Juniper Communities

My dad was only there for 2 months and sadly passed away. New apartment, nice facilities. The food was average for Dad, service in dining room slow. Activities limited due to COVID. Everyone was nice and looked out for my dad. Facility assisted living only. If needs more attention go to a more skilled nursing facility. Also if a person assist any more skilled nursing.

We had a scare and we were really happy with the way that it was handled and the way that we were kept informed the whole time. We were under quarantine and not able to come but they made sure that they kept us updated. There are so many activities and my loved one joins everything.

The staff members have all been very friendly and we like that the community is close to our family so we are able to visit a lot.

During my staff at Juniper Village they were pretty understaffed which resulted in the services I needed help with to take much longer, i would lay in bed longer than what i was comfortable with just because in the mornings they would only have one aid. Also the meals I would eat for lunch and dinner were not consistent at all, what was advertised on the menu and what we received was totally different. The food was lousy, there was only one or two meals I had while I was there that i liked, other that thought i found it annoying and disappointing. Also the portion sizes were not adequate for adults.

So far our loved one has not complained about the meals and dining so we assume it is pretty good. Our loved really enjoys the activities they offer, and we do think the value for cost is right in the middle.

There are communities that are cheaper in the area that provide the same care. But the community is clean, neat and the staff is friendly. The food was really good and I would recommend this community to others if you can afford it.

The care staff is excellent. They are respectful and personable. Management is responsive and manged the pandemic beautifully. Juniper Village provides a good environment for loved ones with medical care needs...and both my mother and our family are glad she is there.

Some of the care takers were out of this world, and some were not. We were dissatisfied with those but extremely satisfied with others. Our loved one did not really enjoy the food they served, but the activities were great. The people in charge of the activities were wonderful, they truly made an effort to come to our loved ones room to visit and encourage her to participate in the activities. If she did not want to participate they would do one on one activities with her. The activities director assistants; were absolutely wonderful.

We've not been able to visit due to Covid, so we're relying on our loved one to let us know what's going on. Our loved one has trouble with the food, often it's not enough, or it's not things in alignment with specific health needs. We have to bring in groceries because they're not feeding our loved one properly. Housekeeping does not keep things cleaned well, and the hallways smell like urine all the time. The residents are very friendly, but some of the nurses aren't. The nurses don't answer the call button quickly. They'll show up eventually, but not when you need them. They haven't been helpful with medication management, monitoring/responding to health issues at night time isn't happening, and every time our loved one goes to the doctor they require a quarantine period. They're still offering some activities, and our loved one really likes playing bingo with friends. We've talked to the director a lot. The director says she'll check on our loved one, whether she does or not we don't know. It's so difficult during this time where we can't visit in person.

This community is small enough to care. Everything about this community is clean and nice. If we have an issue they seem to solve the problem quickly. They have really good communitcation and made sure they kept us updated on covid. I would definitely recommend this community if you can afford it.

The care services were better than average, but I don't have anything to compare it to. It is a personal opinion. I would say that you need to be an active participant in your loved one's care. You need to be there. My mother was there only for a month and during that time I went over every day. I saw residents that would fall asleep in their wheelchairs. This isn't the fault of the community; however, I believe that the blame is on the family. I would tell this to the family, that the loved one is being taken care of, but I would make sure that you are providing additional TLC to make them feel comfortable in their new environment. There are activities included: movies, slid shows, bingo, and the basic activities. There were a lot of people that participated, but my loved one isn't one that was joiner. The food was ok, instuational food. My loved complained about the food, but it is similar to instuational. They were accommodating when the resident didn't liked the food that was served, they would make a grilled cheese or another item for the resident.

We chose Juniper Village at Brookline Senior Living because of the proximity to where I live. My mom's room is a nice size. The food here is good, they have some variety and the food is fairly fresh. My favorite part and my mothers favorite part about the community would be having people around to socialize with and the community atmosphere. I would recommend.

I have told people it is a great place. They have taken care of my mother-in-law, they take her to the dining room. They go in to the room in the middle of the night to take care of her. They have been very respectful of us as a family.

We looked at 3 places and Harbour Assisted Living seemed the least like a nursing home. Also, they offered a really big room VS a smaller room or room you had to share. It seemed more like a community. I have eaten here and the food was not fresh. My sister said some days the food is good and some days it is not depending on who is cooking. my favorite part about this community has been the people here and the atmosphere. My sister is happy so I am happy. I gave them a lower score on cleanliness because I think they need to vacuum more often. I think they need to offer more fresh foods for the residents and food with less salt. They are very understaffed recently, so I think that needs to be addressed. There is one person who is underappreciated, the activities director. She is WONDERFUL. She knows the residents, she has a variety of activities, and she keeps the residents happy. She always goes above and beyond. I would still recommend Harbour Assisted Living.

We would like to thank all of your staff for the great job you are doing at Juniper Village at Forest Hills. We have peace of mind knowing that our Brother is in good hands. The care you provide is truly appreciated.

My Mother has resided at Juniper Village at Forest Hills since November 2019. Since then we have been very pleased with the services provided in all of the departments, especially management and care. The lines of communication are always open, and all of the staff is accessible and responsive. We feel it is a good value and we are very happy that she resides there.

Also a very nice facility. Was impressed with the rooms and decor, and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Didn't see a whole lot going on with the residents and staff, but that could have been affected by the timing of my visit. The only drawback I saw concerned pricing which I thought was somewhat high. Still, this facility is located in Bergan County, so that may explain things a bit. That was the only factor that prevented me from giving Brookdale a 5-star rating.

The community is full of workers expressing care and concern. My loved one is safe and receives good care.

We did tour here. It is beautiful and they seem to do a great job of customized care. The only issue I see is the possible fluctuation of cost for personal care. Lovely facility but on the higher end of costs for the area.

I am very pleased with Devon Senior Living and their memory care unit. They take excellent care of my mother. I agree that sometimes it does smell especially on the weekends. And also there are many stages of dementia and when I first toured locked down dementia units I found them very depressing with people just sitting around doing very little. This was because at the time my mother wasn't ready for those units. Sadly my mother's condition has progressed their memory center is appropriate for her at this time. She did well in the main area for a long time.
