Do not recommend

If you go on weekends you will not find any nurses only teens there to care for all the patients been there saw it myself then once they had problems with a patient, when hospice got there there was no one in site had to search for an employee then the patient was locked in the room !!! Too expensive to have to provide such a long list of supplies also extra for hair cuts etc just ab all snacks were gone from a patients room found out several had seen employees getting them !! Not to mention the number of items that came up missing !! Someone is making some money on the side apparently bc bill from one month to the next was $500 difference !! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE people need to be able to go check on loved ones at any time to keep eye on what goes on just beware bf you sign up anywhere

Breakfast is served very early between 6-6:30 AM and Supper is served at 3:30 PM. The people who live there complain about having to eat early and getting hungry before bedtime and having to wait from 6:30 to noon to eat again. Only activities is Bingo. They use to go on outings and have more activities. They only have bingo about 3 times a week. They have a bus but never take people anywhere and use to have singings but dont' have any activities. The picture of them having act. on website isn't from this facility. I have tried to find out who owns this facility and my family member doesn't want me to call the owners but when I visit all I hear is complaints about time they eat and only get very little food for Supper. Sandwich chips or soup or something very light and thy at at 3:30 PM They don't have a variety of food chicken is served constantly. I wished I knew who owned the company and how to get in touch with them. Since no one will tell me I guess I can get in touch with someone above the owners to find out what time meals are suppose to be served and if they are not suppose to have activities and if they are not suppose to get a well balance meal at supper.

Not the level of care we had been led to believe.

My Aunt needed more assistance than Country Cottages was able to provide. They should not have accepted her knowing there was not adequate staff to tend to her needs. As you consider Country Cottages, please be sure to ask about night staffing, or the lack of. I would only recommend this facility for those who need just minimal assistance.

The residents seem starved for interaction and attention.

My wife visits 3 or 4 times a week for lunch and dinners, the food is horrible. Sometimes you can't recognize what it is. The support staff doesn't seem to like their jobs, with the exception of one or two employees. On one visit I saw 5 employees in a lounge watching a video, one person was sleeping. When I asked about the soap opera they were watching I was informed by a friendly staff member that it was a training video. When they emerged from the lounge area they had their arms crossed across their chests. If their frowns had gotten any worse they would have been stepping on their bottom lips. This industry has high turnover and you can tell when someone does not like their job. If your employees aren't happy it will trickle down to the people who are paying to live there. The residents seem starved for interaction and attention. There are two scheduled trips a week, Tuesdays for shopping and Fridays for a meal. The van that transport the residents has been either in need of repair or the driver was sick and so 3 trips have been cancelled. Maybe I'm too picky but there is a lack of happiness because the majority of the staff is unhappy to be there, there is very little interaction between the staff and their residents. There is no hobby or craft room for residents. We've also have had some trouble understanding extra charges that we hope to work out with the Country Cottage. It can be hard to get ahold of someone in the office. We've had to request the staff retrieve our loved one for outings, and hope that becomes policy. The residents need to be reached out to and reminded about activities and outings. When you walk in, I hate to use this word but it's "dead." No one is ever outside walking around, there are grounds but from what I've seen it seems the staff prefers residents to stay in their rooms. It takes a trained individual to be able to assess the residents' needs and if new hires can sleep through training videos without repercussions it just doesn't even look right. If something we requested was not taken care of it seems the blame is passed rather than the issue being resolved.

Do not meet expectations.

Seabrook Pointe might be an excellent facility for assisted living but they fall short in memory care. Mom was there for 2 weeks. Mom has dementia and they didn't have the trained staff to redirect behavior. The sent mom to a hospital 1 1/2 hours away on a Sunday to a behavioral unit. The unit didn't have a bed and I was told I could let mom stay in the ED until a bed opened up. One, I'm not going to let my mom stay in an ED longer than necessary. Two, we ask them not to transport mom anywhere that we were on our way. Three, no one in administration reached out to us. I had to show up to get answers. Four, No one could give us a straight answer on what took place. We were told she threw a plate to she shoved a plate. I had to pay for additional medication because the facility had miss placed her medication (90 supply). I ask upon her admittance into the facility... did I need to bring her medicine earlier... did I need to sign something stating how much medicine was brought to them. The answer was "no". They need to work on procedures on admittance and check list. I would not recommend Seabrook Pointe for memory care.

Horrible

This place is not fit for my dogs. The whole website is bogus. They don't do activities with the memory residents and they don't feed them either. My 2 year old eats more than what they provide. It always smells and stick to the floor. They don't assist in anything. But they will tell you need to have a 24 hour sitter to come in with your loved ones. Exactly what are we paying you for then. I definitely won't ever recommend this place ever.

Buyer Beware: Do your research before making a choice for your loved one's care

My mother was a resident at Country Cottage Huntsville.. What I would tell other families looking into this facility is that it is understaffed and the staff that they do have is woefully undertrained. Most (though not all) of the staff act as if they are doing the residents a favor by being there as opposed to showing any kind of caring or at least treating the residents professionally. The meals are awful and not adequately nutritious. An example of one dinner that my mother had while here was a hot dog on a cold bun with Ruffles potato chips. I would absolutely NOT recommend this facility, but would encourage anyone looking for a safe, caring environment for their loved one to steer clear of this place completely.

The Blake is a nice place for loved ones who can full function on their own, but not for those with medical issues.

Before moving our loved one in, we spoke with the director to discuss their health issues. Our loved one has Parkinson's which caused them to shake and fall. They assured us that would not be a problem and that they would be able to handle it, that however was not the case. On top of the care services we had to pay, they told us we needed to hire a 24 care taker for our loved one. At one point our loved one had to go to the hospital, once they were discharged The Blake would not accept our loved one back unless we hired a 24 hour care taker.

Blake Contributed To The Death of My Father

I would tell others not to go here. My loved one was here, and the community is fairly new. The price was about the same as other communities in the area. There is a entry fee for the community, and they worked out a less amount of money than original quoted. The community agreed to a specific amount of money for the first month. After being there for a couple of weeks my loved one looked ill. I called the community immediately after the visit. After three days the community called and let us know that our loved one needed to go to the hospital. The doctors let me know that my loved one was very dehydrated. The community was only taking the food and drinks into my loved one's room, and wasn't paying attention to what my loved one was eating or drinking. The doctor said my loved one died of dehydration and not COVID, even though he tested positive. My loved one died the following day of the beginning of the month, and wouldn't give any of our money back. I've run into other people that have the same things to say about The Blake.

Disappointed and heart broken

I had issues with the director, she did not address any of my issues and did not get back to me. Once the contract was signed they did not want to deal with us. I filled my mom's pillboxes. I let them know when my mom needed more medications and they did not order them in a timely manner. My mom fell and no one on the staff heard her cry out for help, after 20-30 minutes a visitor had to alert the staff. She came back on hospice, she lost 15 pounds in two months, they were not making sure she was cared for. They were understaffed to care for the residents.

Negative

My mom was there for 7 years. It was good at first, but gradually the services began to decline. The food became poor, the employees quit interacting with the residents... no games, just nothing. The employees got down to two who responsible for taking care of residents, food service, cleaning , etc. at least 75% of my moms belongings were stolen. She fell several times due to negligent care. When we left, we were charged over $300 even though our contract said no charge would be declared fir painting. There were many others negative occurrences. Do not use this facility. They used temps fir the weekends who spent most of their time sleeping, talking on the phone or smoking on the back porch

Would not recommend to anybody

The management there was awful, and they constantly harassed our loved one. He had a collection of $2 bills and it was stolen. When we confronted the management about it, less the half the amount of money was returned to us. Our loved ones room was extremely dirty, and the bed was not set up correctly so our loved one would fall out of it. To us it looked broken. They did not attend to our loved ones need or give the proper care. They would send our loved one to the emergency room every single week, and the doctor each time would call saying he is not sure why our loved one is there. It was a terrible experience.

Poor care received at The Blake.

Review of The Blake at Malbis, Memory Care Unit. Unfortunately the terrible experience we had with this facility warrants my remarks. My mother was a Memory Care resident for 2 months 25 days, before we removed her from this facility. Once home she was examined by our physician along with labs received from the Blake. She had lost approximately 20 lbs, was poorly nourished (per lab work), had a large pressure ulcer on hip (never reported by staff), cellulitis in lower extremity (never reported by staff or wasn’t being treated). She walked in on admission and was wheelchair bound upon leaving, mind you in 2 months and 25 days. This is the SHORT LIST of issues we had with this facility. Don’t be fooled by the “nice facility or friendly staff”. My mother was neglected physically and medically. I am not just a disgruntled daughter. I worked in critical care for years. I served as a nurse manager of a critical care unit and nurse manager of an outpatient cardiology clinic....I know poor care when I see it!!!
