Juniper Communities

Interesting village concept for residents so they don't feel locked in. Well-being of residents is first. 1-6 caregiver to resident ratio. Can age in place - should not have to leave facility to move to anywhere else.

I recommend Juniper Village in Chatham, New Jersey. My mother has been living there for seven months and I have been impressed with the facility and its staff. It is a beautiful facility with elegant, well-appointed public rooms and beautifully kept private suites. Staff vacuums residents' rooms and makes their beds and takes out trash and does laundry. Handymen are available for things like repairs or setting up a TV. Private aides are available through an experienced agency that has been at Juniper for years and who work well with Juniper's own aide staff. (My mother has private aides.) Residents are issued pendants that summon a Juniper aide, so help is only a button-push away. The food is very good and the chef will always prepare an omelette, hamburger, sandwich, etc. to order if the resident doesn't want whatever is on the menu. The dining room staff are friendly and kind and greet all the residents by name. Once when I was having dinner with my mother, a resident ordered steak. When the server brought it, he immediately realized the resident wouldn't be able to manage it (because of paralysis in one hand) and he very quickly and discreetly took the plate and cut it up and brought it back, all with no remarks and no embarrassing the resident. This kindness made a big impression on me. There are numerous and varied activities for residents, including games, lectures, movie nights, cooking, documentaries, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bridge, knitting, singing, concerts, and book club, to name a few. One thing I am very impressed with is how much the staff cares about the residents. They know if a resident hasn't come to the dining hall for a meal, for example--I have seen a nurse asking a resident who is forgetful whether she has eaten, and then gently guiding her to the dining room. The nursing staff is excellent as well. They are quick to address any physical issues the resident has, and they are fantastic about communicating with the family. If my mother asks for a nurse visit, or the nursing staff determines my mother needs blood work or medication, they call me and fill me in. I think that is very important. I would recommend Juniper Village to anyone seeking a safe, warm, caring, and attractive senior facility. (Resident's daughter)

Placing a parent in a facility is an extremely difficult decision. We decided on Wellspring after checking three other places but I could still not bring myself to make a final decision. The executive director suggested that my mother and I have lunch there to gauge her reaction. While she did not realize it was a facility, because it is so home-like; she was very positive about our lunch and the tour. That was 3.5 years ago and I am still so very thankful that there is a place like Wellspring. At each stage of dementia they have something to offer and they are excellent at problem solving and coming up with solutions as the disease progresses. They figure out how to provide her care, what she will eat, and how to keep her occupied and happy. The staff is very well trained. The residents are treated with respect and kindness by everyone and I always feel welcome and part of the family when I visit-- which is often. The activities are fun and the music program with the iPods is a big hit. There is a group singing session everyday around 4 and ice cream socials on Wednesdays. The activity calendar is packed. Dementia is a terrible disease and it is hard to watch a loved one go through it, but the help, care and support and skill-- lots of skill of the Wellspring staff makes it easier. To know that your mom is safe, well cared for, and loved is a great comfort.

My mother has been living at Wellsprings since the end of December 2015, so about half a year. Her dementia had progressed to the point that memory care was advised, and when she arrived she was coming out of rehab for a stroke. Wellsprings has turned out to be a perfect match for her. She is engaged in activities throughout the day so that she is surrounded by friendly staff and other residents. Activities range from singing, art, flower arranging, and movies, to petting companion animals and much more! This has been a great asset for our family since she enjoys activity and companionship and progressively needs help and direction to participate. At Wellsprings, the staff are sure to include her and help direct her attention while also caring for her daily needs. Everyone is trained to work with dementia and so everyone is super aware of the needs and challenges these individuals need in their daily care. On top of that, they are genuinely friendly and loving towards my mother, making her happier and making me (and our family) confident in the care she receives.

My Mom just wasn't able to live alone or with us any longer. Juniper came to her rescue with compassion for not only her, but also myself, as her daughter having to make this difficult decision that I could no longer take care of Mom like she needed. Juniper staff is always there for Mom and myself!

My grandmother has been living at the Juniper Village assistant living community in Williamstown for a few years now. I can not thank them enough for all of the care and attention they provide her with. Since she has moved into the community she has made many friends and the staff encourages her to stay busy throughout her days. I can not imagine a better place for her to be. My grandmother has been a resident at WT for several years. Our family is so pleased with this facility. First, the staff engages her with enthusiasm and kindness. This has helped tremendously as she now participates in all of the wonderful activities and events. Second, she LOVES her private suite and takes pride in having her own place to call home. She raves about "never missing a meal" and always verbalizes how happy she feels there. Personally, when visiting, I find the staff to be very skilled and the facility top notch. Juniper Village at Williamstown is truly a 5 star community. The community is clean, the food is great and the care is wonderful. My mother has been a resident for a little while and I couldn't be happier ( and she is too!). I have very high expectations- all which have been exceeded by the management and care givers at Williamstown! THANK YOU!!!

Our experience with Juniper Village has been a very positive one! The people here are friendly and professional, and the facility itself is very nice! They don't have any sort of lockdown area if your loved one has wandering issues, but for regular assisted living they're an excellent choice!

They are professional helpful and very friendly. They have gone out of there way to help. The executive director and the sales staff have been great

Brookdale is a wonderful place. The day I brought my Dad to visit we were greeted by a gentleman who is an "ambassador", which is a person who lives at the facility. Right away my Dad felt comfortable knowing there was someone he could relate to. The staff is amazingly friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is very good and they have 2 different seatings for lunch and dinner. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is very responsive to any of your needs. I would highly recommend Brookdale for anyone who is considering assisted living.

I am so glad that A Place for Mom helped me in locating Juniper Village. This was a good fit for my mom. She has settled in and she stays busy with the activities offered as well as going to shop. She also signed up to see a play and she enjoys attending church at the community. The building and grounds are well maintained. The food is ok and even though she struggles with eating the wonderful staff are there for her.

Brook was very nice and showed us the facility, which was recently rennovated...painted, new rugs, updated services, etc. They had two rooms available and right now has a great deal for May. The rooms are very neat and clean and the bathrooms brand new and spacious with walk-in tub, bars, and shower bench. Also helpful with the VA information and hospice is available when needed. Staff is visible.

We are beyond thrilled with my Mom care at Juniper Mt Joy. The staff is wonderful and cheerful, which helps all of us when these decisions for more care are being made. Mom is happy and loves the staff. We as a family highly recommend Juniper for your loved ones care, it is a paradise.

My mom lived in this community for 4 years. She recently passed away, sadly. However, I must say, the staff at Juniper were extremely close to her and some even attended her services. She loved every second she spent here.

My mom is 100 1/2 years old, and in the last 5+ years that she has been living at The Inn at Brookline's Juniper Village, her eyesight and hearing have been failing. All the staff, including administration, nursing, activities, kitchen, servers and aides, etc have all been kind, flexible, and supportive. The people make the place!

Loved this place. So warm and welcoming. Anne Zbinden was so very helpful. Unfortunately this was just not going to be a good fit for my Dad. We were sad..Check this place out.

So thankful for this community. My mom lived in Florida and I live in PA. I needed a safe place for my mom to move into that would provide daily activities, main meals, supervision, and love. Juniper has surpassed my expectations. Amazing activities 7 days/week, healthy meals, weekly cleaning (+ over-and-above love from Nancy) it is a place where everybody knows my mom's name. Peace for me!!

Before my husband's move to JV I toured 6 other homes. What set JV at Mt Joy apart was the smiles and eye contact of the staff and the residents. We felt it indicated a happy environment. JV at Mt Joy is a truly pleasant place to live; clean and well-appointed. But most important is the care my husband receives. His needs are anticipated and fulfilled with kindness. His call bell is answered promptly. We are very happy with our choice. Thank you to all the staff at JV at Mt Joy for the excellent care my husband receives.
