Loved the atmosphere and overall friendliness of staff and residents. Management was superb, however, left shortly after we arrived and replaced. There appears to be quite a turnover in management and servers. Meal time seems to take too long as there seems to be a shortage of kitchen/serving personnel. Having a meal in the dining room takes 1 1/2-2 hrs and since residents have appointments/activities besides eating all day, residents forfeit meals. The quality of meals varies; outstanding meals are served on some days; bland to tasteless meals served on others. Cleaning of apartments is sub-standard: floors are vacuumed weekly, but bathrooms are hit and miss (toilet bowl cleaned, but not rim or base, no mirror, floor or shower cleaned). Must request bathroom floor to be done, every time. Furniture, window seals are not dusted, but top of paintings and door frames will be dusted. Repairs are done instantly. One elevator for the entire building is insufficient. Am supplying my own linens, towels, trash bags because quality poor.

I moved out here in June my wife died in March and I want ed to get away from Kansas City Missouri. I think this is a wonderful place I have a beautiful view of the mountains and the park above it is just a wonderful place to live.

We toured a few different communities and pretty much they were all on the same level, however, this one seemed to be the better fit for dad's personality. The staff is great here friendly and nice interacts with the residents. The community very well cares for clean all the time. Dad is really liking the food here. He is doing some of the activities they offer. Over all, he is enjoying the new environment and we are thrilled he is happy there.

This is a beautiful community with lots of different amenities for their residents but we cut our tour short as we felt that it was not in the budget we were looking for and they did not accept pets and my parent's dog is a very important part of their lives.

This looked like a clean assisted living community when I visited. The residents at this community did not seem as active as the residents at the community we chose. The people I met were nice and helpful. The community is older and it did seem dark as it had dark wood and darker color paint.

The staff where very knowledgeable and helpful during my tour of there community. They took there time and where very patient with all of the questions my mother and I had for them on living arrangements. The floor plan was open with lots of great amenities to offer all of there residents. Overall it was great, it just was not the right fit for my mom.

I like my apartment very much and have enjoyed my experience so far at this community. The staff are absolutely marvelous and do the best they can to try and meet everyone needs. Recently we have had a pipe burst in our building and it has caused a lot of disturbance and a lot of damage throughout the entire complex but the staff have done the best they can to try and make things flow as easy as possible. I do wish that the existing residents would be more welcoming to new members, they have given me the cold shoulder and have no been very welcoming at all.

I would give the food at this community a B minus. Mom enjoys the exercise classes,playing bingo and going on outings. This is an independent community that I would recommend with some reservations. The staff are ok.

We are newbies to Cottonwood Estates but so far my mother-in-law is enjoying her new friends, especially joining other ladies in the dining room for meals. I have had two meals with her both were good. She particularly enjoys the ice cream/froyo machine in the activities room. She is loving the independence of going to church on her own via the van from First United Methodist Alpharetta that picks up there for Sun services. We attended the first Cottonwood Estates Talent night and I was impressed. She has been favorable to most of the activites she has participated in. She tried a movie night, but she is not a movie person so I wasn't surprised that wasn't for her, not was happy hour but she has many happy hours ahead in the library and the chapel. So far so good

Nice, clean environment. Family oriented. Great staff!

I thing is that they need consistency with the kitchen staff. They seem to have an issue with quality.

Overall the experience has been good at Liberty Heights. I really cant think of anything right now to mention to have them improve on. The staff are very friendly.

The apartments are spacious and well laid out. The facility is spacious and beautifully decorated. The lack of quality meals is the biggest issue. There are no healthy options for health conscious retirees. Many meals include mystery gravy to cover the overcooked low grade meat product. A typical menu is Chicken a la king or the alternate of beans and wieners. Not exactly quality fare for $4,000 monthly. The new management team has done nothing to improve this ongoing problem. If they could improve the food this could be a great place.

Oak Park Retirement is a very nice place to live, but BEWARE, when you first move in they waive some of the cost that makes it affordable for people on fixed incomes to move in. These incentives are good for the first year. After that be prepared for a big rent increase.. Many have moved away because they could not afford the rent increase.

Overall the managers are great and the facility is clean and well appointed. The most overwhelming issue though with Cottonwood is the food and food service. They go to great lengths, including outdoor signs boasting "3 Chef Prepared Meals a Day!" to lure the residents in. So far it's working! They are at 100% occupancy. The problem is that the food is almost consistently poorly prepared, carbohydrate-filled and salt heavy. The residents have complained. One of the resident's family members even got together a resident survey and contacted the home office. All to no avail. Any discussion with the resident managers winds up with them saying that they are at the mercy of the home office and the food and products they prepare and serve can only be those approved by that office. The residents also spend a huge amount of time sitting at their tables waiting to be served. The residents are supposed to be seated for the midday meal between 12:15 and 12:30. I have observed everyone sitting and waiting on their food long past 1 PM. I smiled and greeted one of the ladies that I passed, sitting at her table. She half-smiled disgustedly and indicated her empty plate. My parent in residence says that this is routine and that it's getting worse!

They were nice and clean, but not really right for me. I didn't like that everyone had to eat at the same time. The mealtimes were very regimented. They didn't have casitas which is what I was looking for, and they were pretty close to the freeway.

The biggest contention is the meals, the food is very poor quality. They have plenty of choices, but they aren't exactly great. The soup is primarily water, I've eaten there 3 times, and it was not good. My mother says it's terrible. It seems like they buy really low quality food. I think they do pretty good over all I really do. The food is the major complaint. They could add a little to the activities, they just have the typical bingo and movie night kind of thing.

I toured this facility with my parent several months before my parent decided to move in. We toured a total of 5 facilities and Steeplechase made the short list of 2 finalists. I found it to be clean with nice amenities and very good food. The building is relatively new and looks and feels fresh. It feels safe. It seems like you can always find something to do there to keep busy. Availability of transportation for shopping, appointments, etc. was a big plus. The staff is very dedicated and helpful. They have been an excellent source of information, support and help during my parent's transition.

We liked it, it was nice and clean and the people were friendly. It just didn't stand out that much against all the options, they weren't exceptional in price, and were a little outside of the area we wanted to be in.

The one thing is that they told us a price on the phone but that was for thier lowest priced room so they should say that there are many different types of rooms. She ended up getting one for almost $200 more a month. They need to say what you get for that price. They upsell you. They're good people and it's clean. It's been good. I would highly recommend them.
