Very disappointing for our parent. Poor response times for toileting and other services. They were happy to accept exhorbitant monthly fees so long as our parent was relatively easy for them to care for. Once a bit more involved, they immediately demanded their departure and attempted to transfer ghdm without notification to our parent or our family as to the date and time so that we could be involved in such a traumatic and involved event for our parent. Even worse, they did not transfer all of the belongings and had the nerve to discard some of it. Needless to say, they did not respond to email inquiries once our parent had left. Our parent was simply a commodity to them in our eyes. The facility manager communicates at her convenience and desire, not the family's. It's really a shame.

Not at all happy with medical care NOT an assisted living facility; do not check residents for toiletting, do not have a handle on those that require oxygen residents tanks constantly empy unable to resident out for the day because of NO oxygen. If I had to do over I'd think twice and go elsewhere!

The state needs to check this facility Especially at night that patients are cared for and supervised by staff . Very poor care to a dying resident . No one checked on bedbound resident for over 6 hours during the day . Medications ordered as needed but no checks by Med techs .A Bedsore from incontinence . If dying patients are Inappropriate for this facility , they need moved .

Please dont put your loved one there. Rooms are filthy never cleaned. Facility mainly run by aides that sit on their phones . Residents get very little help . I spoke with several residents that are very unhappy and wish they never came there. Heat and air in room does not function properly. Executive director unfriendly to visitors . The only bright spot is susan in activities and a friendly hairdresser. They play cards and bingo . Have musician visit . If resident calls for help it takes 20 to 30 min and then are ask “what do you want”. A sad place for elderly .

don't like "money hungry attitude." I understand that this is a business, but I really felt like I was at a used car lot and all the "saleswoman" cared about was getting me to put down money without any time to consider other options.

Remove my husband who was there over 1 year. Very poor care. Staff seems very unskilled and do not properly cared for patients.

My parent had been at heritage green, but after a short while, we soon realized this was NOT the place it was made out to be. The turnover is absolutely ridiculous from management staff on down. The care staff is very inconsistent and would rather be on their phone than take care of the residents. The activities- NON- EXISTENT!! We stayed longer than we should, thinking it would get better, but it never did, it only had gotten worse. The nurse manager on the assisted living side, IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. The Administrator sits in her office and rarely comes out unless it's for a photo op. It is staged and not at all what was told to us. They will tell half truths to get you in the door. I was greatly frustrated when I had care related concerns and it fell flat with the nurse manager. She was rude to me on several occasions. She also would not return phone calls, ever. Then, we decided to reach out to the Administrator, or as she calls herself "Executive Director" let me just say to save your precious breath. I would be there visiting, asking to meet with her and it was nearly impossible, you would think you were trying to get an appt with the queen. Eventually, we decided to move our parent out and find different placement. We have been very happy since we left, as it has been a little while now. However, I still keep in touch with other families that still have loved ones there and they state they are experiencing the same things still.. I can say for me, I sleep better at night now since we left heritage green and so does our parent.

Well my mother is working on her 3rd hospital admission. They messed up her medications again. However, in reality they have medication technicians administering medications instead of nurses. In researching other communities locally others facilities have nurse supervisors on each shift. Once our mother is stable we'll be seeking other arrangements. Activities seem to occur during the day only not so much in the evening. Barely dementia specific. My suggestion for anyone seeking this community in particular would be if your loved one is self efficient move them in by all means if they have care needs and medication management this isn't the facility for you.

We also toured this facility, 2 years ago, and decided it was perfect! However, once my mother-in-law was settled, things weren't as represented. There have been too many instances to list of violations of her rights. I would certainly continue looking.

This was the worse experience we have ever experienced. There were ants crawling on the dining table and countertops. There was only one staff member for 12-14 residents. The residents would be calling out for help, and the staff wouldn't respond. My loved one spent more time in the hospital than in the community. I ended up calling the state on the community due to the things I had seen in the community. The memory care unit would blow off our calls and concerns. The administrator would not return our voicemails that we left, and then when we saw the administrator in person wanted us to leave another message as they were too busy to speak to us for a few minutes.

My family did not have a positive experience with Heritage Green in Mechanicsville. My advice would be to read the employee reviews on Indeed. Being understaffed, getting medications on time was a problem.

Mother has been a resident here over 1 year. Many issues with Meds. I review pharmacy orders and Mother's Medical Activity Report monthly and have found several discrepancies. Even with that, I have no assurance that the meds that are marked off as administered actually are. Doctor's orders for changes are either missed or ignored. I feel staff training is inadequate. Mother had an indwelling catheter after a stay in rehab. Twice within the week that she had it, I found it neatly taped in place, but with the tubing coming up out of the waistband of her slacks and the collection bag sitting on her lap. Often towels are removed from rooms and not replaced for hours. I have had to frequently complain about the cleanliness of her room. There has been a frequent turnover of administrators and staff. Staff was supposedly doubled last summer due to a requirement from the state because Senior Commons was operating on a Provisional License from the state. (Their license has recently been reinstated to full operating status). Adminsitrators have the same excuses for every issue brought to them - either they weren't there when that happened and they have a plan for change, or "we will reeducate staff." How many times is "reeducating" staff required to get them to comply?! During dayshift, residents are "encouraged" to go to a med room for administration of meds. If you are considering this community for a loved one, I HIGHLY recommend you spend a lot of time there, and keep your eyes wide open! Read the violations reported during state inspections- can be found on the PA DHS website and also in a notebook in the lobby of Sr Commons. Reviews from people who merely visit or tour the community, while well intentioned, do not paint an accurate picture. On a positive note, I have never heard any of the staff be unkind to the residents. Sadly, the once good reputation of Sr Commons has been soiled.

Don’t even consider. They may seem like they care but do not. We have had the worst experience here. Our mom fell and was taken to Er. No one received a phone call! Thank god she was ok. If she wasn’t she would have died alone in the ER because of no phone call! Please check out Rockhill instead or Souderton Mennonite or Frederick Living.

Do not put your parents here! All they want is your money. They don’t care otherwise. The management has no clue how to run a place. All I get are excuses after excuses. Very poorly run place with inexperienced staff. They put on a great dog and pony show for open house! Then next day it’s empty. Residents wait hours until call bell is answered. ! Unacceptable. There is never anyone around, short staff, residents wandering around not knowing where they are etc. just horrible. Please go someone else. Your loved one will melt away to nothing in here.

The Birches of Newtown give a great sales pitch for the memory care unit! Was very excited to place my parent there only to be completely disappointed! The night staff has a lot to be desired! Patients are not secure, engaged and the stafff sits more than they work! You pay for extra services that are not provided! The TV room has no real furniture like the independent side! Why? Don't the memory care unit deserve a nice place to enjoy television? No tablecloths on the memory care dining tables ever and that kitchen area not maintained in a clean manner! If your parent is in the middle range of function there's no place for them in that program! Lots of deception so don't be fooled by the great sales talk of your tour! They are masterful in that area! PLEASE BEWARE!!!

Would not recommend for dementia patients, the staff on the dementia floor do not seem to be trained and there are no real nurses, just aides who handle the whole floor.
