Review of Destinations Lynnwood

Moved in new SHAG [date removed] - no income cap and 20% of apts subsidized and with SHAG. On [date removed] one week notice that Overture bought building and transfer was [date removed]. For a month temps ran the place, no communication from Destinations or Graystar management. All previous vendors let go by new manager and she lasted about 3 months. Building not kept clean - hallways vacuumed only once a month. Windows have never been cleaned since built. Rents have been raised without once included now are charged for. A lot of residents moving out. No confidence that Graystar, Overture, Carlyle Group know how to run this place. 80% of us are praying market rate rents and wonder where this is heading.

Supposed to be senior community; however, tenants have family living in units. Management does not enforce community rules. Kids, young adults come and go at all hours. Tenant parking not enforced. Families living in tenants take up spaces allocated for tenants. Not a "true" senior community.

Having second thoughts

Have lived here 10 months. Lots of turnover among staff/management. Swimming pool has been closed since July 13...lots of excuses from management but no resolution and no sign it will reopen any time soon. Totally unacceptable as this is one of the few 'amenities' I take advantage of.

Beware

My parents wanted a place to retire and live comfortably. Little did they know the rent would increase heavily after a year and promises of new carpet and new appliances would be installed at a later time. The new carpet never happened and if your wanted new appliances then your rent would increase heavily. Even if you don't get new appliances, every year the rent increases-at least by $50. Now for someone on social security that is a hefty increase. The management will tell you no the rates don't increase by much but it does. My parents could not continue to afford to pay more money every year so they gave notice and had to pay their last months rent. Now a few months later they have a collections notice for the last months rent and for damage to the carpet which the company had advised was brand new, which it wasn't. My parents didn't even get a phone call or a bill from Destinations at Alexander-just a collections notice. They advised my parents the brand new carpet which was replaced was now damaged. New carpet, that never happened. How can a senior living community take advantage of the elderly. My father is 78, really come on Destinations at Alexander. So before you consider living there, do your homework and talk to some of the residents. They will tell you the truth. There is so much turnover at this community it is so sad. The management is horrible. It's all about money and not taking care of senior citizen residents. My parents would even volunteer with activities and any help needed at the community, and this is how they are treated. Please beware. I am just trying to let you know it is now what it seems on their website.

I would not wish Living at NorthStar on my worst enemy

I can only tell you about what happened to me personally. Putting names on those individuals when they no longer work there has no relative meaning any longer. Those people are gone because I believe corporate realized those individuals were a liability to their business. However, Corporate has not ever reached out to me with an apology or compensation for my losses because that would admit that they had a liability to the residents. Nor do I expect to ever see that ever happening. Those people in the power positions will never show their faces in public or admit their culpability in what happened to me personally. Those people work behind closed doors although their work & personal ethics will continue to be passed down to their subordinates. And should those subordinates act in a way to bring attention to their bad acts, they will be gone too.

I wouldn't put my worst enemy at Overture Plano.

AVOID!! After touring the Overture, stressing the desire to have a place for my parents following their simultaneous health emergencies, my husband and I submitted my parents' application. The staff, including the GM, "LF," understood that occupancy was urgently needed. LF said they would have the unit ready for move-in by the end of the week. We left a $[fee removed]community fee with LF & awaited her promised call, which never came. She failed to respond to multiple emails despite HER request that we email her. She never produced a lease or attempted to deliver the unit on time. She strung us along & denied any responsibility for her lack of communication & inaction & refused to refund my parents' money despite never producing a signed lease or keys. She cost us precious time and money and caused an inordinate amount of stress. This place may look good on the outside, but it's rotting from within.

Simply awful place to “live”.

Old, dirty, expensive and nasty staff! Maintenance does not like to maintenance and they charge for inside and outside lights and gas. Full of bugs and spiders. Parking is expensive. Smells of crap in the halls. My cable box caught on fire shortly after I moved in and my electric stove plates get too hot!

NorthStar Georgetown Review

Read your lease, there are a lot of fees & add ons which you have no choices in choosing what cable company you want to watch & you do not mind sky high water bills because you pay through the apartment complex not the city water department plus other fees. Tell all your clients to carry extra rental insurance for sewer backup because I was not offered that & when ruined my nice furnishings I had no insurance to pay for it & at 73 years old I can not go back to work & but new furniture. Management did not have a clue as to how to clean up a sewer back up & just slapped a new piece of carpet on top. I tried to ask them to make sure that the foundation was cleaned, dried & new pad & carpet installed. You can not do those steps above in one day although I was told the carpet people were experts & per the manager "She was not". When they called me back that evening, the carpet was very damp. I went the next day to complain & asked for another apartment, I was told you asked for a new carpet (first they wanted to shampoo it), we gave you that & that is all we are going to do. This is closed. They have 2 daily rental apartments they rent to guests & I asked for one of those & was told they were rented out. They left me in my mold infested apartment for over six weeks. Before allowing me to move across the hall. Before I moved the manager took a week vacation & the next week was off property then it took a week to clean the apartment. When upper management found out & shared my statement with the manager the next week ( I said nothing that I hadn't told her to her face). She stated I insisted on staying there. I asked her where did she think I would stay for $150 a night, I do not have that money.

Totally dissatisfied

This is not an assisted living facility. There are no restaurant facilities. Folks ordered food and it was delivered by a staff member. There are minimal activities provided. The apartments are old. Some units have been renovated. Parking is a problem for visitors as there are reserved spots for residents for a fee per month. There is no nursing or medical staff at this facility. This is strictly a independent living. I would not recommend anyone over 65 with health issues to live here.

A building with many kinks yet to be resolved!

A management team shrouded in secrecy and dishonesty, residents tip toe around when things go wrong or don't work. A big letdown. Some residents have experienced flooding and some have complained about mold.

Diversity & Tolerance

Overall we have had some good experiences at Everleigh. The facility is beautiful & well-kept & the changing evolving staff is doing their best within the Greystar constraints. However since moving in we have been subjected to some intolerant judgmental entitled RACIST tenants’ attitudes & rudeness. We have complained several times to the management office. These tenants do NOT honor nor respect other tenants’ boundaries & have made offensive insensitive comments to us! They need to mind their own business! At the same time, we have come across a few tenants who possess & display more appropriate behaviors.

Would not recommend!

Staff is useless! Very disappointed in this place! Pool heater has not worked for months. Very few activities. When they have events or meals, they run out of food. Fix pool, get some real activities besides bingo and bad bagels get togethers. Need an activity manager to follow through with ACTIVITIES. Manager does not want any problems, so sits in office with door closed.

Bullying and snobbery

The facility is beautiful and apartments inviting. At first impression the residents are warm and inviting too. However, there is a culture of intolerance towards anyone that doesn’t fit their narrow mold. My friend moved here in hopes of finding friendships and community. All she found was condemnations and unkindness. The other residents told her how she must dress and talk and walk. They left her nasty notes on her door and shunned her. She had to break her lease and move for her own sanity. The management did nothing to protect her. Very disappointing.

The social director, NOT A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER.(she took a photo of me that they used in an ad), takes hundreds of photos of us and uses them in commercial ads without asking, informing or compensating us. Lease says they can use them however they choose. Sell them? Political ads? no limit. We pay for many amenities we don’t use: aerobics, water aerobics (8 participants), yoga, booze for happy hour, the pool. Most food for events is paid for and prepared by residents. The main floor garage gate has been open/ broken for nearly 2 months. The 1st floor one was broken for a month before that. There’s security at night, but, during the day, anyone can walk in and break into cars or apartments. My apartment kitchen has very few cupboards and hardly any counter space. Downsizing? I had to get rid of many valuable items to move into this tiny apartment. These past 9 months, they’ve crammed folks into rooms maskless for activities, only suspending when COVID ravaged their staff.

Not recommended from a current resident

Avoid yourself and don't be fooled by false offers. I know I live here. check everything yourself often and document it all. You would be wise to take photos as well. What meals?

Horrible experience

I did not have a good experience at Destinations Spring Valley. It was very dirty when I moved in. I had to buy brushes to clean the bathroom because it smelled so bad. The stove did not work correctly. The carpets were dirty and did not reach the end of the room. I would definitely not recommend to others looking.
