I really liked it here. The size of the rooms was larger than most I had seen or visited. I didn’t know if I wanted to put my loved one in the city, but I felt like it would have been a nice facility for him. This was my favorite of all the ones I visited in the area. We ended up keeping him in his home state instead of moving him here to Pennsylvania.

A Hidden Treasure in Berks County

If you are looking for a place for a loved one take time to tour Chesntut Knoll. Our Mom has been in their Memory Care for three years and is thriving. The facility itself is clean, bright and layed out beautifully. The activities that the staff plan for the residents keep them engaged throughout the entire day and evening and also take them on off site trips which they love. I cannot say enough about all of the staff and management. The staff is like a family. They will know your loved one as an individual and all of your family as well. They love what they do. They communicate quickly and professionally. There was no greater example than during this last year of COVID. We knew our mom was safe and happy and peace of mind is what family needs most. If you are struggling to make a move with a loved one with memory issues, take time to visit Chestnut Knoll. Its a hard step to make but one you will not regret. Kim Christman

We were really impressed with the community, and the director as well. They showed us quite a lot on the tour, and explained everything well. The location was favorable to where we live. Our only issue came down to personal preference - we just found them too big, without the cozy/homey feel we were looking for.

Good place for mom

We chose Keystone Villa because it seemed that we would get the most for the price. She was able to get a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. They do send newsletters and do phone calls so they are good with communication. We just got to the point where we are able to finally visit her in her apartment. It has been a good experience and I would recommend to others looking.

Completely satisfied

We were very pleased with our experience with Traditions of Hanover. We chose this facility because of the sense of community and the friendliness of the staff members. They were very good with communication to both my mother in law and to us. When she needed to transition to hospice, they were extremely helpful and caring throughout that process. I would absolutely recommend them.

A great place!

Are you looking for a friendly place with a family-like atmosphere for yourself or a loved one? If so, Chestnut Knoll is the perfect choice. Residents are well cared for and treated like family. The staff are caring, kind, compassionate folks. My aunt has been a resident for 3 years. I am so thankful she's at this safe amazing place. The facility is welcoming and very clean. The food is delicious. Great care is taken in both selection and preparation of each meal. The activities are varied and fun. So much effort is put into making sure everyone is involved and entertained. The Fox Therapy team, an exceptional part of what Chestnut Knoll has to offer, does remarkable work with the residents.

Chestnut Knoll deserves your serious consideration

My wife suffered for many years with dementia and as her primary care giver I needed a respite. Chestnut Knoll was accommodating to my needs as far as duration rather than a 30 day minimum stay. From initial contact, to the care my wife received during the respite, I was convinced Chestnut Knoll would be where she should be when I could no longer care for her. She was admitted in [date removed] and the long term care admission process was handled efficiently and professionally. The entire staff from management to nursing to support are all professional, seriously caring people. The premises and accommodations are impeccably well maintained and clean. As my wife’s condition worsened, it was necessary to move her to Chestnut Knoll’s Hospice unit and again, the care, dignity, and compassion both she and I received during this difficult time was above and beyond expectations. I would highly recommend considering Chestnut Knoll in Boyertown for personal care, memory care and hospice care.

Grateful for the care my mother received!

In [date removed] my father passed away while both parents were living in NC. Knowing Mom would have to now live near a child, she chose to live near me. I gave her a year after my father passed to make the move not wanting to uproot her so soon after his death. I talked to marketing at a couple of places and got floor plans for her and she choose Senior Commons at Powder Mill. She had wanted to live in independent living in a two-bedroom apartment. In August she fell and we decided it would be best for her to move more quickly and not spend a winter alone in NC. What was available for her at the time was a two-room suite in assisted living. We took it and prior to her even going into the suite, my husband and I got her furniture situated so when she walked in, it looked like home. She was so comfortable there that she never went over to independent living. In the 7+ years that she was at Senior Commons, she was treated with respect and care. She never had an unkind word to say about any of the staff. The only complaint she had when she first arrived was there was too much salt in the food, and after a town hall meeting where it was brought up by several residents, that was rectified. As my mother was nearing end of life, I feel like the staff took me under their wing to make sure that both of us were comfortable. It was a difficult time and they helped me get through it. They became family. This year has been difficult for all. I can’t imagine what they have gone through, including employee turnover, COVID with the residents as well as staff, ability to care for everyone the way they would like. But through all the years and especially this one, the right decision was made for Mom to live out her life at Senior Commons. And I thank them for the care they have shown.

Review of Traditions of Lansdale

The staff at Traditions are doing an outstanding job at keeping my uncle adjusted to his new living circumstances. Not only are they concerned about his physical wellbeing but they have an engaging way of interacting with them, dealing with his current state of dementia, reassuring him, and keeping us in contact. In addition, the administrators, especially [name removed] have done much to guide my family, given us needed professional answers to questions that have challenged us in dealing with a new and difficult situation.

Finally found the perfect place for Mom

Even before our Mom contracted Covid-19, our family was searching for an assisted living facility that was first and foremost safe and comfortable, and that fell within our budget. The Birches at Harleysville fulfilled all our needs. The staff was excellent in every respect, and helped and guided our family through the entire process. The Marketing Director and Executive Director were especially helpful and went out of their way to answer all our questions. After Mom moved in, the Maintenance Director has been a Godsend by helping Mom arrange her apartment and setting everything up just the way she likes it. There's always going to be a few bumps in the road when relocating a loved one, but the personnel at Birches have helped smooth them out and have been an answer to our prayers.

My husband’s stay at The Birches

My first encounter with anyone at The Birches was with [name removed] who called me on her way to work to tell me what The Birches had to offer in the way of memory care for my husband. I was touched by her compassion and impressed with her knowledge of the care he might need and her passion to help him. My family and I already had decided we needed to place him somewhere for full time care. It was just a matter of where. My daughter, a granddaughter, and I got an immediate meeting with [name removed] and other staff members and decided to have him brought to The Birches. I knew he was in a safe, secure place with people who would care for him. [name removed] periodically took the time to check in on him and let me know how he was doing. I felt confident with his placement and appreciated how often The Birches staff reached out to me regarding my husband’s well being. Having to place a loved one in a facility is difficult. [name removed] and the other folks at The Birches made it as easy and uncomplicated as it could be. My family and I are so grateful for that.

Traditions of Lansdale

I am writing to thank A Place for Mom staff for bringing to my attention and providing information about the Traditions of Lansdale facility located in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. A Place for Mom was very helpful in speaking with myself and my wife when we considered places for my Mom to receive care. Thanks to A Place for Mom, we were able to consider the Traditions of Lansdale facility as a place where Mom might receive the care she needs. I would also like to thank the entire Traditions of Landale staff for the loving and dedicated care given to Mom every day during her stay at Traditions of Lansdale. The entire staff at Traditions are very professional, easy to work with, and very attentive to Mom's every need. Any questions we have about Mom's care are addressed promptly by the appropriate staff member. The facility is clean, the quality of food is very good, and Mom's room is very comfortable and inviting. Special requests concerning food are easily handled by the staff. I am impressed by the medical staff who accurately and carefully dispense and administer Mom's medications and can instantly review Mom's medication history at Traditions from data on-board the computer that travels with the medical cart. Everyone at Traditions communicates well with Mom and our family to insure Mom has a positive experience. We have found the entire staff to have Mom's best interests in mind, and they do everything they can to insure Mom is happy and comfortable. Thank you very much to A Place for Mom and Traditions of Lansdale for making such a positive experience for Mom and our family.

Couldn't have asked for better care

When I had to arrange for my cousin to go into Chestnut Knoll, as her memory loss became more severe, I had many concerns as she was a very independent woman. They were incredibly good with her and showed remarkable patience helping her settle in. This was helped by the excellent food which she really enjoyed. They made special provision for her to enjoy her favourite chocolate ice cream on a regular basis which was much appreciated. [name removed] was there for almost five years and they were like family for her. She was clearly much loved by the staff who they really cared about her and her needs.

Best place for your loved ones

We had to move my grandpa out of his home fairly quickly . I began researching facilities close to my mom and myself, and Traditions had the best reviews. I began my correspondence with [name removed], and I expressed my need for a quick turn around. [name removed] was there for every phone call and every email, and sent me a lot of great information to look over to present to my grandpa. Fast forward almost 6 months, and my grandpa is really enjoying his new home. We love the staff and how they go above and beyond for not only their residents, but their families too. I am always greeted by name, and with a smile. I could not say enough nice things about them. It gives us a great piece of mind knowing that he is in a place with such great people. The food is great, they provide so many options to keep their residents busy, they have doctors on site, hairdressers, everything! It's all just amazing!
