I will have to say the management onsite it tops, however the food, food choices, food service, menu and processed high salt foods are terrible. They can not keep a chef and the interim ones are not use to cooking for older adults and they add too much salt. Unfortunately, if this was a manager issue they would solve it, but it is a corporate issues with the COO overseeing food coming from a fast food industry liek KFC so they are feeding seniors with health issues high salt, high sugar and processed foods. Never is the inventory there so the menu says one thing and they get something else. This must be fixed. Otherwise very happy with living area, cleanliness but this is a real issue. I called corporate could not get pass resident help which never returns calls.

Sky Peaks food was the worst food I have ever had. Their regular cook died. I just had some concerns with the food. The facility was clean. There were a lot of residents with Alzheimer's, who were harassing my mom. It just wasn't a good fit for her. The facility is just not what it used to be. I know the food used to be good. The price versus what you get was not good. She is no longer at this facility. She is in a much better one.

People here complain about the food for good reason.

We were paying $4000 a month for about 10 months then they raised the price to $4185 a month which is quite a jump when your barely able to afford keeping a loved one comfortable there at $4000.00. My mother says the food is very salty and a lot of her friends also complain about the food.

Great first impression but afterwards not the food is below standards for a place that is so expensive. And now they want to raise the rent. It's all ready too much. The staff has changed as well. My mom really likes only one a few staff members Nicky is her favorite. She has made some friends for the first time since she moved to nc in 2002 All in all she likes it but too expensive.

Laurie Higgins called me on the Saturday prior to my visit, for confirmation. Upon arrival, the staff couldn't locate her and an employee "Dan", with another colleague gave me a tour. Neither were knew as much as they should regarding the facility. Much was under renovation. AND, the walk from a patient's room to the dining room seemed vey long. They also did not seem to have sufficient medical staff 24/7. Apparently Laurie Higgins is no longer with the organization. Again, I don't think a suitable place for my mother.

Representative was not prepared for our scheduled appointment. The representative quoted a price much higher than what APFM indicated. He also mentioned the Web Services (Like APFM) are should not be trusted, very unprofessional. The facility was ok, but furnishings were dated, worn, and carpet in hallways was dirty and needed vacuuming.

Things did not work out for our loved one at Village Gate. They did not offer the level of care our loved one needed, and she just did not seem happy here.

My 84 year old mother took me on a tour at Peninsula on 7/12/2004. First of all let me note that my mother is cheap although some in our family call her 'thrifty'. She is no longer able to be alone in her beautiful paid off Gig Harbor area waterfront home and has decided to move into an independent living situation. Let me say that the manager greeted us with "Hello ******* ! It is so nice to see you again." I say my mom is cheap as after the first time she visited they kept inviting her to stop by for a "free" lunch or dinner which she did at least 6 times so they knew her. My mom is thrifty so she decided this is where she wanted to move because "I will die from a heart attack within three years anyway." The other two (major) retirement communities will not allow this sort of attitude. They want people to be engaged and as independent as possible. Cottesmore and The Lodge in Gig Harbor are like Macy's or Nordstrom's. Peninsula is like Target or Walmart! Mom can easily afford better but she chose to live with the drugged and unengaged that you can see if you sit back and watch when the residents each their lunch (dinner they call it), A very depressing place!

Hidden Lakes is an amazingly beautiful place. The cottage we lived in was perfect for us. The dining room served excellent food. All the staff were happy and helpful. BUT the reason we moved there was because we were told that they were eligible for Veteran's Affairs benefits. (My husband is a world war 11 veteran). Not only was this untrue. The owners knew it was untrue and told staff how to say "we accept Veteran's benefits". Knowing all the time that they were not eligible for the benefit. We were very sad to leave Hidden Lakes.

I talked to John who I thought was rude and abrupt. I would not place my family their per my interaction with the office.

The food is the biggest issue. They serve a very southern diet, that doesn't sit very well with us here in the northwest. The staff wasn't very engaging, they were more interested in talking to other staff than the residents. There was very little training, from the top down, they just weren't well trained. They were more worried about getting their bonus at the holidays than about taking care of the residents.

I moved out of there almost as quickly as I got in. The management was just a joke. there was so much bureaucracy and politics that I felt like I'd moved in with a dysfunctional family. They basically set me up and lied to me. The minute I got there I got sick and I was sick almost the whole time I was there. The food was horrible. I didn't like the fact that they say they at age 55 and yet most of their people are in there are in their 80s. It's too bad because the facility itself is just beautiful. Maybe I was premature in thinking that a retirement facility was right for me. I was surrounded by people with all walkers, people with bibs and falling asleep with their food. I thought wait a minute, this is not what I signed up for! They didn't tell me that I was going to be dealing with people with Alzheimer's. I thought I was moving into a fairly active retirement community. It's really more of some kind of care facility. I'm so glad I'm out of there.

NO. Visited. Did not like at all. Food was bad. Most residents looked like assisted living and very old. Not a place for active living. Apartments too small and no kitchen.

Very nice place only had kitchenettes. They want a kitchen. Was only independent living. C list

The Kittery Estates community is beautiful to look at and its kept very clean but that is about it. The individual house keeping in our loved ones room is really lacking. They have had staff turnovers, the previous staff team was very friendly, but the new staff team not so much they are almost cold towards the residents. The meals are not that great, our loved ones are having to buy a lot of their meals. Every once in awhile they will bring in live entertainment to sing to the residents which they really enjoy, but they say it feels like their living in a nursing home. The value is extremely high to live there especially since they are not getting all of the amenities and services.

My mother-in-law is at Kittery Estates and we have have received at least eight unsolicited comments regarding how poor the food is, even aside from being delivered cold during the COVID issues. Her room has not been cleaned in 3 weeks and their contract is for once per week, and this has happened several times previously. We understand there is a new manager, but the issue with food transcends the manager's abilities. Something is seriously wrong when so many people are reporting the same thing, despite the manager telling us that he is hearing good things about the food. A private health care worker who sees people in the facility reports that she received four phone calls just yesterday which were all complaints about the food. Covid or no Covid, these elderly folks deserve so much better, especially for what they are paying. My own Mom was at Kittery Estates for several years about five years ago and it was awesome - we used to be a great advertisement for the facility - great food, events, etc. Sadly, we are considering, with several other tenants, moving my mother-in-law to a different place. The food is the biggest issue - and it is, sorry to say, a very big thing when you don't want to eat because "hot" meals are cold, vegetables are served way under-cooked and the main courses are ill-prepared. Some residents either go out for food or shop for their own food.

Staff is very friendly. Super helpful. Facility is very nice. Meals are good and residents were all welcoming
