Juniper Communities

There were good things about the facility and also some things that weren't so great. However, my dad's level of care increased while he was there, eventually being too much for this facility. A majority of the staff was very kind and helpful and the facility was clean and bright. For a fully functioning resident, I imagine Juniper would be great. Our parent required extra help and often when we went to visit, it was apparent that no one had checked on him for extended periods of time.

The food is good and ordered by the guest themself in the dinning room. Lots of activitys for the residents to do. But they do not keep her room clean. The nurses all handle her diffently and not with the wishes of the PT or OT people. This dose not help her get stronger. Communication between department are very bad

Weekends can be really rough because of the staff call offs.

Value for money -I wonder. Some of the rules seemed to change quickly once we arrived. For example, she had a pet dog that she was very keen on and within the first month dogs weren't permitted without a large additional fee. Has mentioned in the food above it seemed odd that food allergies had to be done independently, but for the cost of bringing in gluten-free noodles and other items, she seemed happy overall with the food

My mom was essentially assessed incorrectly and shortly after living in Juniper it was decided that she needed to go into memory care. They were happy to accommodate my mom while we needed to make a long-term decision about where we would place my mom. Ultimately Juniper was not the place that we stayed with.

It is a very nice place. The food was not great at first and the service in the dining room at certain tables was very slow. My aunt said sometimes they would be the first ones in and the last ones out because of servers. The tv they pay for is the old kind not HD that has been out for years. They had almost a week with no tv because of repairs. The monthly price is very high for what they are getting. The staff is very nice and I realize the things I consider issues are governed at a much higher level and not by local management.

Started out great then the quality of service/care went way down hill

It was supposed to be a respite for me, my husband's care giver. I had two weeks lined up including our live in aid to accompany him. I got push back about the 2 week stay, then saying they don't really do short term respites. If that's the case then they should not include that in their info. I was charge for the full month plus extra for his aid. The aid felt disrespected by staff and had to look for help. It takes 2 people to care for my husband, hence the full time aid. He ended up going to the ER after 3 nights and was at the hospital for a week. The aid went back to Juniper to sleep. My 2 week trip was cut short and both [name removed] and the aid left that following Sat. He was there from [dates removed] and the aid left [date removed]. We paid $[removed]for the two weeks. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the whole event.

My mom used to reside on the assisted living side of the building. The executive director is all talk and never seems to be present when we have problems. When she does show up, she often blames her inheritance of the building and the lack of support from corporate. The sales manager is condescending and believes everyone is beneath her. There are frequent power struggles among the management, and the front desk staff needs extensive training in hospitality and compassion. The nurse wants to move everyone to memory care because that’s where the building makes money. While there are some good staff members, the executive director is likely to drive everyone away.

Food mostly needs improvement the food staff is wonderful. administration should answer emails but don't got more accomplished with the wonderful front desk staff the the higher ups. Everyone loved the brunch on Sunday but they took that away. Also regarding activities (bingo for example) MIL tried to attend and was told she cant sit here cant sit there so she left very disappointed and never returned some of the residents were very rude all she wanted to do was join. These activities need to be run by staff not the residents

You have to stay on top of the staff for responses. The food service there is great, but the food quality is just not great they should survey the residents to see their response.

Nice facility. Average cost. Communication with staff, average. (OK, here are more characters for review). Moved my aunt from Locust Grove because it closed. Have only been at Juniper Village for less than 1 month. My aunt had a large bruise and hematoma on right wrist. "No call, no information, no return call, hmm." No place to go when visiting my aunt. Have to find some quiet corner to talk. Vomit on bedding and clothing 3 days after she was taken to hospital with virus. We miss Locust grove. Communication from staff is poor at best. We miss Locust Grove.

Make sure you have a clear idea of what the personalized plan is for your loved one and stay visible.

1. Not enough staff 2. My mother died because of poor management of another patient. 2. Physician contracted there not fully competent. 3. No one to manage mental health of patients

Staff friendliness varied widely, including leadership. Facility is nice. I wish they would do more to keep residents physically active , to improve or at least to maintain.

It just seemed understaffed The permanent staff was nice but there were a lot of temps who I really didn't know And they couldn't know my mom They weren't there often. Mom declined immediately and was dead in four months.

It was a good option for my dad because they do not do background checks. My dad has a misdemeanor we are trying to get thrown out but it kept him out of other facilities. I'd have picked another location if I had the choice. I would recommend the assisted living to others but not the memory care. My dad is in memory care.

I'm not sure if I would or would not recommend The Devon. It was very expensive, so I expected a lot better care overall. However, there were many things that I liked about the facility and some of the staff members. If they could make some improvements in the necessary areas, I think it could be a much better experience for people.

For the overall experience, nothing would have made the time good considering the circumstances. Our loved one was there for about 3 weeks and then we had our loved ones removed and put into a hospice care home. None of the was the fault of Juniper, it was just a bad situation. Again it is not Juniper's fault, It was just a terrible time and I was appreciative that Juniper had a place for him and tried to make it work
