provide nutritional information on the meals and alternatives provided. My room is difficult for wheel chair access. The doors open into one another and for one who has difficulty standing unaided washing at the bathroom sink is near impossible. There is no place for a hand grip. Lighting is clearly inadequate. A second floor room for someone unable to climb stairs is unacceptable. I know I quite a few negatives, but all in all the staff is friendly and helpful.

For the monthly cost we are paying they should have a card room so that people can play cards or mah Jong in a room and not in the halls The pool area still is not finished so there is no outdoor sitting area---- this is not great There is poor communication about services that do not happen as planned or promised There should be additional areas for visitors to be with residents other than their apartments Supposedly new owners are updating or changing things What they do remains to be seen. I hope things will improve Most staff are nice and dining is satisfactory to my parents

Clean facility. Makes good first impression, but very disappointing! Not mangaged well. Under staffed; cutting back on services that were promised. People at front desk very pleasant, but only Nicole (director) is able to answer questions or deal with problems. If she isn't there , there is no back up mangagement...or at least that what I was told. Dining room staff barely speak to residents. Took 3 and a half weeks before laundry done and that was with speaking to "management" multiple times and being assured it would be done. Every time I asked , I got a different response. Seems like no communication and coordination between staff. Only planning on staying temporaily , but would not want to be here too long.
