I would tell them unless their parent is in good health and able to use all the amenities it's not worth it. It is for someone who wants to be in a closed community.

Independent living is fine, a little pricey considering the food is not good, but mom's apartment is nice and she has made some friends. But she will never stay there beyond independent living.

My loved one was previously a resident at Manor At Market Square and overall, the experience was okay. The facility was really improving when they hired a Director for the Memory Care Unit. My loved one enjoyed the activities. The housekeeping was good. The meals needed improvement - for example - cold dry meatloaf is terrible for seniors and while the menu said they could have options - they were never offered to residents when they did not like the main dinner. There were never any condiments. Not even salt and pepper. The staff was friendly and I loved the Director.

I would not recommend The Birches at Newtown for a family member that has a high level of care needs with regards to ADLs. My mother came in at level 4 and they were not staffed well enough to meet her needs timely. The food was good. The activities were okay. I didn't see any outings offsite, as advertised, in 2 months there. Housekeeping was fine. Not a good fit for Assisted Living with high level of mental faculties. My mom found it hard to connect with most of the other residents.

We did not like Heritage Green for a coupe of reasons. It was not as clean as the other places, including a wheelchair sitting outside in the rain. Were were told that we could take pictures of the residents and "they wouldn't mind", this seems very rude and dismissive of client rights to me. There was a plate of food sitting on a table in the dining room (after lunch), we asked about it and was told the person probably had an appointment and would eat it later.

My parents became residents at the villas in [date removed] after my father experienced a stroke. The challenges of Covid were understandable and service was not up to our expectations. It is now late 2022 and since this facility was bought out by a large national company I have to say service has gotten even worse. My father is in a level care situation and My mother shares a unit with him. There are times when they leave my father in the bathroom for well over an hour before coming back to help him. In my mind this is nothing short of elder abuse.. We have communicated to management in the past and it seems to get better in the short term but always slips back to worse than before. My recommendation is to stay away from this facility. They clearly do not have the assets or resources to effectively staff and manage. I am now faced with a hard choice of relocating my parents at age 95 and 100.

PROS -The staff is friendly and always up for a chat. - [name removed], the activities director is lovely and keeps the residents active and engaged in fun activities. - the facility provides real time and up to date information about vaccines, and other medically important information that pertaining to the community CONS - the apartments/rooms are very small. Insanely so. -I wish they had apartments that were designated for couples with differing abilities/mobility issues - the food is pretty terrible, but it is nutritious, which is a plus. The food is also very bland and sometimes not visually appetizing. - the main errand driver leaves at 3p which doesn't allow residents to schedule any trips or medical appointments after 3pm -it is very expensive to live there and I don't think you really get the most for how much you pay

We toured with Keystone Villa at Douglasville and I got the feeling of a business corporation rather that it being personal. The staff were all extremely friendly and they were great with their follow-up afterwards. I do also know that they take combative residents which is good to know.
When loved ones are diabetic they need to have a diabetic menu to where it has those restriction's - so they could work to really improve the meal service and options

I think they are about in the same league as other communities. I think they handled the COVID that sprung up a couple months ago well. It is my impression that they have a lot of new people staff members coming into the community to help care for the residents. There have had several key director positions that have turned over, and there is no communication from the community about these changes. The family has to ask the front desk, instead of hearing it from the community directly. I am hopeful that the new key positions will last to give some continuity to the community.

We initially really liked The Crossings, but when we went to sign papers they told us that children were not allowed to come visit. I wanted my daughter to be able to see her grandpa, so that was an immediate turn off for us.

This community felt dark and dingy and not the place I wanted for my loved one. It just felt like an older community. The tour was great and the community followed up and gave me all of the information that I needed.

Ours was a short stay before my loved one passed away. They had told her when she was going into the facility that she could bring her television and recliner, but when we moved her, there was no room for either one, so she was without a TV the whole three weeks she was there. The staff were just okay. There were things they didn't know how to do, like transfer her onto the toilet, that I think they should have known. She didn't like the food. But they were good with activities.

Our family had an in person tour, and the community was nice but they were selling it more of like independent living. So they would tell us for our loved ones medication, they would lock it in a cabinet in their room and prompt them to remember taking the medicine themselves instead of being reminded constantly. Also they were having us look at a room on the 3rd floor, and with our loved one needing a walker we did not want them having to reply on the elevators.

It was older community. It didn't have the medical staff that the other community had. The apartments were very different, and much smaller.

It is a very small place, and there is no place within there to stay if you improve and don't need their care services. That made it too expensive to stay for what we needed. The care we received was all up and down, very erratic. Some days it was good, and some days it wasn't. In the dining room, some days you could go in and get service right away, and other days you'd have to wait a half an hour to eat. The staff was fine, very friendly and accommodating. It was the upper management that was lacking. There was no overall manager over the medical staff. So the nurse on duty was the one that was running the place and was overloaded and couldn't handle it all. There would be some days we would get what we asked for, and other days we would have to go track her down to find out what was going on.
