It's a great place for people who need assisted living or a community where they can have their own apartment but it SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED MEMORY CARE.

There was a change in management and most personnel has left or retired. Due to nursing shortage Freeman uses an agency to fill in especially on weekends. We pay additional fee for medication management and have found medication missing .on several occasions The agency nurses cannot identify medication and some nurses don't speak English well. The choices for meals is very limited and not very appealing. The activities are limited. .

My father is in two of the post on residence at Freeman Lake, Facebook page for activities that have taken place in the last few months.  Just an fyi from our experience: Freeman Residents have to pay additional expense for medication administration .  However there is no nurse beyond 11pm to administer the actual medication. In our case we had to hire an outside nurse from 11pm to 8am just to make sure our dad got his meds as prescribed. Freeman said they have a nursing shortage and now hires agency nurses to fill some shifts. The residents depend on their nurse timely medication and often left my father lapsing his meditation.  Now it’s important to know my dad is blind he needed  the nurses to help with his meds.  He had been in pain and his hospice nurse wanted to increase his oxy but there was no actual record of what the freemen nurses had provided the dosage or when it was provided .   We have asked for that many times

I feel if I had found a better facility, she might have lived a longer and happier existence. I would let others know that this is not a good place for people suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia.

My loved one is currently a resident at The Residence at Penniman Hill, but will be moving out soon. Many of the Memory Care residents have already moved out. The staff is lazy and untrained. The housekeeping is the only good aspect. Communication with the family is spotty. The move in process was easy. My suggestion is to remove the Director and reorganize and retrain the staff. I would absolutely not recommend this facility!

This place has gone downhill no activities my parents medication I swear is being stolen this is a life threatening situation The executive director needs to go … shady beyond words and absolutely no empathy

Terrible terrible experience since December 2023 Consistent issues with management and they lose employees left and right they do not care about it loved one it is all about the dollar save yourself and please do not put your loved one here we are happy to have left

False advertising!!! No nursing 24/7 and cannot age your loved one in place!!! You need to pay for private care if you want anything done which is forced by corporate! Spending at least $20 K a month plus. Corporate is fake and does not care and the memory unit is not a true memory unit, be aware!!!

Poor Executive Leadership at Residence. Outrageous fee increases without little or no explanation. Employee turnover is high. Reviews on website are by current employees. Please DO NOT place your loved ones in their care.

My mother recently passed away at Paine Estate in a room that shortly thereafter was deemed uninhabitable by the local Board of Health. Then, six days AFTER she passed away Paine Estate had the audacity to withdraw more than $[removed] from her bank account without authorization. The Acting Executive Director justified raiding the account by saying that they were entitled to collect rent, fees, and expenses for a month after each Resident's death (in effect, it appears, they levy their own death tax)! I am not sure how it's possible to charge a dead person for a room, meals, services, etc. that they obviously cannot utilize. It's too late for us, but please take such conditions and behavior into account when you are considering where your loved ones should live.

My loved one was a resident at The Residence at South Windsor Farms. In Memory Care, the residents are not presented with the extensive meal choices and are only offered 2 specials. My loved one had multiple falls and trips to the ER for them. The staff offered no suggestions to help minimize falls. I was also told that they have a 24 hour nurse, which was not the case during our experience.

One of the primary reasons that one would begin life in an assisted living facility is to be well fed. Sadly, this facility which posts five star accommodations and lifestyle does not offer a decent meal. This is a 1 star food review experience. Sadly, it's substandard food.

Very disappointed. We found mold throughout my mother-in-law's room as we were cleaning it out after she passed. There was a leak months before. They did not even inform us of the leak. We visited a few days later, noticed the odor and the carpet was still very wet. Clearly the water that ran down the walls and soaked the carpet was not cleaned up properly. We could not salvage any of her belongings.

I came on here to share my not so great experience and was going to give some tips on questions to ask if you are considering this facility. However, I started reading the other reviews and became angry as I read responses from the company that were outright untrue. The residents are not all able to ambulate on their own. When I visited I saw hoyer lifts and the sales person told me that they can provide all mechanical lift services for residents and that they have been taking higher acuity residents because that is the population at this time. There are many in wheelchairs who need to be pushed by the aides. i originally called there and spoke to the director of the community [name removed]. She talked about the vibrant, young, active population they have there. I thought i had found my dream place for my Mom. When I stopped in unannounced one day I saw a completely different picture. I saw a very empty community. One activity was happening with 2 residents. Aides were complaining too.

I would tell others looking to not go to their memory care floor, they do not know how to handle the patients. It was a very poor fit for my loved one. They really needed to improve on communication with the family, the nursing staff did not read my loved ones profile.

The community is beautiful, nice spaces, nice apartments. The team was even great, until the false promises caught up to them. My family and I are tired of being led on by the community director and the sales director. They’ve been promising us things for over 6 months now and we’re now finding out these promises were fake, all in the hopes of getting and keeping our reservation.

Selected the Residence at Sunmer Street for my father’s assisted living. In 1 year, they increased his bill by over 50%. Bait & Switch tactics. They promised reasonable us reasonable increases yet here we are thousands more a month vs a year ago. In fact, they said that was what the other guys would do. Well guess what, it’s exactly what the Residence at Summer Street did and continues to do. Then random charges, that we were told were part of the Huge expense were added to the bill (laundry, medicine when he already gets presorted blister packs from pharmacy). Sadly, we wanted a long term care solution but they’ve effectively far exceeded our insurance and are quickly depleting our savings. We’re now searching for a better solution.

Too much money for the lack of care. Couldn’t even take vital signs or temperature. my mom's last final hours they couldn’t even provide comfort care measures even with hospice in place nursing staff leaves at 9 pm at night so loved ones are left with aids so therefore they wanted me to stay and give morphine every 4 hours. I pulled my mom out of there within one hour to get her cc measures. I couldn’t stand to see her suffer. Oh and my mom was eating baby food staff threw down a pb&j sandwich with chips and a cookie really??? They should be out of business

After a hospital stay, they acted like they didn't want my loved one to come back. Also no management stays past 5pm, period. Rooms are size of a shoe box. They are also not good at communicating, which goes to overseeing mother company upper management- attitude galore. My loved one was also being placed- during Meal times- with more advanced, non verbal, swallowing issues patients coughing spitting of food ect. He has the Dementia that makes him aware he's sick- so he was sitting there like this is going to me... no one on his level and they refused to move him.

I wouldn't choose this community, for my parents. It seems to be mostly vacant, there was hardly anyone around when I toured. I didn't have a sales person, I believe they said they were maintenance. It is new and looks good, however not much to do.
