The housekeeping for the apartments was excellent. The overall cleanliness for the community was less appealing. The meals were delivered at various times and as late as 7 pm. There was supposed to be a delivery schedule and the community did not stick to the schedule.

We chose The Woods at Canco because of the location and they had a semi-stand alone cottage available so she would not be inside the main building. I had a meal up here and the food was not good. The quality needs to be improved and when it was delivered it was cold. It was very hard to make a decision with the pandemic going on, we were not able to see activities, test meals, etc. Overall, if food is high priority for your loved one I would not recommend. If there is anyway you can post the decision until pandemic is over, I would recommend doing that. It is the only way to give it a true test.

The staff is nice and the community is good. I would recommend the community to others and it's about half the price of other communities in the area.

The community was in a nice area, but a little pricey.

When I moved in, the food was absolutely excellent and was one of the reasons that I chose it. People who came to visit even raved about it. They have gone through many different chefs and the food has deteriorated over the courser of the year. The staff is very friendly and pleasant here.

The perception of a great community with lots to do is not true. With covid, we have been isolated and there are not very many activities. I would not recommend this community to others.

The meals themselves would be a three in a half, and with the lock down the meals are being delivered to our rooms. The building itself is old it could use face lift, it is just worn out. The staff is thinly staffed and there are. We are very impressed with the friendliness and they try their best.

as long as you are good on your own you're fine. But if you need any assistance this facility doesn't offer it. there is no one at the community from 7 pm-7 am. If your independent then I would recommend this community.

Our loved one seems fine and happy here at Briarcrest Estates. We locked in his room price when he moved in so it cannot go up so that is nice. Last time I saw him he seemed to be improving mentally and physically. It seems to be an adequate facility.

If you are truly independent then this facility will work. You need to be physically and mentally together to be her. The food is good and they offer a good varity. The room sizes are ok but there are different sizes available.

We chose Montara Meadows because we liked the location and they had a very nice section in the back where your dogs can run and play.The apartment sizes here were good and the facility overall was very nice. I would recommend to others who are looking.

The day to day staff members were great, but the management was the main issue. During the time our loved ones were there, they seemed to change the supervisor position multiple times. We think the pricing was pretty fair for what you got, and the food was decent. The rooms were pretty nice, and the activities were minimal.

Staff has been exceptional. My complaint is with the kitchen. They can't get meals to Residents. In the dining room it's hot! Everything's cool, mushy vegetables. Can't say enough about the staff, living through this crazy time.

Coronavirus has presented many problems. Great location in City, on bus route. Nice city. Unit appears to need more help at present.

The general manager is not the right person for the job. She does not know how to talk to people of age. She never smiles, hardly says hello. Talks down to you. Had to have the last word. That is not what people need who live here. Unfriendly place. I am leaving. Her nickname is [removed].

Sick of mental or inactive people being brought in to live here. I am not a babysitter! The food is loaded with sugar, salt, or fat. The servings are very small (mostly). We eat 3 meals.

My only complaint is the food. The best thing is all the people you meet. Staff is wonderful!!

The food was horrible. If you ever needed a tray brought to you, you would get the leftovers from whatever was there. There was a cleaning lady that would come in and clean and then have to leave, and say she would come back, and never did. My loved one went two weeks without have her room vacuumed. My loved one asked for a vacuum to be able to vacuum her own room. The staff didn't seem to have answers to any of my questions, about my loved one, food, or anything else. My loved one was only in the community for a couple of days out of a specific month, the community made us pay that entire month's fee. I was getting letters letting me know that I had to pay, and then I ended up paying the fee. The problem in the letter was that they were talking legal action.

I would tell my friends, that it is a one of kind. The concept is excellent for the independent care. I feel this has gone downhill due to the management team. There has been a new manager over the retirement community. All meals are provided and were delivered to the room of the residents. Overall they aren’t cleaning the rooms and they should be cleaning every week per the contract. I feel they could be doing more activities. There are getting the residents together for bingo and snacks due to COVID. I called the home office, and things have improved slightly.

The activities are able to participate in activities again. The restrictions by COVID guidelines limits it to 10 people in a room. I would encourage people to come and look at Maple Downs. The community features ponds and woods. I have nothing to compare this to, due to COVID.
